  I have 2 PC, 1 is 2 years and 1 that is brand new.  Both have Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 on them completely up-to-date, and Desktop Gadgets do not work on either.  I went to control panel > programs > Windows features on or off turn on and the Windows Gadgets is activated in its box.  However, Gadgets will not launch when I click on the Desktop Gadgets in the control panel or from the desktop.  I really want to use weather bug and all UC, especially the counter cpu I want to actively monitor the performance of my cpu and memory.

  Try to restore the default Gadgets in Windows 7

  1. open the control panel (in category view), and then click appearance and personalization.

  2. click on the "restore the desktop gadgets installed with Windows

  3. This will bring to the top of the window of the Gadgets from office with a message indicating "administrator installed gadgets and all the windows have been restored.

  4. When finished, simply close the Panel and Desktop Gadgets

  4. then enter the following directory:

  5 find the IconCache.db file and rename it as IconCache.db.old.

  I installed Windows Search 4.0 installed on my machine yesterday. I added my file & Outlook to search settings, but it doesn't seem to be indexing at all. If I manually start indexing it immediately says "Index complete.", but it does not change the result of the search.

  Finally, I would also add 2 network drives to my data indexed for search, but I think this requires an add-on. Once I get Desktop Search works perfectly, I want to do this. Any suggestions are welcome.
