Refresh removes applications that was not installed on W8 in the first place, which means at least apps that came with the W8.
You have to manually reinstall programs including the update removed.

  • HP Envy h8 - 1400z: lack the 2nd hard drive after windows update

Discount Windows 8 for us solve a problem.  Before the update, I had two drives of 1 TB.  The first hard drive was for the OS C: and D: for the recovery partition.  The second disc has a partition called E: and has been used for data.

After the update, I still have my partitions C: and D: as before on my first hard drive.   However, no D:.  Using disk management, the first hard disk is visible and it has C: and D:, as well as a few other partitions I do not recognize but appear to be associated with the update. Disk management does not show the second hard drive.

Starting in UEFI shows the 2nd disc and it is recognized as a 1 TB drive and I have no reason to believe that the drive has failed.

Did some research and see that others have lost a partition during the refresh, but the road is still visible in disk management.   Their problem is resolved by assigning a drive letter.  However, this does not work for me because the operating system does not see the drive.

Is it possible that refresh changed my disks in raid 1?  How I check that?  Other thoughts on how I can get my drive back?

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi there @AVperson

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that after a cooling a HDD is no longer appears in disk management. I'm happy to help you.

Since it does not appear in the BIOS but not in the operating system, let me start with a few BIOS tests on two hard drives. In fact, I suggest doing all the tests of material.

I see no reason for a system spontaneously create a RAID where there were none before. If the system was a RAID on the second drive would be a mirror of the first, and it must always appear in disk management.

After testing the system, you can always try remove the second disc and test it using a disk external drive bay on another device and see if it is readable.

Let me know what you find.

  • Transfer enhanced copies of Windows 7 or 8

About 4 years ago, I bought a laptop with Windows Vista installed.

Due to the timing of the purchase gave me a disc of Windows 7 upgrade discount, I've used and replaced Vista with.

I recently bought a discounted Windows 8 Microsoft, which has been downloaded on a USB key. I used this to have a dual-boot Windows 7 and Windows 8 on my laptop. I have always the installation of Windows 8 on a memory stick files and activation key.

If I buy a new laptop now, could I buy without an operating system and use or for both the disc of Windows 7 or Windows 8 USB key to install windows on my new computer laptop?

I realize that I can not use the same product on 2 computers at the same time and would be happy to uninstall on my laptop today.

Essentially, the improvements that I bought can be used to install Windows on a new computer?

    Thanks in advance!

The Windows 7 Upgrade provided as part of your purchase of Vista can be transferred to a new computer, because it is an OEM license provided by the OEM.

To install a Windows 8 upgrade version, you must already have Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP installed on your PC.

If you have formatted the drive until the upgrade of Windows 8 version has been installed, you will not be able to use your upgrade product key to activate Windows 8. To activate Windows 8, you will need to install your previous version of Windows, and then reinstall Windows 8. Help with the activation process, contact technical support.

  • Static and sounds by clicking on p209tx

It's a week since I got this machine and I started experencing static sound in my headphones and external speakers, sometimes the problem is resolved automatically by itself and after restarting your PC, it comes back.

I've tried disableing beats, but nothing happened.

Another thing is valume has a mind of its own, it changes automatically, I mean, you would get a noise at level 20, but sometimes it isn't still audible.

    Well

Discount windows 8.1 did not really solve the problem (cause of all my settings have been restored). So I did a reset of the system too, it does not solve the problem, but it helped me to analyze what who and where was the problem!

So, this is what happened: -.

I did a reset of the system and noted the the sound was nice (really nice).

So I'll start all my software displays while listening to music and he had no problem with the sound until now, until the

I have installed these 2 software

    (1) Virtualbox

    (2) the browser Maxthon cloud.

(I need virtualbox I experiment with many different operating systems). I think that the problem was caused, as a sound card is shared by more than 1 os when you use virtualization (I used to run 4 operating systems in parallel, so a sound card is shared by 4 os).

and the second thing I have that whenever I opened Maxthon browser of cloud, the sound starts clicking and poping up.

If the problem was definitely with the browser.

so in fact when we talk about "it's a random problem", it was when I was watching at the same time all while listening to music.

