  Of your most recent post, looks like you're watching the wrong part of the Device Manager. Optical drive is listed under "readers of CD-ROM/DVD-ROM". The info you gave appear under "drives". If the drive is not listed under "readers of CD-ROM/DVD-ROM" or there is no such section in Device Manager, then Windows do not see. If windows can't see it then this means that there is no power or that the drive is broken.

  When you pushed the drive back in, the player no longer has much of the book or did you have to push all the way. If the latter, it means that the drive has no power or is broken.

  With respect to the opening of the case, I guess I should ask first if it's a laptop or desktop?

  I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 - 1 MM and I have a problem with the optical drive (Mat * un DVD Ram Uj880as):

  DVD - RAM plateau sometimes refuse to open. The LED lights up briefly, but still nothing. Windows recognize the drive but the plateau of refuses to open. Eject commands the position of work and management of the computer-> disk management will not work. I can open the tray manually but the optical drive will not read any cd/dvd. No error code in return.

  When that happens it cause peaks of high utilization of the processor (from 60 to 100%) in the System Idle Process. Just stop and restart it solve. After that, the laptop also runs fine and the optical drive.

  I have the same machine with Win7 32 bit and use several players. Everything works perfectly. On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem.   Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

  I solved the problem myself.

  There are 4 feet at the bottom of the tray 3 optional. The 2 to the front of the unit have screws. I removed the screws and waved the units of feet that double as guides of drawer slide. Once both have been removed, the sliding drawer.

  The problem was spring loaded pressure feeder had been stuck in a State more compressed inside the drawer box. The guides of slide based feet have a trigger output on them which frees pressure loaded spring trough when the drawer is pushed into the tray of the firm. The spring loaded drawer charger never push completely compressed while the inside of the cabinet drawer, and outside the cash drawer. If the spring supply pressure responsible is locked in it more compressed position inside the cabinet drawer it cannot slide past the release trigger wihtout withdrawal based foot feet.

  Looks like you did a system rather than a system restore recovery.  If you have inserted a disc supplied with your machine and booted from it, you probably erased the disc and installed the original operating system provided with your computer.  Usually, a step in this recovery is to do a full format or quick of your drive.  If you did a full format, your data is permanently lost.  With a quick format, your data may still be there, somewhere but inaccessible by normal means.  Applications must generally be installed, in order to recover the files probably will not help unless you have the original installation media.  Your other data files (images, videos, financial data) may be salvageable, but at this point, it would be advisable to take your computer or your disk to a business/professional who is experienced with data disc recovery.  It will be cheap and there is no guarantee.

  Impatient, remember investigate you a backup strategy for your computer and critical data.  Hard drives can go wrong with little or no warning.

I have about 20 books purchased with my Apple ID OLD.  When I try to connect my OLD Apple ID, I get a message to Apple that it no longer exists.  That's why I'm in a "Catch 22": I can't open any OLD books in iBooks, because he needs to check my OLD Apple ID, but now, there is no and I can't do another Apple with the same name ID, since I already have one, and I can't delete my current Apple ID because that would really open up a "Pandora's box".  Help!  IS THERE A WAY TO WORK AROUND THIS STUPID PROBLEM!
