Downgraded from Vista to XP Pro (V. 2002) on my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop.  Have installed Service Pack 3.

Audio will not play (I get beeps of warning system but that's all, there isn't a problem with the hardware).

In Device Manager, there is a yellow exclamation by the "IDT High Definition Audio Codec" under sound, video and game controllers.

    Dxdiag shows NO device installed.

NO device does appear as installed anywhere.

I tried the updated drivers, did NOT work.  Get the error code 10.

Automated fix - it doesn't include troubleshooting for audio.

  • Dell studio xps 1645 sound driver IDT works only when it is installed.

I have the dell studio xps 1645 with windows 7 home premium 64-bit installed on. I have a problem since I format the laptop and reinstalled windows 7 and driver.

The problem is that with the IDT sound card driver. When I start up the laptop, I couldn't find any noise until then I install the IDT audio driver which is from the website of dell (dell.com.au) under the drivers of dell studio xps 1645 by download. Sounds appears when I installed this driver, but it is not as it should. I mean whenever I do reboot or turn off and then on the laptop, the sound will not come up to what I do reinstall the driver again. The thing is that I have to reinstall the driver whenever I want to use the laptop. can you help me out of this problem? is there any solution for this? I did some research until I get the way to recover my sound, but yes I'm stuck with this relocation pilot to use sound. I did troubleshooting of windows and he said nothing wrong with it. I'll also technician support close to home and they couldn't find anything wrong. I therefore ask microsoft in the hope that they know the way

    . Thank you.

    Hi Felix,.

Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of community of Microsoft.

I understand that the sound of your system plays only after you update the audio drivers. The question could arise due to the installation of the corrupt or incompatible driver package.

Before troubleshooting, I would like to inform you that the drivers for the model of your system on the Dell Web site are displayed for Windows Vista, by default. So, I recommend you to change the operating system to Windows 7 while choosing for pilots.

In addition, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Try running the fixit for audio playback of Windows problems and check if it helps.

Diagnose and solve the problems of Windows audio playback automatically

If the problem persists, try the following method.

    Method 2:

If you have installed Windows 7 drivers from the website and have not properly been able to play the audio, then I suggest you to install the Windows Vista drivers from Dell site in compatibility mode and check for the issue.

    1. Download the Windows Vista driver on the Dell website.
    2. Right-click on the downloaded driver file.
    3. ClickProperties , and then select the compatibility tab.
    4. Check enable the option run this program in compatibility mode for: , then select Windows Vista from the drop down.
    5. Click OK and install the driver.

  • My internal speakers sound terrible?

I just buy my MacBook Pro (mid-2012) yesterday and something so expensive, my speakers are downright awful. I must admit that my musical knowledge is adequate (to not kill me if I use a little evil) but it feels like there is no bass or treble. They sound just so "hollow" If you know what I mean. When I plug the apple earbuds, they sound a lot and even on my audio computer Dell laptop for £300 sounds good (well, certainly much better than my current experience). Is this a common problem or is it just me?

Audio feels like I'm listening through them terribly cheap, really crap headphones (you know the ones you get with android phones)

    Hello

Yes I heard there was a problem on some of the new MacBook Pro, you can try pressing ⌘⌥2 (Command-Option-2) and it will bring up the equalizer. When you open go to the side where you see "pre-amp". If it isn't already, click on the box that says on and then turn it to the top. It might be useful it might not.

  • problems with dell inspiron 15 3521: bios, graphics driver, drive Max

OK first let me start off with audio I bought this laptop earlier this month and I noticed after a week tht one of the speakers has not been done no sound so I looked and most of the people, said her probably a driver or a balance so I checked all kinds of sounds tested left balance speaker mute or not mute (only the left speaker works) I uninstalled the drivers (realtek) tried it out with the Trusted (sarcasm) windows 8 drivers only its tht came was left aside I also checked with him the dell windows Diagnostics both before windows he showed tht, everything was perfect and diagnostics bios dell had a sound check, so I tried it and only had sound in the left (so im guessing this is not not a windows problem). So if I miss sumthing here pls enlighten me as I have not installed sound mods vlc or wutever so I don't skip infact I don't think I've ever done my volume sound goto 100.

Second problem is the bloody grahics driver first time I opened my laptop, he told me to check my graphics driver and started acting out (my screen was blurry) so I tried to install the latest driver that didn't help so I returned the laptop and got a new... same problem after I found theres a specific driver that he recommended that works. Now if any of you are assuming that oh so what just cuz the graphics driver is not up to this day he should at least perform normally not act as sumthings broken or overheated... .well not it not anyho is the problem always sumtimes asks me to check my catalyst (he does not do anything when I click it) but that's all it works fine another tht can and I'm not sure if this is related to the graphics or disc bt sumtimes it turns off automatically and selects on some im do (especially on firefox) also tht problem was on my first computer laptop bt it was very common
This brings us the third disk problem... the system is great other then all of these problem bt sumtimes I noticed it starts hanging in the boot and the reason behind it is I noticed that on my task manager, the disk will 100% use mainly cuz of system and antivirus loaded thereon im bt guessin' meadow is a windows problem 8 I don't really know

