    I did when I went from XP to W7, and I don't want to repeat. Not smart enough to find how to back up my address book on my external hard drive!

    I don't know if this will help, but I used export. Open your address book. In the Tools drop-down menu click Export. I recorded it on my external drive of 'E '. You need to give it a name that you will remember. It is an LDIF file. I checked Wikipedia. The file system has been around since the early 1990s. The LDIF file is independent of Windows. Wiki says it's a text file. I opened it in Notepad. I think that you will have no problem. Worst case you can copy and paste the entries in the respective fields there. LDIF type into a Google search field. The Wiki link is there on top.

  • How did you help file .chm maintain its position of the window when the user resizes the Help window.

    One of my customers complained that the content help scrolls out of view when the window is resized.  Is there a way to anchor the position while the window is resized?

    Ok. I understand what they want now. Unfortunately there is no way to achieve what they want. A consequence of resizing of the window, is that you lose focus on what is selected in the section. This is something that affects all windows, not only the CHM files. Try selecting part of a web page and the resizing of the window. The same happens.

    Two points:

    1. make sure backup you on external media, not inside your hard
    drive. If you put the backup on your hard drive, reinstalling Windows
    will be their undoing. You can use CDs, DVD, thumb drives, or a
    External hard drive.

    2. you can use the Windows backup program to perform the backup, then
    use the same program to restore the backup files. Or you can use a
    third-party backup program; Again, use the same program to restore. If
    you do not have a lot of backup, you can even just copy the files to
    something like a USB drive or burn the CD or DVD, and then copy
    their return.

    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html

    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.

    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.

    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

    Data recovery, if/before you reinstall:

    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
    Download the Vista software from the link above.
    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.
    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
    See you soon.
    I have Nikon D4s and I assumed new Adobe Photoshop CC open camera raw, but I was wrong, did I lose time and money to upgrade
    It opens images of D4. Check what version of camera raw you have. Camera raw 8 was installation on versions of 2015 for a reason, and, I think, you need at least 8.4. If you have 8.4 or above, did you use Nikon software to transfer the images? It has been known to corrupt the files of some cameras so PS can not open them.
  • A WMV file made in 64-bit version of windows may be played/seen in the 32-bit version?
    I did a movie file of windows on the Windows 7 computer and it plays very well.  I used Windows Media Player 11 on a 32-bit Windows XP machine and all I get is a black screen.  I tried to open the file on the 64-bit of Windows Vista computer... and the film plays very well.
    Is this normal?  I want to make a video to send to friends and won't have to deal with them may have a 64-bit operating system?
    WMV in no way depends on operating systems 32 or 64 bits.
    Your symptoms are those of a CODEC that is missing on the system that will not play the video.
    According to Wikipedia, there are two CODECs (video encoders) used in the WMV format... an older WMV7 and newest WMV9.  It is likely that your film has been encoded using WMV9 and your XP 32 bit machine only supports WMV7.