So thanks for trying to help me. Finally I could enjoy an audio sound quality real time.

Now, I think it sounds really good

  • Aspire V13 V3 - 372T can I redo initial set upward?

    Hello

I recently bought Acer Aspire V13 V3 - 372T with 10 Windows installed, but my brother has opened in front of me, crossed the initial installation and installed a few things for me (nobody said he should or is allowed to do, on the contrary) and now I don't know what he has selected in the implementation. Of course, he remembers nothing.

Is there a way I can redo the installation without uninstalling Windows 10? I don't care if what he installed gets uninstalled in the process.

    Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm just "passing" in a manner of speaking, and it really depends on the extent of your problem.  As there is no way to make the configuration that I know, there are a few options that allows you to undo the changes he made.     If it has installed software shaded an unknown source or something like that, then I would recommend a refresh or a reboot of the system, because it may contain a virus.  Both include reinstalling Windows, but they are relatively easy and should only take a 1-3 hours after my experience, especially because you have a fast computer (I own one).  An update is easier and probably easier to apply in your case, because it uninstalls all programs and resets all settings (don't quote me on that one).  But if it comes from certain programs installed and changed a few settings, then you can simply create a new account and delete the old.  Which allows to uninstall all applications in store Windows and you can choose your settings again.

Directionsfor create a new account to crush the former: right click the button start - Control Panel - user accounts - user accounts - manage another account - you will be invited to authorize, hit Yes - add account - Local account or Microsoft Account make your choice (I could write a whole article about it, but for now, I advise to use a local account for the moment (you can change it later) - click on the account you just created account type) and the value to the administrator.  Delete the old, then tap on delete account. Once you have done all the settings will return to its original state, all user installed (non-conventional programs like Google Chrome) applications are uninstalled.  If you need a list of all the programs installed on the computer just ask.  But I could have bought my computer somewhere else it can be different.

Directions for resetting Windows (latest version with update of the anniversary (it is probably not very different in old windows 10 is)): reinstalls the operating system and replace the hard drive.  Start - Settings - updates and security - recovery - restart now, then you should see an option with reset wrote under the title.  Follow it until you see a screen that has a button to recycle your PC.  If you do not just take a picture of it and send it to me.

Directionsfor discount Windows: even just instead of hitting recycle, hit keep my files (or something of the sort)

Any quesitions or comments, do not hesitate to let me know.

  • Disk system hard disk error

Recently, I replaced my hardrive HP Desktop (which I bought recently at HP) and it is correctly placed and acknowledged as I could use the recovery CD to check the hard disk for errors. I had Windows Visa Home Premium on the old hard drive and try to replace it with Windows 7 (32 bit). Compatibility testing showed that I could upgrade the operating system. However, when I put in a new operating system I bought from a seller that sells at a discount (Windows 7 Professional 32 bit Branded); the computer will not recognize the DVD. I am booting from the optical drive, it appears as a blinking black screen monitor cursor. So my question is if there is a problem with the DVD as a bad DVD or is it a problem of compatibility. Should I just ordered HP recovery CD or isn't necessary when installing a new operating system?

The second question is how to open files (on an external drive) that I had copied that are now appearing as backup.1 and backup.2.fbw? Can I just not open on another computer by looking at the files and see which ones I want to restore?

    Advice is appreciated.

I'll try this and let you know how it goes. I appreciate the help.

  • Purchase desktop with Vista above... is there a "free" or discounted for Windows upgrade?

About 6 years ago I bought a new edition special desktop HP Pavilion at Future Shop.  Now I don't get updates, or the software corrects more.   Windows 10 is free for new versions...  Is there a discounted '10' for Vista and earlier versions of windows?   If I have to pay full price, this will be the 5th time that I pay for a new version of windows.  Please let know us if there is a download available.

    Hello

Depends on hardware configuration required on later operating systems, and also find out if the manufacturer of the laptop computer is supported and provides drivers for operating systems later as to whether it is possible or feasible to upgrade or not.

There is no free upgrade or discounted Vista to 7, 8.1, or 10.

Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7.

Microsoft sells more than 7; Try Amazon.com.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.