OH and I almost forgot the Yes of the bios when I had my second laptop as the third day, there was a mistake that I woke up that I had left my laptop on all night on a normal surface meaning, there is no heat or anything like that... it wasn't hot anyho has committed a random error sum which I restarted my pc came to the dell screen and then a black screen that he said media controls and then FAIL
then he said control media FAIL and it starts normally and it does every day since tht then of course diagnostics and everything works fine, he said that everything is fine TELL me HOW to MAKE IT GO AWAY

    azk_1
Yes, it was the front windows dell dignostics the f12 wen u GET u turn on the pc

That might have been the PSA Diagnostics. Dell 32-bit audio Diagnostics play a piece of music, but the PSA tests just play system sounds. Anyway, you wrote "and the bios dell diagnostics had a sound check, then I tried and didn't sound in the left. If you did not hear audio in right during the diagnostics speaker then the speaker needs to be replaced.

    azk_1
BT he nevr said that he self tht the speakers have a problem, he said everything was fine

No matter what the tests said - it is important only if you can hear the sound of the set of tests. If you can't hear it there is a hardware problem.

    azk_1
and what abt the error its also before starting windows... .black screen then it says media controls and then fail whats tht abt

  • No sound from new XPS one 27 - feel that it must be user error!

Can anyone help?  I bought my new Dell last month and it's a great machine.  However, I noticed this week that he not there no sounds coming from him, but I use it to watch DVDs, listen to music etc no problem at all.  As far as I can tell nothing has changed and my suspicion is user error, I managed to mute the speakers.  However, I tried a few things.

    (1) verified that the speakers are not silent - by clicking on the lower right and the volume control and making sure mute is not clicked.

    (2) I checked the sound setup in device - no error Manager.

    (3) I even clicked on the sound settings and there is a two speakers and the other being Realtek Digital Output.  It's actually the speakers that are checked, although I have no speakers - but I also tried the Realtek Digital Output default setting.

    (4) I tried the sound tool from Microsoft that is displayed when you follow the Dell support pages regarding sound.

As I say, I'm sure that someone in the family did something to turn off all sound but I don't know where to look next?  I have not tried drivers etc as a new machine, and we were all working well.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

Rebooted machine - which I had already tried and this time everything works great... very strange

  • Audio options Dell half visible only

Hi, I have a strange problem.

I have a Dell XPS L702X with Sound Blaster and Realtek High Definition Audio.

Normally when I plug my headphones, I get a pop up option which asks me to choose what I plugged in, usually headphone/speaker on 2 of my 3 ports. However, sometimes, this option is visible half, it is as if the window is converted to right. Its a little hard to explain, check out the picture here:

    https://docs.Google.com/file/d/0B7oaVJx3juiKTEM2blAtSTQ0Yzg/edit?USP=sharing

Now, it's OK if I could up/down arrows and the Enter key, click on the 'OK' button, but the application does not have the key (really bad design - I'm a software developer!). You can only use the mouse, and you cannot drag the screen in the display using the top bar. Therefore, you cannot select option you want when it appears.

It is not all the time however, it appears randomly. Sometimes, it appears normally, sometimes not. But it is very frustrating that the application cannot be controlled keyboard. Seriously, someone in the software team that designed this needs a foot in the ass!

Oh and to resolve this problem, open the Task Manager and close the Realtek HD Audio Manager process. You will then need to launch 'Audio Dell' through your menu. Unplug the headphones, plug them in. Most of the time it works on the first try, but sometimes it takes 2 or 3 (or about 8 or 9 is my maximum!) attempts before working. Rinse and repeat until this successful. Close and restart seem less reliable than that, for some strange reason, I suspect that some sort of configuration is saved when you restart because the process is closed securely.

  • Quality Inspiron Audio Dell?

    Hello

do you know how is the audio quality of Dell Inspiron comparing to other manufaturers? I used to work with Lenovo T520 + helmet hi-end, sound was good. Now I use the same headset hi-end with brand new Dell Inspiron, and the sound it produces is not satisfactory. I downloaded the latest audio driver from Dell and still is not good. By bad I mean that you can not make a difference between not expensive and headphone hi-end when the Inspiron. Serial number is maintain the label removed by privacy policy >

Perhaps it would be Inspiron comes with his crappy card and there is no point wasting audio drivers update time. If this is the case, please let me know without hesitation.

    Hi Lidoopus,

I checked the configuration of the system; your laptop has Maxx 4 Audio which can be used to enhance the audio effects. You can configure the audio settings according to your taste.

This system is also the audio embedded with skull candy speakers and subwoofer.

  • No sound via bluetooth A2DP with 355, inspiron 1525 wireless

I have a Yamaha YBA - 10 bluetooth dock receiver.  I can easily listen to music from my LG phone but when I try the same thing with the Dell I have no sound.

The Inspiron 1525 and the Yamaha receiver properly disconnect and connect and illustrate this on their respective menus.  However, I never heard a single glance of the 1525 audio transfer to the Yamaha receiver.  The receiver is associated as a stereo headset.

Inspiron 1525, bought in July 08, Dell wireless 355 bluetooth card, purchased in September.

in the VISTA sounds dialog box there is a test button and I also don't get any sound when I try this.

    What else can I try?
