Desktop screen problem

Why the my screen is all white, with the exception of a 2 "wide strip of top down on the left side, only on the screen? Thing I do is the way that it supposed to be. It's just like that on the desktop. And when the pc is turned on, it appears the desktop image full screen just before its completely initialized. And when stopping down, it shows the image full screen of the office, just before it stops.

I tried a lot of things in case of problem, but it is not an option, which suggests the problem. And I've tried hundreds of different pictures of funds from many different sources, including my own photos. It started some time ago and I was try and ask but nothing helped. The great white is never going away on the desktop.

Help, please! Anyone?

Hi Marilynne Allenstein,

1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2 are you able to access all the items on the desktop except the white screen?

3. do you have security software installed on the computer?

First unplug and plug back in the computer monitor, check if that helps.

Method 1

I suggest that you change desktop theme and check if it helps.

Make Windows XP as you wish

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-XP/help/Setup/personalize-Windows-XP

Method 2

If the previous step fails, then check if the problem persists in the safe mode and after return with details.

A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

If the steps above don't then connect another monitor to the computer and check if it works.

    Hello
My satellite 1800-921 has started to give me a black screen after I turn it on. It loads well, go to the desktop and then the screen turns white and I can't make it respond. We can just distinguish the dialogs on the screen so I don't know if it is a screen problem or things I see on the screen are just ghosts...
    It's a bit worrying!
Does anyone else have this problem? So far, it seems to happen when I turn it on. Usually, I have to turn it off and reboot to get it back and then it works very well.

    Hello

to the old series, it may be that the FL inverter is broken or damaged the tupe of backlight. In both cases, you can see the screen but without backlight!

To differi if it is a hard - or software error, you should start the laptop and ESC immediately to enter the BIOS. Then the machine must be running half an hour in the BIOS. When the rupture occurred it is quite sure that some hardware is broken. Otherwise, it is a software based and a restore with recovery CD Toshiba should solve the problem!

  • On my Satellite C660-174 desktop screen does not open properly

I'm a newbie here so my question is maybe obvious to some, but not for me!

My laptop Satellite C660-174 (running Windows 7) ceased to open correctly. Everything is normal until my password is entered. Rather than open up to my "desktop" with its icons all on the side I get a page with a banner "Toshiba Leading Innovation" through it and only four random icons on the side.

How to restore my desktop screen and all the icons?

    Help will be appreciated.

It's really not easy to understand what you see exactly.
Can you please take a picture and send a link where we can see it?

I really don't understand what could be the problem, but what you can try is to start your machine with F8 and enter advanced startup options. Choose the entry 'Repair your computer', then press 'Enter '. Go forward until you enter the system recovery options. Try to system restore to earlier date. Perhaps this will help you solve problem described.

  • Laptop HP pavilion 17-f115dx: start window and desktop screen

The problem is the flashes of desktop screen between a blank blue screen with a task bar and a desktop at startup screen. My splash screen comes first, and no problem until I find myself on the desktop, then it flashes between other screens and also the splash screen. I have to control alt delete to close.

I found the solution on another thread-

    1. press CTRL Alt Delete

    2. go in Task Manager

    3. go to the Services tab

    4. look to the bottom of the window, and then click Open Services

    5. under the name of the category to find Windows Error Reporting Service

    6. right click and select Properties

    7. go in Startup Type and change to disabled

    8. click on apply, and then click OK

    The flashing should stop immediately

    Alternative route:

    1. press CTRL Alt Delete

    2. go in Task Manager

    3. Select the file--> a new task

    4. type msconfig, then click ok

    5. Select the Services tab

    6. under the name of the category to find Windows Error Reporting Service & uncheck

    7. click on apply, and then click OK

8 restart your computer & when you connect the flashing should be gone

The first set of directions worked for me, but someone else did the second set because they couldn't do the first.

    Hope this helps!

We have also restored the system to the last restore point, reinstall the memory and reset the BIOS - all the HP recommended processes for video problems.
Current situation: we have yet to solve problems via the web HP site first; This has left us speechless. I have advanced and complete steps 8-14 in the correction procedure from HP, including the center of the Action to "never check solutions" are reduced to problem reports. Then we went ahead and made the Microsoft Updates that were pending since we had it restored to a previous restore point. So far so good! The flashing screen problem is not returned. • Desktop screen moved down

My desktop screen moved down and now he's partially hiding my taskbar and I have an empty space at the top of the screen. It's on any screen located to the top. How can I move the screen to the top. By clicking on it and try to drag does nothing.

From what you describe, all that is needed perhaps a minor change of a parameter.

Some monitors/LCDs have the ability to move the entire screen to the right, left, up, left - all sorts of directions. See the documentation for your monitor/LCD what to do. Probably, the adjustment controls are located at the front, below the bottom half of the monitor / LCD, near the base.

  • While to my desktop screen; the error on blue screen appeared... STOP: Ox0000000c5 (Ox00000002, Ox00000001, Ox00000004, Ox805515A1)

Original title: in my desktop screen. the BSOD appeared...

    Hello everyone,

While to my desktop screen (don't remember if I was doing anything however), the BSOD appears, indicating the system stopped to avoid any damage occurs.

The following was then shown (exactly as you see):

    STOP: Ox0000000c5 (Ox00000002, Ox00000001, Ox00000004, Ox805515A1)

Then a memory dump has been launched.

The only way to get rid of the blue screen was to unplug the computer from the power source, then turn it back on.  After reboot, "error reporting box" appears asking if I wanted to report this error to Microsoft I did), then closed the box.  Almost immediately after, the computer I connected to the Internet to a site that says "Microsoft error report" in the upper left corner of the screen.

Then, there was some additional information about the page displayed on some system functions in my computer does not.  I was directed to click on a link to the so-called "Roxio...?  & then asked to download, "Pxengine 4_18_16A.exe(Provided by Sonic Solutions, version 1.13.37.0, created on 20/07/2009).

This is now a 5th time a blue screen appeared during 5 days.  This time, the only difference is in the codes and being redirected to the page described above to download something I've never heard of and have no idea of what it is supposed to do.

I would appreciate any information that someone has just what it is.  I'm simply puzzled.

Thank you very much in advance!

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes on the computer before this problem?

2 do you have software Roxio installed on the computer? If so, then Uninstall the software and check.

You can also check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.

    Hi G Conrad, j.

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

I would appreciate it if you could provide the error message to better support on the issue. In addition, I would like you to answer the following questions to refine the question.

    • You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?
    • You are able to use the system anyway after the system hangs at startup?

There are a few reasons your computer might hang, freeze, or crash. So I would say, you can remove the external devices except the mouse and keyboard, try the following steps and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Step 1: Try to start your system in a State of services necessary to the operation and a minimum set of drivers enabled, called Safe Mode.
Start your computer in safe mode

Step 2: If the system works fine in safe mode, try to clean the system startup:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: See "how to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair.

If method 1 does not work, see the steps in the following link and check if they are useful.

8.1 Windows, Windows 8 or Windows 7 hangs or freezes

Disclaimer : The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.
