Dimension 8400 will not start up cd or dvd drive

Hello

I have a Dimension 8400 that refuses to boot from the CD or dvd drive. In the bios, tried to move 'Onboard or USB CD-ROM Drive' to the first position in the boot sequence. Also, I tried pressing "f12" during startup to access the start menu. I tried to select the "integrated or usb cd-rom" option from there with a cd bootable in both drives and still have had no success.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I also have the same problem.  Do not understand why Dell does not address this issue.  Trying to recharge a system using the Dell restore CD and have two CD drives in the system provided with the system and will not start to :(

  • L50 satellite will not start up - request password HARD drive

    Hello

I hope someone can help me

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L50 and when I start it, it says
+ no boot device please don't restart System.

It is still under warranty because it was purchased only 6 months ago.
I took it back where I bought it and they told me to contact Toshiba.

    I'm waiting on a reminder.
I hope that someone can help you. He also asked that the HARD drive password.

Where can I find this information?

    Hi Kym

I guess the L50 Satellite cannot find the boot device (HARD drive), because the HARD drive was obtained with a drive password HARD and without this HARD isn't accessible disk password and the system does not start properly.

Did you set this password for HARD drive in the past?
I m request because this isn t password on new laptops. This HARD drive password can only be set by the owner of the laptop

Of my knowledge if you know n t this HARD drive password, you will not be able to access the HARD disk in such a case, the HARD drive would be useless, and the data would be lost

That's why I recommend you check if someone put the HARD drive on your laptop password where you n t know the password, you will need to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the system once more.

  • Dimension 8400 will not light

The power button does nothing. It is not yet a little to feel like there's a switch behind the button, but I do not use this computer frequently if I am not sure. I thought it would be the food if I swapped this possibility. Nothing. When you first plug in, the fan moves for a second, then stops. There is a little green light that says in the corner of the motherboard, but nothing else does nothing.

    Any ideas?

Ron, I checked the connection in the image. Indeed, it is a little loose, but re-allocation of seats it did not help. The behavior has not changed.

I try now to be able to actually see the power button/switch itself. I was able to get off the back cover but not the front (which is of course one bearing on the switch. I find no documentation to help with this. Do you know of any? I have already broken a couple of small pieces of plastic that contain some of the covers and want to do no damage!

    bdesilva

The Start button / stop and the circuit board is a unit. Dell has not released a guide to remove the front panel of the 8400 Dimension, you can use this NOTE from the ADMINGUIDE: broken link has been removed from this post by Dell >, it's for a small Optiplex GX50 Mini Tower, but the procedures are the same.

  • Download it "Boot Manager is damaged, the system will not start" after changing a hard drive.

Original title: where and how to get the installation to win 8 pro 64 bit oem disc

Please community, help me. First of all, I have upgraded to win 10 and it works well. So I decided to start from scratch and got a bigger hard drive and reinstall win 8. I did successfully, but when I rebooted the computer, I received a statement that says "Boot Manager is damaged, the system cannot start ', which is why I am now looking for a start or install disk for win 8 64 bit oem. I was not able to start since I received the message. Help, please.

    Hello

Maybe that's a problem, but you can try...

You can try to download the ISO of Windows 8 from the following link:

    Download the .exe installation of:

    http://Web.ESD.Microsoft.com/W8DL/WSEC5B1D8A9DFDFD92DFB736C5B1D8956B5B1D8/Windows8-Setup.exe

Click on Setup.exe. The wizard of Windows 8 will begin. Enter your key of Windows 8 and press Next.

Click install now and let the full download.

The installation files will be stored by default in the C:\ESD\Windows folder.

When the "Install Windows 8" message is displayed, select 'Install by creating media' to create a bootable USB key or .iso (a disk image) file. Chose a folder to store the image, for example "Windows.iso.

    OR... http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only

If this does not work, see this thread...

