Dell XPS 13 flickering screen

Hi, I've had my laptop for a few days now and I've noticed a few problems with the screen. It still flashes so slightly at random. Sounds like the screen slightly wearing off random times and is quite noticeable. It happens more when the captain is not plugged. I contacted technical support without help on the issue at all. The room sensor is off, as is the room sensor the worst I have ever dealt. The brightness is at 100%. The screen seems not bright enough at the same time. Any ideas? I reinstalled windows 8 two times already and still the same problem.

UPDATE *.

The user that says change the setting "Enable adaptive brightness" to OFF, is good for some people. This will work for some.

IF this does not work... the ONLY solution I found, dealing with this during more than a year, is to change the projector and back to the LCD screen output. That ALWAYS works for me; However, once you restart, sometimes, it will return to the light but by changing Adaptive brightness allow OFF, the duality of these operations seem to be a sufficient remedy.

Press Fn button, and then press F1, four times until the output of the projector setting is selected, then let go. The screen will turn black, of course, because the laptop think you use a projector. Then, simply press ENTER, and it will return to the LCD screen. The flicker should have disappeared... until, perhaps after a reboot.

SO, this is very frustrating since this is supposed to be their flagship mobile product.

I hope this helps.

  • Dell XPS 13 9333 screen brightness problem

    Hello

Another problem with my new Dell XPS 13 (model 9333) - for any reason, during loading or no, changes in brightness screen without saying me things to do (she just made right now by writing this sentence!).

Any ideas on why this is happening? It's kinda like a light automatic on a smartphone but much more random thing! It really starts to wreck really my head.

Any help appreciated no matter how silly it sounds!

    See you soon,.

I found a setting called "enable adaptive brightness" which seems to turn off this nonsense.  On Win8.1, it is:

Power options > change Plan settings > change advanced power settings > display > enable adaptive brightness

  • Interference/Dell XPS 13 display screen flicker problem

    Hello

I bought my laptop Dell XPS 13 (L321X) in December of 2012.  Starting in mid-2013, I began to experience my screen suddenly blur. I enclose a picture of what's going on. I don't think nothing of it at first, and honestly it would happen maybe once a month.  I thought that it was maybe that I had the laptop on my lap and it was be overheated.  In any case, I don't think a lot of it

Since the beginning of this year, I saw that it started doing it more frequently.  Last month, it happened more frequently, to the point that it disrupts my use of the laptop.  I LOVE the laptop, except for this issue.  Can someone please help me understand what seems to be the problem with the display problem?

I haven't tried the connection to the laptop to an external monitor to see if the problem is with my video player or a screen.  It's just hard to tie it to an external monitor at the time where the problem starts, because the interference goes away in 20-30 seconds.

Hi all, I posted this message a few months ago.  I never received any positive suggestions or solving the problem, so I did what I do naturally when I'm out of options.  I reformatted my entire hard drive and re-installed windows and all the drivers from scratch.

Pouf!  Problem gone!  Didn't happen for several months.  I guess that there is a bug in the version of the BIOS or display drivers.  I recommend others try this - it worked for me and I am in love with the XPS.

    Good luck!

  • Dell XPS 13 flickering of the screen (9350)

Just got the XPS 13 (9350) last week and I had a few intermittent black screen flicker that occurs normally in short bursts of 4-5 short black outs in a period of two or three seconds. Technical support updated all drivers and others, but I always feel the questions. Anyone had similar problems and possible solutions?

I looked at the previous messages and the display flashes, it's not where it actually distorts the things on the screen, it literally just seems like it flashes. Any help is appreciated!

Make sure that you have not installed hyper-v.

  • Dell XPS 17 702 X flicker of the screen

I read everything I could the varrious formums and installed the drivers as much as I could, Nvida dell old and new, ancient and new, video intel old and new.  Nothing prevents the screen flickering on the battery power.

I had the screen replaced by a dell technician, continues to blink.  The entire computer replaced and it still flashes!

