Disable ipsec for l2tp vpn connection?
Hello
How can I disable ipsec for l2tp vpn connection? I use a linux vpn that offers only l2tp. I remember doing this with winxp in regedit.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/RasMan/settings] "ProhibitIpSec" = DWORD: 00000001
How is it possible in win7?
Thank you.

Press L2L VPN, IPSEC, and L2TP PIX connections
Hi all
I'm trying to implement a solution on my FW PIX (pix804 - 24.bin) to be able to support a VPN L2L session with VPN dynamic user sessions where clients will use a mix of IPSEC(Nat detection) and L2TP. We have always supported things IPSEC and that worked great for many years. I'm now trying to Add L2TP support, so that I can support Android phones/ipads, etc. as well as Windows with built in VPN l2tp clients clients. Everything works well except for the new features of L2TP. Allows you to complete one phase but then tries to use the card encryption that is used for the VPN L2L. It seems to fail because IP addresses are not in the configured ACL to the crypto-map L2L. Does anyone know if there are any questions all these configurations support both. And if not can you see what I have wrong here, which would make it not work. Here are the relevant training:

I need to create another dynamic map entry to make it work instead of add lines to the same dynamic with a lower (higher) priority map entry?

Hello
That won't do the trick, l2tp clients are picky kindda, so you know if they do not hit the correct strategy first they just stop trying. Follow these steps:
correspondence from the company of dynamic-map crypto-ras 1 address company-dynamic
No crypto-card set pfs dynamic company-ras 1
No crypto dynamic-map company-ras-1 transform-set ESP-SHA-3DES ESP-3DES-MD5 company-ras
Dynamic crypto map company-ras 1 transform-set company-l2tp SHA-ESP-3DES ESP-3DES-MD5 company-ras
The foregoing will not affect existing customers of IPsec at all, these clients will not use the statement of pfs and will link even if the correspondence address is not configured (it is optional), besides Cisco IPsec clients will be affected first the mode of transport policy and fail however they will continue to try and hit another police PH2.
Regarding your last question, I was referring specifically to the support of l2tp for android, and Yes, you will need to run one of these versions.

Hello
As for your question, you can have more than 1 card crypto on the interface.
However, you can use the same card encryption for several strategies. You can change the ma-card to vpnmap.
In this way the two are enabled on the same interface, with one having a higher priority than the other. So if a package came from inside, the first crypto ACL interface is checked and then the next and so on. The first match found is chosen for the IPsec negotioation.

What units supported multiple incoming L2TP VPN connections?
Hello. I have a Mac OS X Server I want to use as a VPN L2TP server for my remote Mac clients. There the Linksys routers that support multiple incoming L2TP connections? (Remote clients are 1 person per one place, so it won't be a problem with several outgoing VPN clients where they are).
Thank you

L2TP VPN connects but won't see network drives
Hi all
I just got a MacBook Pro with El Capitan. I joined it to my area of work and I have implemented SonicWall VPN Client Mobile and I tested it on and it works - only if my network, I am connected to and the VPN will not have the same IP range.
I would like to use the integrated VPN L2TP client, but I have questions here. I have configurted on my Dell SonicWall and connect this VPN from a remote location, it will connect and show the data transfer (sending / reception are green) but I can not access my network drives.
Once I have switch back to Mobile Client VPN SonicWall, everything works well.
Any idea?
Routing on L2TP or PPTP will probably work or at all, if both ends of the VPN tunnel terminate on the same CIDR network block. Which is why people never give a one VPN server address local 192.168.1.0/24. the network block is much too common. Please use something in 10.x.x.x.

cannot make a l2tp vpn connection
I can't make a conection to my vpn server.
Phone says connecting and going to disconnected.
I tried several times but it doesn't work.
My nexus 7 (4.4.2) can connect without problems via wifi and internet that is shared through my xperia.
before shared key and username and password are correct.
Please advice.

We got a SergioPL test account that has helped us to find the cause of this problem. It will be fixed in a future software update.

Any way to book the award of the IP for the VPN connection?
Our VPN benefits from using 1841 AAA and a private beach base 172.16.1.0 255.255.255.248.
We would like to be able to permanently allocate an IP address to our web developer so we can add rules appropriate to the demilitarized zone.
Is it possible to assign an IP address based on MAC instead of randomly? We want him to log on and also to be able to work from any remote location.
Thank you
Paul
There are different approaches you can take. You can configure a separate VPN for this web developer profile and associate it with an IP pool to a single address. You can watch also assign a static IP address to the user using a protocol like RADIUS AAA.

