Dilemma of InDesign book pages

After the reset of a paging to start part 2 (and stupidly ignoring a warning sign that it would lead to the confusion), all discrepancies in this document PG 40 became displaced and separated from each other. In addition, Indesign has placed a number of "transparent objects' (a small square of transparency) throughout the document where they are sitting in front of a left-hand page, in the right-hand page space should be. I cannot remove the 'transparent' object without losing the left page that seems attached. Without being able to get rid of these transparent objects, I'm unable to move pages to realign the. Can anyone help - I have a deadline approaches! ??

(1) to avoid the confusion of numbering, you must change the style of numbering on one of the sections. Preliminary pages is often numbered with lower case Roman numerals.

(2) as stated above, the even-numbered pages are on the left, weird on the right. To restore order to the doc you either change the starting number of the second section to an odd number, add a blank page at the beginning of the section and page 2, or select the "spreads", then disable page dragging on the shortcut menu.

(3) the icon means there is transparency about the spread. If the pages are rewritten to the correct order, it will appear to the right of the spread of all. It is not something that you can get rid of without removing the transparency, which could be an image with transparency, a drop shadow or other effect, or reduced the opacity of an object tha you created.

  • In an inDesign book page numbering

    I build a manual in book form in InDesign.  This is my first time using the book options.

    In any case, I have 11 documents added to the book panel.  Each of these documents have different templates.

    I want to set up the numbering of the pages of the book.  I can do this in the book panel, or what I have to put in place page numbers in each separate document?

    Yes. Just put on all the master pages Current Page number marker - your document will use this marker to put the correct number in place.

  • InDesign BOOK PANEL.

    I use InDesign cc 2015 .  Created a Board book with all the documents, (chapters) in place. However, each chapter remains a separate document and even if I successfully added page numbers, (1-300 consecutively) and run sync, each document retains its original page numbering in the Panel, that is to say, 1-14, 1-23, 1-8, etc..  What I failed to do, or what I did wrong? Studied the use of ID manual, book of Cohen and the class ID in a book without luck. Tap dance on one edge of the knife to a date deadline. Keep things simple.  Thank you. Galdric.

    First make sure that in the indesign preferences > General > paging > display is set to: section numbering

    Then, set option to continue from the previous document in book page numbering.

    Third, book panel flyout menu choose update numbering > update all numbers

  • Problems of pagination for the file InDesign book

    I'm working on an e-book. I need all the chapters first on their own page, then I broke my original document in separate chapters and created an InDesign book file.

    FYI, I work in CS5.5

    I have read/seen information about pagination for a book file and I put in place so that the numbering of the pages 'continues the previous document. But each chapter, I bring you, begins with page 1 in the file book (instead of continue). No matter what I tried, I just can't get the numbering to flow continuously through the book.

    Would not be a big problem, since my e-book will not have the numbers, but when I save this file book as an ePub, which converts a single chapter (depending on which is the source of style) - not the entire book with several chapters.

    Can someone help me understand what goes wrong?

    Hi JackieOXL,

    1. you will remember to do recent changes on the computer before this problem?

    2. This occurs when you try to open attachments in any particular email?

    This can occur if the default program for opening the .htm and .html programs changed instead of your web browser.

    You can try to change the default program to open files and check.

  • InDesign book, synchronization, opening a single file

    Re: IDCC

    Question 1

    One of the .indb files I created has about 20 + individual .indd files. Whenever I have an amendment to a single .indd and then save it, .indb automatically starts a synchronization process and I can't do anything until it is complete.

    I like to leave the file open book when I'm working, but this automatic synchronization impeded my work process.

    Is it possible for me to stop the automatic synchronizaton?

    I looked at different areas of the program, and if the option is present, have neglected and I also looked in the help, and if it's there, I missed it there, too.

    Question 2

    Quite often, when I try to open a single document in a book, ALL the individual documents of open book.

    What steps should I take to make sure I have as a single document in a book and not accidentally open each of them?

    Thank you

    1,

    In the Panel menu book (upper-right of the Panel book) you can choose 'Book Page Numbering Options... '. »

    And disable automatic updates.

    2.

    Make sure that you have only one selected file. Sometimes if you have several files selected and open a file from the book panel will open all selected files.

    Take your time in selecting the document in the Panel - and carefully double-tap.

  • Export documents within an InDesign book in a single PDF file

    I have several documents within an InDesign book. Is there a way that they can be exported in a single PDF file?

    Here is the script I use:

        for (var i = 0; i < data.chapters.length; i++)
           {
                show_list.children[0].selection = i; show_list.show ();

                DocName = data.chapters[i].name;

                app.open (data.chapters[i], false);

                f = new File (data.chapters[i].fullName.replace (/indd$/, "pdf"));

                app.pdfExportPreferences.pageRange = PageRange.allPages;
                app.documents.itemByName(DocName).exportFile(ExportFormat.pdfType, f, false, data.preset);
                app.documents.itemByName(DocName).close(SaveOptions.no);
           }

    The script will export to the PDF format, but each document is a separate PDF file.

