Device Manager - no information screen

When I put it up the Device Manager I don't get any information about the devices in my HP laptop.

The computer is running Windows XP Home.
I tried many patches offered on the internet.
It seems that I need to install Windows, but HP did not provide me the disc.  I have the ID of the software on the back of the computer
the standard Windows sticker.
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thank you

    Hello

I've had my laptop for 2 or 3 years, and the sound was always very well. Yesterday morning my computer came suddenly with the sound with a red X icon. She was not dumb, and yet no sound came. The sound options show that no audio or recording devices are installed (for disabled AND disconnected devices). There is no 'of sound devices or video game"in Device Manager. Information system shows no information (empty) under its device. However, in Device Manager, under system devices, "High Definition Audio Controller" has a yellow caution icon and cannot start.
I have not installed a new OS or anything recently.
    I have a Dell Inspiron 1545
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Service Pack 1 (6.1.7601 Build 7601)
    Pentium Dual-Core CPU
    64-bit operating system
    I tried:
    • Relocation and reactivation of "High Definition Audio Controller". I rebooted. No change.
    • Go to the Dell website, download audio drivers for my label service and installation. We decompress in the drivers folder and nothing happens. One will be unzip, try to take me by another plant for IDT Audio and then say 'the hardware found is not supported by this IDT' and is abandoned. I rebooted. No change.
    • Install drivers in safe mode. I rebooted. No change.
    • In administrative tools > Services, I found "Windows Audio". He had started and was on "auto". Six of its dependencies (3 parents, 3 children) had started and were to "automatic".
    • I looked at the system restore. There was a "critical update" this morning here. I restored to a point before update and restarted. No change.
    • Looked in the BIOS for an option on the sound, but could not find one. Restore the BIOS default and rebooted. No change.
    • Ran Microsoft Fix It I rebooted. No change.
    • By clicking on the audio task bar icon runs the diagnostic window thing. It detects a problem with the description: "material changes may not have been detected.
    • Put on the headphones. Nothing changes.
I'll probably have to do a fresh install, am I not?
I would be very grateful if you could help, thanks.

    Right, I fixed it myself.

So I uninstalled "High Definition Audio Controller".
But this time, instead of just turning it back on and let it install it himself, I clicked on "Analysis of the hardware changes" (under the Action). He finds that a new device called PCI something under other devices.

Then I open up Windows Update and click on search for new updates (it also analyzes the drivers) and I think it just automatically reinstall "controller Audio high definition" and then there was no problem of yellow warning sign thing.

If it does not, simply play in Device Manager with looking for changes on the hardware and the update of bollocks.

If you're still stuck, try "Add inherited harware" (this will install an OLD device), click Advanced, click on "sound devices" and video games, wait a while, find a suitable device and continue the process...

  • The poor Internet behavior Device Manager error "' there is no selected for the item or a set of device driver information."

    Original title: poor Internet behavior.

I bought a laptop Lenovo X100e used with Windows 7 Professional. It was a great computer, but when I go on the internet, it behaves as if the connection is slow or wobbly, even if the connection is fast. This is especially true of the streaming video, who stutters so much, it is virtually impossible to watch Netflix or YouTube or any other video streaming service. It is also a great computer so I really want to solve this problem, rather than buying another computer.

I used this laptop on my network domestic WiFi so much and a direct connection with the same behavior. I diagnosed my network speed and its good, usually around 20Mps, again I tried this laptop in public places like Whole Foods, and it has the same: wobbly connection. I have an old Dell Latitude that works and it works great on the same network internet and I used my phone on my wifi at home and it works fine, so it's clearly the Lenovo.

The network cards are 11 b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter II and Realtek GBE Family Controller christophepaille. I checked the drivers for the two (using Device Manager), and they are both currently. I used the function "diagnose problems" and found nothing. I googled for problems with them and have not found much.

There is also a Qualcom Gobi 2000 listed (it's a WAN wireless driver for Windows 7) under other devices and he says "there is no driver selected for the item or a set of device information. I tried updating the driver, but got an error message saying "Cannot find Windows driver." software for your device I have no idea if this is relevant.

In addition, the laptop plays the video without any problem if it is a file on the local drive, such as mp4, so I don't think that the video problem is in itself. It is the general communication with a network. Again, I don't think it's a problem of wifi because I get the same behavior, even if I plug a cable network directly to my router.

Also, I tried several browsers updated, including Chrome, Firefox and IE. In addition, I ran several antivirus scans, and nothing is found.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • White Win 7 Device Manager screen

My HP 6v6t laptop running Win 7 Home Premium.  Wireless network works OK, but the network profiles disappeared.  Checking further, called from Control Panel Device Manager page is empty.  Otherwise machine works OK although I'm unable to find a path in network settings: IP, DHCP, etc.  I'm guessing that fix might restore or allow me to establish new wireless networks profiles, Device Manager.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

When you open Device Manager, no devices appear in the list. Instead, a blank window appears.

This problem occurs if the Plug-and-Play service has been disabled (disabled).

Method 1: To resolve this problem, set the startup type for Plug-and-Play on automatic. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start and run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

    b. double-click Plug-and-Play. If you receive a Configuration Manager message, click OK.

    c. in the Startup Type list, click Automatic, and then OK.

    d. close Services.

    e. restart the computer.

    Method 2:

The other reason, Device Manager may be empty is because there are some security issues with the registry key.