When you say that "the external interface is downwards using failover techniques" you mean this failover occurred because the ASA is no longer able to reach the 31.13.72.1? Not that the actual interface is broken?
If this is the case, then the NATing is your problem. Since you're using the same VPN pool for VPN connections the ASA cannot distinguish between the two streams of traffic if the external interface is still in place. The SLA tracking only removes a route in the routing table, but does not affect what happens in the NAT process.
try to change the NAT statement follows him and the test (don't forget to remove the other statements to exempt of NAT for this traffic during the test):
NAT (inside,any) static static source NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.30.0_25 destination DM_INLINE_NETWORK_1 DM_INLINE_NETWORK_1 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.30.0_25
If this does not work, I would either turn off the external interface when a failover occurs, or create a second connection profile that contains a separate mass of IP for the VPN connection and ask users to connect using this profile when a failover takes place. Don't forget to create Nat exempt instructions for this traffic also.

Microsoft L2TP VPN to ASA 5520
I am trying to configure an L2TP VPN connection on an XP laptop. On the SAA, I use the DefaultRAGroup and the DfltGrpPolicy. I put DefaultRAGroup to use a pre-shared key, and set the authentication of users on ACS_Radius. Our ACS server is associated with AD. Anyone know if I can use ACS to authenticate this user type or do I have to create local accounts on the SAA?
When I try to connect from the laptop, I get error 789. On the ASA, I see this:
Group = DefaultRAGroup, IP = 63.xxx.xxx.xxx, PHASE 1 COMPLETED
Group = DefaultRAGroup, IP = 63.xxx.xxx.xxx, error QM WSF (P2 struct & 0xcddc7d28, mess id 0x46986b08).
Group = DefaultRAGroup, IP = 63.xxx.xxx.xxx, peer of withdrawal of correlator table failed, no match!
Group = DefaultRAGroup, username =, IP = 63.xxx.xxx.xxx, disconnected Session. Session type: IKE, duration: 0 h: 00 m: 00s, xmt bytes: 0, RRs bytes: 0, right: Phase 2 Mismatch
On the one hand, it seems that the laptop is not sending the username and password. I've tried a lot of different combos on the side of microsoft MSCHAP and MSCHAPv2, both of them or all of them individually and matched this setting on the SAA. No matter what, I get the same error. Anyone have any ideas?
Yes... I have never trusted guys for the configuration, I got the following errors:
1 L2TP requires a mode of transport must be of the type of IPSEC traffic used, your config seems to refer to the one, yet it is not defined:
Crypto ipsec transform-set esp-3des esp-md5-hmac TRANS_ESP_3DES_SHA
Crypto ipsec transform-set
Transit mode TRANS_ESP_3DES_SHA<-(needed>-(needed>
2. the present set of transformation is not attached to dynamic cryptography so not used:
Crypto dynamic-map SYSTEM_DEFAULT_CRYPTO_MAP 65535 value transform-set ESP-AES-128-SHA ESP-AES-128-MD5 ESP-AES-192-SHA ESP-AES-192-MD5 ESP-AES-256-SHA ESP-AES-256-MD5 ESP-3DES-SHA MD5-ESP-3DES ESP-DES-SHA ESP-DES-MD5
It should look like:
Crypto dynamic-map SYSTEM_DEFAULT_CRYPTO_MAP 65535 value transform-set ESP-AES-128-SHA ESP-AES-128-MD5 ESP-AES-192-SHA ESP-AES-192-MD5 ESP-AES-256-SHA ESP-AES-256-MD5 ESP-3DES-SHA MD5-ESP-3DES ESP-DES-SHA ESP-DES-MD5 TRANS_ESP_3DES_SHA
Finally, it is just to clear up, make sure that your server ACS_Radius is indeed enabled for authentication MS-CHAPv2 of ASA and the l2tp client, otherwise it will fail always.