Someone at - it suggestions?  Seems that the pilots have no effect.  The only thing that works is to plug in the power adapter.  On battery, it sparkles.  I also have Nvidia to be all the time as well as the intel integrated video card without change. Technicians dell always change the power setting.  They seem obsessed with setting the screen for maximum performance on the intel integrated and the nvidea with no effect.

Dell wants to send a new motherboard and screen.  I'm getting sick this.  The screen cannot be bad because it works on the current!  When you demand a refund?

I like to keep it if it gets fixed I like it.

I had the same problem of flickering on battery with my Dell XPS 702 X. After installing a new copy of Windows 7 on a new SDS drive with AG Full-HD 1080 p screen, I've updated all my drivers and use the bios A06.  That's when I saw the same problem you are having.  Since I don't see it on the old version, I searched the difference. My solution was to do a right click on the desktop and go to graphic properties and select the Advanced Mode. Click on the power tab, and then select Maximum Performance for both sector and battery.     Given that you have tried this and it did not fix the problem, you can have a bad screen.

  • Laptop Dell XPS 13 L322X: 8 beeps start after replacing the screen

    Hi all

I have laptop computer Dell XPS 13 L322X (serial number: CC2YVW1).  I use an external monitor because the screen is flickering with vertical lines and ghosts of the colors. I've updated the Bios and the driver video and tried the diagnostic mode (power and the D - key... and) without success.

I just bought a new replacement compatible screen but the I cannot start using the new form and meeting the 8 beeps are heard. I tried to start with the external monitor and using power on the laptop with the D key, the new screen of the laptop began to switch colors four times and return the sound signal.

I tried to disconnect the battery and the AC power and maintain the power to drain the left stored energy from capacitors without success.

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Sala

In this case, return the set of sieves of replacement - it's probably the cable is bad (but since it is an integral part of the screen, the set should be replaced.

  • Dell XPS 2710 all-in-One will not start, the totally blank screen

Hello. This is my first post on the forums and I hope someone can help me.

The Dell XPS 2710 all-in-one I bought for my 10 year old 15 months ago (Yes, that means that the guarantee is expired) will not start. No no post, no beeps, nothing. Just a brief spark of light on the screen, no words, nothing. The machine gets occasional use, and there is nothing to indicate what could have caused the problem. I have not upgraded the BIOS recently, is not as if it was a bad BIOS update, or whatever it is. I tried to hit the F1, F2, F12 keys delete during startup. No results.

The video works. I know because I can connect my laptop to the HDMI-in port and I can see the desktop of my laptop very well. So the question is NOT the video. My son uses this machine for occasional movies and homework in his room. I want to fix the computer, if I can. I am handy with computers and built several machines from the outset in the past.

I believe that the most likely scenario is that the motherboard has went wrong; There are several posts around the internet about motherboards 2710 AIO being unreliable. I saw an ad on the forums of Dell from a guy who said Dell Tech Support replaced its motherboard 2710 five times. I see that some of these motherboards are selling on eBay for around $200. I'm toying with the idea of getting a. I watched the service manual for the 2710 and I'm pretty confident that I could replace the Board of Directors.

Someone had experience with permutation on their motherboard on a 2710 AIO? Or someone has any ideas on what could be the problem with my son's computer? I appreciate all the advice/help anyone could offer.

OK, I have removed all the RAM from the motherboard (there were two sticks) and unplug the connector on the SATA hard drive. Then I turned on the machine and got two beeps very strong, but still no video on the screen indicating any form of activity of the POST. The sound signals have been first sounds I've ever heard during the procedure of boot on this machine. I put the RAM back in and re-connected the SATA cable. The way he has been, no video, no post, no beeps. I'm a bit at a loss for what I've decided, this means that the motherboard works technically and that another device on the machine is at the origin of the problem? Have I reason to assume that if I hear two beeps, then I should have the certainty that the motherboard was bad? Given that this a sound signal, the solution becomes cloudy, I guess. I can't help but feel that somehow the BIOS on the computer is damaged. Don't quite know how that could happen, however, because I have not updated the BIOS in over a year. I don't remember what BIOS version I have, but he had been working well for a year with no problems. Thanks for any other help/suggestions you can provide.

