Management of permissions for users on the network.

My question is General and related to xp and windows 7 as well.

Can someone explain to me how to manage permissions for users on the network?  It's easy to do the job when I talk to local users, but I can't find a way to add computers to the dialog box object types. I have only options of theses: built-in security principals, users and groups. In the locations list, I see only my computer and cannot find how to add computers to all networks.

For Windows XP, it makes a difference if "Simple file sharing" is enabled or disabled.  Simple file sharing is * always * activated if you have Windows XP Home Edition and it is the default setting in XP Pro.  Sharing files Simple enabled, * all * users who are connected to a network on your machine are forced to authenticate on the machine as the 'Guest' user - which means that you have no user authentication in Windows Home or XP Pro without disabling Simple file sharing.  This means that every network user has access only to files to the files which has permissions for the Guest user.

If you have XP Pro and disable Simple file sharing, then you can ask users to authenticate on your local machine and give everyone access to its own set of file permissions.  If the user connects to a network computer that contains the same user name and password that the user is currently logged on the local computer, the authentication is automatic.

    If you want to implement dot1x Cisco NAC is not the solution because it's not dot1x for cable customers.

    Your best bet is to go with Cisco ISE. You don't have to install any software and can choose to use the native windows supplicant.

    I have deployed an Application in OSH where the doors of the web are installed. In OAM 11 G, I created the Userid as OVD store and created policies for that. and I was able to protect the application.

    But authentication works very well for users of the OID. But does not not for users of the AD (saying ID user and password are incorrect)

    Part of the OID, AD with TPM. but the AD authentication does not work.

    Hi Kiran,

    Check that the name attribute of such user as defined in the Data Source is mapped in TPM attribute AD that you plan to hold the user name. Perhaps, it is use usrprincipalname instead of the samaccountname, or something like that? The oam_server1 - diagnostic.log, or newspapers OVD, may give more clues as to which is the problem.

    Whenever I have to connect as user sys as sysdba, I can connect at ease.

    But every time that I try with a user (one for monitoring tool). I get a message, database is in restricted mode.

    VCenter, connected as long as user with administrator privileges on the server, Active Directory running I am can be used to add permissions for domain accounts and just get errors:

    Right-click on the data center & gt; Add authorization & gt; Select read-only & gt; Add users and groups & gt; Select the domain & gt; (the list is NOT populated with users)

    Among users, enter my account of user AD & gt; Click on check names & gt; "The following names are not found: xxx".

    The only son I can find or KB articles relate to the modification of the period of Active Directory.  I did, but it did not help.

    Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition, vSphere Client 4.0.0 build 162856, vCenter Server 4.0.0 build 162856, ESXi 4.0.0 build 181792

    The problem that I had was related to what service vCenter services were running as.  No doubt during the installation (for some reason that escapes me now) I had configured the VMware VirtualCenter Server and VMware VirtualCenter Management Web services run under the local administrator account.  Change these so they ran as system Local solved the problem, and then I have a list of domain users and assign them permissions.

  • Printer spooler does not work for a single user on the network printer

    original title: very different printer problem

    I have a HP deskjet printer shared from a PC on the network.
    I was informed of a single person could not access error poped by saying "printer spooler does not work.
    I went to the services and made sure it was infact running and rebooted to be sure also restarted the RPC services as it is addictive
    Still, the user cannot print to the printer. I took the computer that has been seen issues and hung where fixed my PC and I am able to connect and print!

    If I move my computer witch would allow me to print before there where his computer is my computer prompt same error

    My idea is - what some are how a network issue, but the user can still access drives network, internet and other printers on the network

    Just not this printer

    The computer on the share is is a windows xp sp2 workstation

    The computer with the issue is any system I plug its cable Ethernet (XP anyway) I have not tried with a windows machine 7.

    My hypothesis is a bad Ethernet cable? I'm quite lost with this question at this stage.

    My next step is to hang the printer until a print area and assign an IP address and finish with the share.

    (Still not sure if it would help or not)

    It turned out to be a bad switch. I don't understand why it did not work. All the computers had no problems other than the present even that if I swapped the ports it has made a difference.

    Hung new switch and all computers works fine now.

    When I try to reboot the DSO after a reboot of the server, I get

    ORA-15063: ASM discovered an insufficient number of drives for diskgroup "DATA".

    It seems the permission of disks have changed after the reboot. I guess the spfile is inside the DATA diskgroup because it can not even start ASM. When I create a file with values asm_diskgroup and asm_diskstring pfile and 777 on the drive, I managed to start the ASM.

    * .asm_diskgroups = "INDX", "DATA".

    * .asm_diskstring = "/ dev / *'"

    $ oracleasm querydisk p - DATA

    Disk 'DATA' is a valid ASM disk

    And when I read the documentation I see this ' that the owner of the ORACLE binary file has permissions to read/write on the discs"(so do not run required) but the problem is that this test server should have the same parameters as in production.     Remember that the permissions of the device must be configured so that the owner of the Oracle database or the process has full access to the appropriate device files. It is not enough to only give ASM full authorization for devices files. ASM provides management for volume, but the database has direct access to device files and ASM does not interfere with inputs and outputs. You can set up groups and owner accordingly. If you have a different owner for ASM, you must assign appropriate groups to give full access ASM configuring oracleasm.