  • Re: Satellite L300 will not start and cannot restore HARD drive

I have a L300 which stops just to start (after that the screen flash BIOS) with a single cursor flashing when I boot from the HARD disk. I can access the bios Setup and boot from the CD. I took the HARD drive connected to my external USB adapter on another PC and I can see partitions C and D and read the files correctly. I noticed that there is a directory called 'HDD recovery' on the D drive, but I don't have a recovery CD or another program to restore it.

I found a boot of Vista recovery disc and it allows me to start a version of vista recovery but when I check the windows system can't find any errors. Also, if I choose the system restore then he says that he has no restore file.
I suspect it's the disk HARD restore being Tosh files and Windows.

    Help someone!

  • Printer HP Photosmart will not start

I am not necessarily in a hurry for an answer.

I use a HP Photosmart 7260, S/N CN38Q2B0ZQ, Q3005A printer, model # SDGOA - 0372, with a Mac OS 10.5.8.  Printer blinking red and will not start.  There is no driver for the printer.  I had for a long time, never had a problem.  What should I do?

Red flashing red in the light, I think that your machine has no status. If it flashes in the light of memory card, then there is an error with the memory card. Unfortunately, the machine is 7 years old and has lived a long life that printers are concerned. It would not be surprising if it has passed. This doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.

Computer will not start at the top. I was first getting a 'file problem' message on nv4_mini.sys. After finding that someone else had the same problem and I responded went to try the solution but then started to get the message that the file: \windows\system32\config\system is missing or corupted. Have tried to do where I could start up in safe mode and cannot. Tried to boot from the installation CD, but when I try to make the system recovery and choose the system to recover nothing happens. • Dimension 8200 does not start

I have a Dimension 8200, which has not been used for more than a year.  I was going to reformat the hard drive to remove all personal data, and then give it to my daughter's school.  However, it will not start.  The Dell page comes and the BIOS white bar at the bottom of this page fills slowly, but then nothing happens for about a minute.  Meanwhile, the power button is green, and the ABCD diagnostic lights are green-orange to orange-green.  Then after about a minute or two, a page of message arrives.    At this point, the diagnostic lights are Green-Green-Green-orange, and the power button is always green. Among other writings is the assertion that the 1 primary and secondary hard drives is not found.  It says also "failure keyboard,' even if I used this fairly reliable keyboard with other computers. But it does not seem that the keyboard doesn't have - I do nothing doing on the keyboard has an impact on the computer.

I checked the optical drive opens and closes when I push the button on the front, but I have not tried to use the player, because the computer is completely non-functional.  I looked through the forum of ideas of things to try.  According to this research, I checked the power supply provides the correct voltage.  I disconnected and reconnected then the two IDE cables, and I also removed and replaced the RAM sticks, as well as two sticks of continuity.  But still nothing!

Any ideas, or should I just trash?

    Thank you

    Sam

Some of the fundamental things include the pram/clock battery replacement

since they may be dead; then with a power failure, sometimes the Mac

do not restart. Usual power management unit & reset NVRAM/PRAM are

methods that sometimes also used as a troubleshooting measure.

    • Reset the Mac chip power management: (see SMU)

    http://www.thexlab.com/FAQs/resetpmchip.html

    • How to reset NVRAM-LANDAU on your Mac - Apple Support

A hard reset can sometimes be used, where the power is disconnected

the logic board and power removed from grill; Then push the Start button / stop.

(But maybe not. Several PowerMac computers, I had, some people found this helpful)

You may also remove and reposition cards and other items

the inside of the case, to be sure they are connected properly. Be sure to not

In short anything, due to the static load or residual power in the circuits.

The hour is late here, so I'm not going offline; If all goes well a battery original or novel, etc.

can help to put it on again. Also sometimes the power supply has some faulty fans,

circuits or capacitors, so they can be troublesome to repair or replace.

    Good luck in this case!

If you can't get the iMac began and ongoing implementation, you will not be able to use the target disk Mode:

    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT201462

Then the option is to take the iMac HARD drive, install it in an enclosed, and connect the HARD drive to the MBA via the USB port.  If the HARD drive is recognized, you can copy the data out of it.
