Hello, I have the same situation. I did everything above that phoenikxz has done to resolve the situation of the missing disk more certain. The difference with mine is that my drive always light turns on and will behave as if it is trying to read or whatever. The situation with mine, is that she acts like it works, but it does not show as part of the system. As I said I'm still having things that happens with mine as phoenikxz's, but my light to the cd rom works as it should. Any help would be graciously appreciated.

Hello Rockin5b,
Not knowing what exactly you did, well lets give this a try. Have you tried to uninstall your device manager then reboot? If you then, have you tried this quick fix link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060. You need to uninstall all third-party software (example: Roxio, Nero, or iTunes) from your computer before you make the correction. After you restart, you can reinstall your software and try again to see if that solves your problem. Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

Any help will be much appreciated
Hi EMH.
You will need to install the Chipset Drivers first and later network adapter drivers. The IP address that you have ping is the local host and works, even when there is no network card detected.
Please download and install the NIC in the network section and the section Chipset Chipset drivers from the following link, by drilling in the serial number:

CD/DVD drive not detected on the computer... Dell said to reinstall Vista
I have a Vostro 1500 running Vista Basic. My CD/DVD not detected on my computer drive. I looked in Device Manager and there is a yellow alert. When I look at the properties of my drive, there is an error "this device cannot start. (Code 10) ». I ran the PSA and all tests passed. I wasn't able to install an updated driver because the device is not detected on my computer. It is listed in the BIOS.
I called Dell support week last to try to understand the problem. After about 2 hours of doing the things I had already done including the installation of new drivers (drivers installed not because the system does not detect the drive), they decided to send me a new CD drive. I received it this morning and it's another brand than what I had before, but I don't think it's a problem. The new drive I received today does not work either. It has the same problem as the original drive. I contacted Dell support online today and after explaining my situation together again (what is the use for a no of cases when I explain the problem 5 times in any case?) is first sent to a Microsoft for Windows XP KB (I use Vista so it's of no use at all) and then told that my registry is corrupt and I need to reinstall Windows. I don't buy it, but I told the tech that I was willing to humor. So, here am I, there is no information on the Microsoft support site I can find related to this specific error code. There are a lot of XP, but like I said, it's of no use to me using Vista. My patience is wearing very thin with this situation and Dell.
Someone has any suggestions, advice or anything before I chuck the stupid thing out the window? =)

Realtek NIC does not show in the Device Manager - until a hardware scan is done
A few months ago, I purchased a dv6 3240us and not downgraded to XP Pro win7 no problem, everything has been installed - everything I tried worked fine without any problem at all. I do not use this computer on the Internet - but I got the opportunity to connect the NETWORK card to a piece of equipment, I was working on that. When I went to change the IP address of the laptop - no local NIC (supposed to be Realtek) present in the Device Manager. I installed the driver when I went down to XP without error. I can only see the wireless adapter and it also shows on the system tray. When I right click on network adapters in Manager devices and do a scan for the hardware - the Realtek card is? and now everything works fine until I stop, then I have to go the process again. I watched the Realtek driver and he says its all working properly - any suggestions?
Hello:
I'm not familiar with the BIOS settings too consumer laptop, but see if there is a setting for a LAN Power Save Mode - maybe in the configuration menu of the device.
On HP Business laptops, there is such a context, and the default value is enabled. What is this setting is to remove the wired NETWORK card at least that the PC is plugged in and connected to a LAN cable. This saves battery power.
They also have a LAN/WLAN definition switch that disables the NETWORK adapter when the other is in use. For example, if I plug a wire to my Wired NETWORK card, my wireless NETWORK card is automatically disabled.
If you have such a LAN Power Save setting, turn it off, and your NETWORK card must always be visible in Device Manager.

built-in webcam not found in the Device Manager, Samsung r710 laptop, windows 7
I have a laptop Samsung R710, who settled with Windows 7. The laptop came with a built-in webcam. I was not able to get a piece of software to recognize the camera. I did a system restore. Updated the drivers. Visited the Samsung website for updates. When I opened the Device Manager to see the drivers for the webcam, webcam not found in Device Manager.
Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, I must admit to thinking in the same direction you... buy a separate camera or wait until he is more under warranty and have a quick look at the wiring around the hinge.

My CD/DVD drive will not appear in the Device Manager, but present in the BIOS.
DevCon didn't find it. It will not open even if I don't get to Device Manager and check for changes to the system. I deleted the registry entries upper and lower limit. Any other suggestions? For additional emphasis, he does not show even in the Manager of devices so I cannot restore or reinstall the drivers from there. It might also help that I use Vista Home Premium on a Compaq Presario F755us.
Hello
(1) does the BIOS see the main hard disk drive or a secondary hard drive?
(2) remember to make changes to the computer before the show?
You know may not be not that most systems are set to show only the splash screen. If you go into the BIOS Setup, it should show the disks that have been detected on two primary and secondary IDE channels.
Note: the basic procedure to change the setting of the disk controller is to restart your computer and enter the system BIOS. The most common method is to press F2 to enter Setup, (another PC may use a different key). On the BIOS screen, find the setting that offers the AHCI, ATA or IDE and RAID. If the parameter is set to AHCI, change the setting to ATA. Restart the PC on the Windows installation disc
Warning: Incorrect settings in the system BIOS can cause your PC function incorrectly. If you are not familiar with the configuration of the BIOS of the system, you must contact the PC manufacturer for assistance.
Try the steps in the following article and check if it helps.

My DVD RW disappeared. It is not listed in the Device Manager either.
I tried deleting the upper and lower filters. That did not work. He did not allow the reader to turn well. I opened the computer to check the water and that's fine. What can I do? I called the store that installed and they said that the pilots are on VISTA and there was nothing they could do. I don't know what brand of DVD it is. On the invoice they have listed black DVD RW. It has been installed two years ago and has not been used very much. Thanks for the help.

External hard drive not shown in the capitan utility_EI drive
I spoke with the Apple technical support for several times. My problem:
(1) a disk external drive 2 TB of work works well under windows, old Mac (2012); just revealed in the new Mac EL capitan for the first month;
(2) never appeared in DISK UTILITY;
(3) "command + Option + P + R' does not work.
It seems that APPLE has denied this defect in their product. It's completely a waste of money.
I want a refund! Please, I beg you.
Were not apple, and any problems you encounter with a 3rd party device on your hardware Apple will not be covered by restitution by Apple
Read the EULA, go to section O. If you want a refund speak to the manufacture of the drive.
If the drive needed 3rd party utility delete it, no matter what party utility 3rd by the reader to work inside the BONE is not recommended.