Note: serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry

    a. click on start-> Run-> type regedit.exe.

    b. search for the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum

    c. now right-click on Enum and click Permissions.

    d. click on the Add button and type everyone, and then click OK. Check the box allow next to the reading for everyone. Now click on add and enter the system. Check the box allow next to the read and full control to the system.

    e. the two check boxes under allow must be selected when you highlight the system. Also be sure to click on the Advanced button after adding the two users and select Reset entry permission on all child objects with the entries displayed here and that apply to child objects. Click OK.

    f. restart your computer now and check if the problem persists.

    Hello Rockin5b,

Not knowing what exactly you did, well lets give this a try. Have you tried to uninstall your device manager then reboot? If you then, have you tried this quick fix link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060. You need to uninstall all third-party software (example: Roxio, Nero, or iTunes) from your computer before you make the correction. After you restart, you can reinstall your software and try again to see if that solves your problem. Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

    Thanks for your reply.

Using a portable OEM version or office? They have total control over your system? You can only use it for the calculation of daily life.

If you can not enter the BIOS so no way to change the boot device priority.

    Better, you contact the OEM.

How are therefore continue on you can't get into the BIOS? Have you tried several times by pressing "Del" or the "F2" key during startup (when the first time OEM or any screen logo into your monitor after restart or reboot)?

    Hello

    (1) does the BIOS see the main hard disk drive or a secondary hard drive?

    (2) remember to make changes to the computer before the show?

You know may not be not that most systems are set to show only the splash screen. If you go into the BIOS Setup, it should show the disks that have been detected on two primary and secondary IDE channels.

Note: the basic procedure to change the setting of the disk controller is to restart your computer and enter the system BIOS. The most common method is to press F2 to enter Setup, (another PC may use a different key). On the BIOS screen, find the setting that offers the AHCI, ATA or IDE and RAID. If the parameter is set to AHCI, change the setting to ATA. Restart the PC on the Windows installation disc

Warning: Incorrect settings in the system BIOS can cause your PC function incorrectly. If you are not familiar with the configuration of the BIOS of the system, you must contact the PC manufacturer for assistance.

  • Blue indicator of Win 7 circle network ALSO hang Device Manager and MSE does not

I have a strange problem since the recent windows updates.

Indicator of network in the bar tasks displays a blue circle for about 20 minutes after I start the computer. During this time I can't run regedit, I can't open the Device Manager, and I can't seem to activate the protection in real time to Microsoft Security databases. However all the time I have internet and network access.
After about 20 minutes the light will come back normal (sometimes it goes through a Red Cross first), date at which the computer then runs everything normally, if I have my phone on, I get the auto run screen, Device Manager works and I can also start MSE.
It's as if the computer is waiting for something to happen. Device problem? However, all devices appear to work normally.
The latest updates, I made were optional for monitor HP and Microsoft mouse and a keyboard, both of which work well in the era of 'blue circle '.
I also tried updating the adapter software.
It is not important, but it's annoying!

    Hi Carmen,.

The blue circle on the network icon indicates that the system is looking for a network connection.

If it appears at the start, then start the modem and the router before you start the computer.

    Method 1:

Using the troubleshooter from network in Windows 7
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/using-the-network-troubleshooter-in-Windows-7

    Method 2:

    Step 1:

Check if the problem persists in safe mode with network.

    Check out the link:

    Startup options (including safe mode)

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/is-is/Windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

    Step 2:

If the issue is not still in safe mode, and then start the clean boot computer to determine if a third-party program is causing the problem. To configure your computer to clean boot see the following link.

  • How is it, Windows Device Manager is not enough smart for...

When I'm tweaking several resolutions screen display, Windows is smart enough to "identify" the monitors for me if I want so I can make sure I manipulate the correct display.

Why isn't smart device manager?  When you run double or more dissimilar monitors that require different drivers and yourself were not smart enough to add one at a time and thus to add drivers for devices individually, shows only Windows you generic PNP monitor with no way to identify which device is the one on the (up, down, left, right, middle, etc.).  That leaves play you then update you the drivers and specify a location for loading driver... touched the right monitor with the right driver, or not?

I surely would appreciate it if someone would add this proc "Identify" to the list right click for monitors in Device Manager.  Save me a lot of crawling behind the nests of computers...

    Hello

    Go to Device Manager.

Right-click on one of the monitors, and choose Properties.

    {Go to the Details tab and begin to scroll through the list until the 'value' shows something that begin with "PCI\VEN"}

The 4 digits after 'FRI' identify the manufacturer of the screen (FRI = VENDOR)

  • Device null under devices hidden in Device Manager

    Hello

I installed Windows 7 Professional on my system which is about 3 years old. He has a mother M2N32-SLI Asus with a processor AMD 6400 +.

The machine works well, but during the installation of Windows 7, the Null device under the devices hidden in Device Manager has an exclamation point. I right-click on it and click on uninstall and it went away but not coming back. I did it about 4 months ago and the machine seems to go well.

My questions are - that must be the Null device? Do I need to reinstall and if yes how can I do?

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

The Null device is an average ticket in the Twilight Zone... thinking that it is a basket or a door to nowhere.  The 'device' is a convenient place to send things you don't want to appear on the screen or anywhere else.  It is not something you need to worry with, that you will probably never use, it is mostly a convenience and test programs and programmers.  A test, you can open a command window and copy a file to the Null device:

    Copy (filename) .txt Null

Copy the files. If they do, the device is present and functional, the Copy command sent a copy to her and these copies disappeared, just as they should.