Support for L2TP/IpSec VPN on 1921
Hello
I am not able to find an answer on something very simple... Fact of 1921 Cisco router supports L2TP/IpSec VPN connections? (from Windows 7 clients)
If she could please point me to the right location/document where I can read more about it.
I already tried with the configuration below, but command ppp under a virtual-Template1 don't output interface.
Thank you very much for your answers.
Kind regards
Herman

Coming out of the IPSec VPN connection behind Pix535 problem: narrowed down for NAT-Associates
Hello world
Previously, I've seen a similar thread and posted my troubles with the outbound VPN connections inside that thread:
https://supportforums.Cisco.com/message/3688980#3688980
I had the great help but unfortunatedly my problem is a little different and connection problem. Here, I summarize once again our configurations:
hostname pix535 8.0 (4)
all PC here use IP private such as 10.1.0.0/16 by dynamic NAT, we cannot initiate an OUTBOUND IPSec VPN (for example QuickVPN) at our offices, but the reverse (inbound) is very well (we have IPsec working long server /PP2P). I did a few tests of new yesterday which showed that if the PC a static NAT (mapped to a real public IP), outgoing connection VPN is fine; If the same PC has no static NAT (he hides behind the dynamic NAT firewall), outgoing VPN is a no-go (same IP to the same PC), so roughly, I have narrowed down our connection problem VPN is related to NAT, here are a few commands for NAT of our PIX:

Results of packet capture are listed here for the same PC for the same traffic to Server VPN brach, the main difference is UDP 4500 (PC with static NAT has good traffic UDP 4500, does not have the same PC with dynamic NAT):

70 packages shownWe had this problem of connection VPN IPsec from the years (I first thought it is restriction access problem, but it does not work or if I disable all access lists, experience of yesterday for the same restriction of the access-list shows longer than PC is not the cause). All suggestions and tips are greatly appreciated.

VPN connects for 15-20 seconds then steadily declining.
I have an XP laptop and an update of XP for desktop Windows 7. The XP laptop I can configure a PPTP vpn to my workplace connection, and the connection is stable and reliable.
Now on my family windows7 premium 32 bit system, I can create a PPTP vpn, no problem, it connects and logs and I can ping the server and the server shows me on one of the ports. But 15 to 20 seconds later I am began the connection. The waiter told my connection on the client side. So I plug it back and I get exactly the same thing over and over again. But when I try with XP laptop I don't have these problems.
Since XP works and 7 does not work, I have excluded the server and my firewall device as potential problems since these are constants. The only variable is the computer of windows 7. So I tried on a second windows 7, I have at home, my wife newly improved system and I got the same results, 15-20 seconds of connection time and then disconnected.
Looking for some ideas here, I can't work remotely right now because of this problem.
None of this helps, here's what the solution is for other people using DLink routers (personally, I have the DGL-4500).
For some reason any in windows 7 the router will drop the VPN every 20 seconds. I first thought that maybe it's because the lesser known port IP 47 which most people forget. So I created a rule IP 47 under Advanced, virtual server port. I put in 'other' Protocol and typed in the 47 and makes on my local machine.
The other thing I did was in the settings of the firewall, i unchecked down where it says PPTS and IPSec for the checkboxes are now disabled. You expect that who they are by default under audit would be the way to go but apparently not.
At least with those two changes, I can now PPTP vpn with windows 7 without letting down.

1.1.1.1 = address remote chromebook NAT
2.2.2.2 = ASA 5510 acting as distance termintaion access point
3.3.3.3 = Chromebook private address
I noticed that the Chromebook is appearing as the ID of the remote proxy but later, he seeks the applied to the Chromebook NAT address. Not sure if this is the cause or how to solve this problem, if it is.
Can someone advise please
Thank you
Ryan
7.2 is old code. You can re - test with 9.0.x or 9.1.x.

Traffic permitted only one-way for VPN-connected computers
Hello
I currently have an ASA 5505. I put up as a remote SSL VPN access. My computers can connect to the VPN very well. They just cannot access the internal network (192.168.250.0). They cannot ping the inside interface of the ASA, nor any of the machines. It seems that all traffic is blocked for them. The strange thing is that when someone is connected to the VPN, I can ping this ASA VPN connection machine and other machines inside the LAN. It seems that the traffic allows only one way. I messed up with ACL with nothing doesn't. Any suggestions please?

Hello
No worries
As we change the config I would do as well as possible.
First, it is strongly recommended to use a different range of IP addresses for VPN clients and the internal network
No VPN_Pool 192.168.250.100 - 192.168.250.101 255.255.255.0 ip local pool mask
mask 192.168.251.100 - 192.168.251.101 255.255.255.0 IP local pool VPN_Pool
NAT_0 ip 192.168.250.0 access list allow 255.255.255.0 192.168.251.0 255.255.255.0
NAT (inside) 0-list of access NAT_0
Then give it a try and it work note this post hehe
