• The details of the Oracle application error

  I think that I should know the answer to this, but I can't so I ask.
  
  I support a Delphi (i.e. compiled) application that accesses a database of Oracle (Oracle 10 g, Windows XP). Right now in certain circumstances, the application encounters an error and sets up a message box saying that there is an error ORA-00942: table or view does not exist. I looked in various CRT and try to find the name of the table or the view, that the program is trying to access, but unsuccessfully to log files. For the database TRACE_ENABLED is true. Windows event logs also contains nothing relevant.
  
  Is it possible that I can coax Oracle telling me the name of the table or view on which it is stumbling?

  You can 942 events either as an instance in the init.ora parameter / spfile.ora or via a logon trigger

  event = "942 trace name ERRORSTACK 3 level".

  Which will cause an Oracle server processes write to a trace file when 942 occurs. You would get the SQL statement from there, and you'd have to look at every table in the statement (or the table in view of the statement).

• Oracle patch in general

  I have the following questions regarding the oracle patch

  1. I learned from my s/n superior, saying that the application of the fix can be another bug? is this true? Can you share your experience, if any?

  2. is it good idea to apply any patches for a specific version (for example oracle 11 g r1) without consulting the Oracle support

  It is recommended?

  3. the question of whether the patch script will vary from instance ASM and no - ASM? or would be the same?

  4. how the Oracle bug id is different from patch set? In some cases, the Group of hotfixes is same as the id of the bug? is it possible to distinguish these two terms?

  5. is it possible to identify the list of patches and bugs corrected by querying the dictionary of oracle database?

  6. do make sense to apply a lot of patchsets in go - one rather than one. I mean apply a patch and wait 1-2 weeks and if we don't face any problem apply the second patch and so on.

  NOT if there are scripts to fix POST. You will find in the correction of document when you apply a patch. Patching docs have step step of the instructions.

  I'm a little confused by this feedback. Especially when you say that you see the option "install - do not configure. Should this option is visible only when you run the Basic 11.1.1.2 PFRD the software installer. The Group of hotfixes 11.1.1.4 has his own 'runInstaller'... and this will display what you see in the viewlet. You definitely run the installer from the directory of stage in the Group of hotfixes? (I'll do my own validation test - if I find something strange going on... I'll report.)

  I now take the following action

  1. I will put the Viewlet so it is clear that the Group of hotfixes is staged in a different place from the base 11.1.1.2 media
  2. provide that nothing must be running (because at this point, no instance of 11 g of construction has been configured)
  3. There's a "slippage" that illustrates the Middleware and Oracle Home entries in the screen "Location of Installation to specify" IE

  Middleware homepage: / u01/alca_portal/middleware
  Oracle home: PFRD_Binaries

  However, you will see that this slide for 2 seconds (which is an error) and if you miss it probably.

  Just FYI - the House of Oracle 11 g correction is in general the same procedure as patching a mid-layer House AS10g i.e

  -You set the Oracle Home base using the installation of the basic software program
  -You patch the Oracle home using the installation program of the Group of hotfixes

  You can query the tables BNE_ATTRIBUTES, attribut2 is the name of the package.

  Select * from BNE_ATTRIBUTES

  where attribute1 as 'PROCEDURE '.

  The attribute_code should be that of an integrator with a PO_ATT at the end.

  For the use of integrator_code what follows

  Select * from bne_integrators_vl where user_name as what you see on the screen.

  We then applied the PSU in APRIL 2013 to the database.
  
  When we try to apply the patch at our level of applications:

  On the application of this hotfix, the following errors is returned:

  This is why we are APRIL 2013 for the database layer and OCT2012 for Applications.

  1. copy pyshpslp.jsp manually from the patch directory in $PAY_TOP/html
  2. make a backup of the file of the driver patch
  3. change (u.drv) patch driver file and comment out the following line (# highlight the copy command)

  copy # pay html pyshpslp.jsp 115,3

  Multiple sales in individual sales division is to do before sending it to the Oracle application adapter in BEPL/BSE/OSB. As far as I know Oracle Application adaptation for Peoplesoft has no option available.

  Transformation of splitting can be easily done in BSE/OSB/BPEL.