  • Activate the touch screen capabilities fresh Windows 8.1 Install - Dell XPS 15 9530

So, I had one that I puzzled. I just got a new Dell computer yesterday and as I did the last 10 + years, I install a copy fresh retail because, like most people, hate dealing with their additional software and prefer a clean install, so I don't just not deal with uninstallation, etc.. It turns out that that may have been a bad idea. After that the installation has been made, touch no longer works on the screen. I installed the drivers from the Dell site without success. The Device Manager has no missing material and all windows updates are up-to-date. Intel recognition system stylus and touchscreen capability there. I also checked the settings Pen and Touch on the contact tab and everything seems to be OK (everything I compare these parameters on is a Dell coming Pro 8, but they are the same). My suspicion and I might be away on this, is that I use a copy rather than the OEM of Windows 8.1 copy retail. I got tired of a Pro and a regular retail (Yes, two legal copies) and none worked. I don't know that new computers have the key embedded in the uefi (bios). I tried to install with or without the embedded key substitution. But it's the only thing I can think of and I hope you guys had a few ideas or someone else has had this problem and can help me to solve the problems. Model: Dell XPS 15 9530 with QHD touchscreen monitor +. Update: I discarded retail vs oem fresh installs. I tried an installation using backup/restore of Dell disks. Same deal. It is to be some sort of setting or driver who is not on their site.

I cannot yet understand what has gone wrong, but Dell pulled out and swapped the screen out and it works perfectly. I swear it worked out of the box, so I have no idea how the material do not so fast, but the good news is that it is fixed!

  • Screen color problems with Dell XPS 15 on battery!

1 week bought a new Dell XPS 15 laptop, rear.

Config: Intel Core i5, Nvidia GeForece GT 540 M (Optimus) with Intel HD graphics embedded, 8 GB of RAM

The problem is that the color of the screen looks unreal, the color of the icons fade and look like whitish and 256 bits and faded color mode.

The main point is that the problem only occurs when the system is running on battery. Is the problem with the Optimus technology?

I have the latest drivers, it would be my course of action now?

    Hello

I bought the brand new XPS 15 1 month back and I had same problem

My features are Core i7 Nvidia GeForece GT 540 M (Optimus) with Intel HD graphics embedded, 8 GB of RAM.

But I disable the functions of conservation of energy which is shown in the below photo attached and after that I didn't meet with this problem. U should also try and give me feed back to this topic.

    Thankx

  • Dell XPS 420 with Vista Home Premium, replaced the hard drive, download now blue screen errors

My girlfriend has a desktop Dell XPS 420 quit working a year or 2 ago. A computer technician told me that it sounded as if the hard drive was bad, recently I purchased from Dell, a Seagate 1 TB hard drive (the original is a Western Digital 320 GB).

I bought also, once again from Dell, a copy of its installation discs for Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

I installed the new hard drive, correctly, as far as I can tell, but I tried several times over the past days to install Vista and a few times I got errors (BSoD) STOP and a few other times, Windows Installer errors.

    What's wrong?

I run Dell diagnostics that took almost a whole day, but I don't think anything. I have not partitioned the hard drive, it's like 931 GB.

I think that may be something related to the RAM, but I'm not sure.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Laptop 17 HP envy flickering screen? (in fact some troubleshooting)

It flashes when I click on an item or open a folder. Also, he goes crazy when I put on a video.

    Things I've done:

    Updated drivers.

"Hold down the power button / stop" method.

    I have clues:

    1. I remember when I received the laptop, he would always sparkle in exactly the same way when a charger that has been plugged in was too weak (can leave message too low) and change the charger always fixed.

Now I still have the same charger (I have 3 hp and 1 dell Chargers at home that match my laptop) and none of them seem to be "pretty" (x 2 65w 1 x 60w and 120w x 1).

    (2. another funny is that when I uninstalled my drivers Ati Radeon HD5850 completely, there is no flickering, but obviously, I need to have what I use this laptop strictly for the games)

    3. the screen refresh rate is 60 Hz and not possible to change.

