  You can fix this problem by right-clicking on the start menu button then click on temptation then go to Start Menu tab at the top, then in the privacy section, check the two checkboxes, then click apply and then click ok.

  I solved my problem. It seems that Windows 7 creates additonal 100 MB partition with the system partition. When I reinstall Windows 7 I formatted the C drive but not the extra partition and perhaps this conflict has caused. I installed the system again but I have two of these drives formatted and it works normally again. Thanks anyway.

  1 I need to ask you to clarify this point.  I guess you look at the files using Windows explore via the road C:\Users\YourUserName\Desktop etc. not through libraries like that maybe confused.

  2 you say that shortcuts to programs are now "excel.lnk" but have been "excel" just before?  Or even 'excel.ink', which is what you typed.

  I try to use the Microsoft Office tool that implement an MSI for 64-bit Office 2010 installation file.  The tool works file and creates the msi file.  I get to the tool by going to the x 64-bit folder on the office 2010 installation disc.

  I install a new virtual machine from Windows 7 and tried to use the MSI file to install office 2010 and I get the error:

  If I just click Setup on the office 2010 dvd he moved very well on the same VM window7.