    Any HEP would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • create indesign book

    I have ten indd files. I want to create all of the indd files in a separate indesign book (indb). the use of javascript, I want to create.

    It is relatively simple.

    1. create a new address book file and make it available in ID with app.books.add (.)

    2. Add a document using its BookContents property.

    3 Repeat step 2 until you have finished.

    4. save your new book.

    5. There is no point 5.

    This old post- http://forums.adobe.com/thread/289048 - shows the basics. The original poster said his script did not work, but did not get back on the forum (without actually running it), the script seems perfect, so it is safe to assume that his problem was something else.

  • The broken book page - InDesign 5.5 numbering

    I have known some very persistent and reproducible errors with book numbering in InDesign 5.5.

    Any comments or ideas would be very welcome.

    Platform: OS X Lion (clean installation), InDesign CS5.5 7.5.2 no plug-ins on the test environment

    Reproducible condition:

    1. Create a new book, activate the automatic page numbering (continues from the previous section).
    2. Create four new documents, each adds ten pages. Make sure Autodial is on.
    3. Add each of these documents to the book.
    4. Save the book.
    5. Update the numbering of the pages of the book.

    Result:

    • The documents are not page numbers correct display book in the book palette. They show the document, no book, parent of numbering. Each document is displayed (1-10) in the book palette.
    • When you view the documents themselves, the first two as expected from the document page number: (1-10) and (11-20). It is also the result when exporting to PDF format.
    • However documents 3 and 4 of the book take page numbers (11-20) in addition, as if they were every second positioned in the book.

    Tested:

    • I tried the automatic replacement of pages options for the book (start on odd/even) without change of numbering. UPDATE: on a book 20 document there are a few sections that seem to reboot as "pairs", so the number restarts randomly throughout the book. Same document and book options numbering, as described here.
    • I tested with different numbers of documents, different pages.
    • Update the numbering after each attempt, no change.

    Resolve by trashing prefs & cache.

    So, for someone else, stumbling on this thread, on OS X trash (or move to a backup folder, better than practice):

    Your user home dir is $HOME

    $HOME/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign

    $HOME/Library/Caches/com.adobe.InDesign

    $HOME/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign

    $HOME/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.InDesign.plist

    $HOME/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.InDesign.plist.lockfile

    Who cleared it, although I was running without modification known to all prefs, so this remains a black box solution.

  • Selective-numbering of pages in an InDesign book

    Hello
    I have a question which I hope you experienced users can have an easy solution.
    Ive finished my book in the form of indesign documents, chapters, presentations etc. and have created a 'book' in order to compile these in the order and to reset automatically and be sequential page numbers (see image).

    However, two of these documents, I don't want to paging and want the 'Sample_Introduction' to start numbering from 1, however do not know how to disable the numbering of these two documents.
    The two documents are "Sample_FrontPages" (document contains the sheet before, the copyright page, and the title page) and the "Sample_EndPage" (contains a single page left hand).

    Or do I need to compile the book without my non paged numbered documents, given that I'll need to produce a PDF finally this is why I have kept all the relevant documents in a 'book' in the first place.

    Thanks a lot for research
    Luke

    PS.

    Another question, I need to produce a PDF for printing black and white, but my Indesign documents contain different colors throughout.  It will be a problem if my working profile is CMYK?

    Sample_Kalikana_Book.JPG

    It's simple.

    On the chapter you want to:

    Go to the Menu layout / numbering & Section options / the box start Section: check the option Start Page Numbering At: 1

    After that, the other chapters will be be numbering by this chapter.

    Be happy.

  • What is the best format to import to an indesign book files

    I am reproducing a family cookbook and will place small blows to head to their family members or their children next to the recipe.  I intend to scan and import about 150 pages of the ancient book of recipes and use the pages but will place photos, adjacent to the recipe.

    I tried this with indesign cs3 import pages as PDF and ran into memory important problems and have now upgraded to cs6 but would make good sense for the first time.

    So bottom line: if import a large number of scanned documents is it better to analyze as JPEG or PDF files or is there a better way.

    You have Acrobat Pro? If so, I'd run all these pages however scanned OCR and conversion of text before placing them.

    But I wonder what you are doing that you are out of memory because placed images (as opposed to glued or placed and nested) must use only enough space for the pointer on the image and a preview of the screen. What resolution did you use to scan pages? What color mode? Which was exactly the memory problem you experience?

    Regarding the image format, you should see the same size of file that you use tif, jpeg, PDF or psd to your images if all other factors are the same.

  • Book page numbering

    Even if the InDesign preferences is set to "absolute numbering", I can't find a way to get my book to be numbered in the order and many documents in the book have the marker in the section on the first page in the pages Panel and I can't access the box to uncheck the section marker.  And even if I change "auto-numbering of pages" to "page of beginning of 'x' number, the numbers do not change. that is, each separate document in my book panel begins page 1.    What could I do it wrong?

    Jim-Montreal wrote:

    With an absolute numbering instead of the numbering section I expect each document to start at 1.