    4. There is NO flickering on an external display (tried two televisions, both have a little clicker)

    5. you say that it's a hardware problem, but I actually somehow got to operate the flicker-free earlier this evening and are stayed all night play and it did not cause me any questions. It was working fine.

    6. sometimes the PC freezes (could this be a battery problem? because I currently does not use one as mine are broken and I'm waiting for a new ship)

    7. I recently had 2 blue screens of death. A when installing the ATI drivers and another that I don't remember.

Sorry for the wall of text, I tried to make it easy to read

    Hi wallyson691,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using the forum, it's a great place to find answers. You have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

No need to apologize for the amount of text.  It is always better to have too much information then is not enough.

It is very useful during validation to include your exact model of HP laptop and the operating system you are using.  How can I find my model number or product number?

I noticed that you have a flickering screen problem and you have successfully updated the drivers but it has not fixed the problem.

When you have uninstalled the Ati Radeon HD5850 the problem disappeared.

You had this problem before, and it was linked to the power.  You have tried different adapters but no change.

Have you tried a different outlet?

You did all your Windows updates?

Have you tried HP Support Assistant to help with updates and issues running?

Did you run MS fix to try to solve the problem?

Here is a link to the display quality problemsthat can help.

If you think it may be a conflict in the origin of the problem, you can try using Microsoft System Configuration (Windows 7) to find out what is the cause.

I would like to start a test of material just to rule out this possibility.  Test of hardware failures (Windows 7, Vista)

You could try a restore to where he worked, using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)

You can try to install the original driver to see if it helps. Using the Recovery Manager to restore the software and drivers (Windows 7)

You can consider to recover to factory.

Performing a recovery of system HP (Windows 7)

During the recovery process, you will receive a prompt to back up personal files to avoid loss.

Restore files that have been supported to the top using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7)

    I hope this helps.

  • Dell XPS on MS XP running several windows to include station media TV and internet games offers a pixelated display gradually and freezes

Dell XPS on MS XP running several windows to include station media TV and internet games offers a pixelated display gradually and freezes. restart clears but reproduces

I love my Dell and use media station to watch cable TV while playing games on the internet (pogo.com) sometimes I play solitaire spider OEM.  I think that, especially in the afternoon, my image of the desktop will get pixelated (small hyphens in contrasting colors) gradually fill in top to bottom.  Initially, I thought this might be the steganography, but found no references.  then I noticed that the pixelation in contrasting colors began to appear on the screen of the media station into strips about 6-8 rows of red, green and blue and pulsed in time for audio.  do not have audio video storage but this started to happen when Comcast went digital, so there may be a link?  spoke and troubleshoot-done with the line paid expert who suggested Speedfan as a diagnosis for my GPU graphics processing unit.  When I reboot, everything is fine so it happens with increasing frequency.

Here is a link to the Dell site where you can get a manual that has a few general cleaning instructions as... eliminate dust, etc.

Even if your system is physically disconnected from the power supply and clean, if you can remove your slot NVIDIA card and reinsert the card safely in the same dwelling, which will ensure that you don't have a loose connection.  Which may require a screwdriver, so if you're not uncomfortable with it, maybe you can find someone to help you.

Your display NVIDIA GeForce 7300 driver has also passed HIM.

Your msinfo32/video info says that currently, you have this:

    6.14.12.6658 driver version (it's NVIDIA version 266.58)

The current version of the driver for the GeForce 7300 is 270.61

The best way to reinstall the NVIDIA software is to visit NVIDIA support web page and let your system and recommend the best software for your system or that you get the right version of the software on their web page and download the latest package of video driver for your system software and install it yourself.

It is recommended to run the scan NVIDIA with Internet Explorer.

Here is the link to the support page NVIDIA for the scan:

Read the instructions, and then click the GRAPHICS DRIVERS button to start the scan.

Let online to take a look at your video system scanner them and see what he suggests for drivers and consider their analysis if they offer a new pilot.

Download and install the recommended driver and reboot your system and check the version of the driver installed again.

If you post the msinfo32/video info once again, we can help you to ensure that the new driver is installed.
