  Can someone explain to me how to manage permissions for users on the network?  It's easy to do the job when I talk to local users, but I can't find a way to add computers to the dialog box object types. I have only options of theses: built-in security principals, users and groups. In the locations list, I see only my computer and cannot find how to add computers to all networks.

  For Windows XP, it makes a difference if "Simple file sharing" is enabled or disabled.  Simple file sharing is * always * activated if you have Windows XP Home Edition and it is the default setting in XP Pro.  Sharing files Simple enabled, * all * users who are connected to a network on your machine are forced to authenticate on the machine as the 'Guest' user - which means that you have no user authentication in Windows Home or XP Pro without disabling Simple file sharing.  This means that every network user has access only to files to the files which has permissions for the Guest user.

  If you have XP Pro and disable Simple file sharing, then you can ask users to authenticate on your local machine and give everyone access to its own set of file permissions.  If the user connects to a network computer that contains the same user name and password that the user is currently logged on the local computer, the authentication is automatic.

  I'm helping a friend with a problem with its Satellite L850 - 1 5.

  No battery detected is report to Windows, and the light on the front of the machine of battery flashes orange slowly.

  I saw a few forums suggesting removing the power and the battery and holding down the button for 30 seconds. I tried a few times and seems not to have had any effect.

  Is there something that can be done, or is broken for good battery?

  I found a working answer to the Microsoft web site. A record appropriate to the real problem-solvers to the destination address.

  There is a registry key that captures the State of the State of opening and closing of the main files in the Explorer on the left Nav-component, which can be set in the left of the Explorer, Explorer closed to set the key "reg", then the value of reg key manually turned to unalterable.   As a feature add-on to what precedes, I understand this info because the comma/space syntax is different for Win7 vs. WinXP / other versions which is well documented on the web sites. This sytnax opens the Explorer to your file preferred, separate records that are expanded / collapsed with the answer provided to the direct question of this thread, but usually directly related to the objective of opening explore according to your specific needs.

  Here are the command line parameters to further open Explorer to a directory preferred in Win7 32-bit Home Premium. Create a shortcut with this command as a target line: C:\Windows\explorer.exe explore/e/root, / select "C:\". ","C:\PreferredDataDir ".

  users change/update records using the form on a table with the report.

  There is a comments column to record the latest updates; users must add their name and the date at the top.

  I am currently using a button that calls a dynamic action to execute javascript to insert the date and the user at the top of the text in the field comments (UPDATES_NEW_ON_TOP)

  Here's what you can try:

  1. start Windows Media Player.

  2. press F3 on your keyboard to open the add to the library of the find computers dialog box.

  3. click on the Browse button to locate the file on your computer so that your library contains invalid entries. Specify the location of the folder in the box look in.

  If you are not sure what duplicate in your library entry is not valid, you can add a path column to display your library by following the instructions in the last question. Specify the folder on your computer that matches the path invalid file displayed in your library.

  1. click on the search button.

  If only a small number of duplicate entries exist, you can delete those invalid manually by double-clicking the invalid entry and then clicking on delete.

  If you have a large number of entries in doubles in your library (or if your library is duplicated), it might be better to create a new library

  Here's how you can create the media library:

  1. close Windows Media Player.

  2. Locate the database on the computer that contains the entries of your library. In general, the library database file (CurrentDatabase_219.wmdb) is located in the following directory:

  Avoid duplicate music files to avoind the music automatically added. To prevent music files to be automatically added to your library:

  1. in Windows Media Player, on the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. on the Player tab, clear the files of music to add to the library when played check box.

  Now, when you play music on your computer or the Internet, the file will not be added automatically to your library.

• Need help to set up officejet pro 8600 and scanning to the network on OSX Lion folder

  I'm trying to implement my Officejet Pro 8600 more scan to a network under OSX Lion folder.  I have correctly set up the printer otherwise (and can scan and flown from my Mac).  I created SMB sharing as described in the documentation.  My only question is what to enter in the Web server of the printer when it asks for the network path of the shared folder.

  For example, I have the following shared folder:

  / Users/me/Documents/scans/Durable goods received

  on my computer that has name is:

  My iMac

  has an IP address:

  172.16.1.4

  wonder web server of the printer a network path (for example: \\mypc\sharedfolder) but I do not know how to translate my way above in the correct format.

  I tried the following:

• Cannot connect to internet after a reboot before you uninstall and then reinstall the network card. (After the upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista)

  This problem started immediately after the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) to Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit).  Again, I want to remind that I never had this problem before installing Windows 7.

  -After a reboot, I am presented with the impossible to connect the network indicator (yellow triangle with!) in the task bar.  (It was how I was welcomed after the installation of Windows 7 is said by the way).

  -The only way I found to regain connectivity is to uninstall and reinstall the network via the device manager card, date at which the computer always successfully connects and remains connected until the next reboot.

  Thus, we have solved the problem! There are two possibilities of your problems:
  1 company Adobe uses the Bonjour service , this service should be disabled.
  Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services => find the bonjour service (sometimes stated as long numbers), stop service and if the Disabled value. It works!

  2. If it is not signed as Bonjour service. Try to disable the service:

  Have you encountered a problem like this is Nati sp1 or sp2, currently when I get problem like that I solve (we run system restore or Startup Repair last option: reinstall the operating system)

  symptoms: System very slow and unable to boot or just freezes on the Welcome screen, or sometimes not even vista starts in safe mode or safe mode command prompt.
  I tried the next option, this has worked for me in some cases. but not many times.

  I open a command prompt terminal high, do you it by logging in as an administrator as launching the cmd.exe as an administrator (right click, run as administrator). Then type the following command that uninstalls the device said:

  netcfg EI u ms_sstpminiport

  want to know is there permanent fix or patches for this problem and why this is happening only in vista. I also had windows 7 and xp sp3. I had no problems in that.

  If this does not work, download Autoruns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx and go to the tab all. See if you can find the place where the device (or at least the driver) is loading and uncheck to stop to happen.  Click OK and exit, and reboot and see if the problem persists.  It cannot remove the device or the driver, but if he let them go then the problem is solved until we can find a way to remove actually - hopefully without needing a repair system/upgrade or a clean installation.
