Device Manager doesn't detect external cd drive

My external LG DVD writer Super Multi play more on my Acer Aspire One. under Windows XP. He plays on a different computer, so I know it works very well. I used a flash drive on all the USB ports on the Acer so I know they work. I tried the disk drive on all USB ports, but did not work. Fix tried regedit "upper and lower filters" found on the internet - did not help. I tried Windows Quick Fix - did not help. He noted that some corrections have been made, but there will always be problems. It does not say what - the next button just to leave me with a window asking what they could do to help. (Stupid question). I reset to a previous set value - did not help. The LG say that they provide no drivers that all their products run on native Windows drivers. Acer technology referred me to people from Microsoft Windows. The LG player correctly purrs when it is plugged into the USB port and the glow of green light. I ensured that the player was clean (/ alcohol swab). The disc is clean. Once again, I have played the disc on the drive but attached to another computer and everything worked fine.  I think that it is a driver problem. I read the forum messages that say when Windows sends updates that they often ruin the drivers and some people report that they continue to re - download drivers for their external players. Anyone know what to do about this situation? Thank you. -J.

Want to add that he won't play disk program or cd music disk.

Your post says "Device Manager doesn't detect external cd drive" if so you cannot change the driver if your devive is not listed in Device Manager. Try to connect to a powered hub.

    Hello

Try to connect the external hard drive on another computer and check if the same problem persists.

I suggest that you set the drive letter for the external hard drive and check if that helps.

To assign a drive letter to a drive, a partition, or a volume, follow these steps:

    1. Sign in as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group.
    2. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click performance and Maintenance.

Note If you do not see the performance and Maintenance, go to step 3. Performance and Maintenance appears in control Panel only if you use category view. If you are using the classic view, performance and Maintenance does not appear.

    3. Click Administrative Tools, double-click computer management, and then click disk management in the left pane.
    4. Right click on the drive, the partition, the logical drive or volume that you want to assign a drive letter to and then click change drive letter and paths.
    5. Click on Add.
    6. Click assign the following drive letter if it is not already selected, and then accept the default drive letter or click the drive letter that you want to use.
    7. Click OK.

  • Device Manager does not detect the gpu performance

Hello everyone, I've had my laptop for a couple of years now. He is currently the normal edition of HP Envy 17 t - 2100. A time back well before this problem I had to re - install windows 7 and of course while I downloaded all the drivers. I was still not able to download the switchable graphics driver / program. I don't know if this is related to the issue or not.

The MAIN question, I though, is that my laptop no longer recognizes the high performance GPU (AMD Radeon 6850 M). I tried to install the drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling again. But no luck. If someone can point me in the right direction or has any idea what I can do, I would be very gratefull!

    Hi JoshSa,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your son on your t-2100 HP Envy 17 laptop and graphics problems. Here is a link to your driver and software for graphic design. Download presents first and then uninstall what you have within you the graphics drivers in Device Manager.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

  • HP m8120n no Ethernet in the Device Manager and not detected

    Hey all:

I have a desktop HP Pavilion Media Center m8120n (product sheet here) and I recently did an installion of installation clean factory, Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with a DVD retail of Windows. I managed to get the drivers for almost everything, but there are some persistent problems.

The most serious of them is Ethernet. I can't find drivers ethernet for this machine, even after the update of Windows running several times, no hardware drivers have been found. The ethernet controller/port is not still appear in Device Manager at all!

I tried to use the driver for this calculation pager on the HP support site, but there is no mention of all the Ethernet/LAN drivers at all.

I read that sometimes it is important to update the chipset first driver in order to get the job of ethernet. Since HP provides no chipset driver, I decided to try updating the chipset 8120n with theutility to update Intel drivers Intel's Support page.  I have updated to version 9.4.0.1017, once the Web page has scanned my system. However, even after the update the chipset and Windows restarts, I have still no Ethernet at all.

Depending on the product specifications page, under the section network, the computer uses a controller Ethernet Intel 82566DC. However, after trying to install the driver for the Intel 82566DC since the Intel, the installer website told me that no network controller Intel were present on the system.

What is really worrying, is that not only does the Device Manager does not even see an Ethernet controller, but the Intel drivers update utility didn't recognize it under the section "Wired" after that the latter had analyzed my computer. Ethernet controller also does not appear under system information.

I'm starting to wonder if it is a hardware issue and not a driver problem at all! The Ethernet port may be damaged or does not work for Windows do not install the drivers, or even recognize it.

Does anyone have advice or steps I could take to rule the hardware problem and find a driver that works for my installation of Windows 7 on this computer?

"Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." -Issac Asimov, from its roman Foundation.

Good new! It worked! It was really the BIOS that was causing the problem.

On the Advanced Settings tab, there is an entry called Onboard LAN off, just like the desktop I have to work!

After booting, Windows installed the drivers for it right away, and now I get to enjoy this sweet Gigabit speed on my network!

I'm so happy that it was not a hardware problem, and that it was a simple change to the configuration of the BIOS.

    Thanks for all your help!

    I'm as resolved marker.

  • Device Manager have to finish installing updated driver (recommended)

I get this message every time I boot my laptop. I took the ask me later option and checked to see if I have the latest update of driver (NVIDIA GeForce 8200 m) and Device Manager indicates that I do. I check with NVIDIA and they want delete me the two files that I can't find in the registry (ISUSPM startup) and ISUSScheduler. Another site says remove the driver and install it manually. NVIDIA recommends the use of my computer is built to do the installation. What should I do?

I tried the solution of joel S but it did not work. I still got the message "finish the installation of the driver." I did a search online and stumbled on what seems to have solved the problem. Some people think UAC is the problem and suggested to disable. Then I turned off the User Account Control feature and rebooted my computer. The message went away after I restarted my computer. I have re-enabled the UAC feature and the problem did not return. I don't update my NVIDIA driver anytime soon. From what I found on the net, NVIDIA has had this problem with their drivers for a couple of years.
