Disk replacement hard m6 envy

Looks like I need to replace the hard drive on Envy 6. Warranty expired 6 days ago! I can't leave with Best Buy for 2-4 weeks so I want to try replacement myself. Where can I buy the correct hard drive and can I do it myself? Then load a new operating system? What I have to do new Windows 8 (don't like it)? I have all my files stored on Carbonite. Thank you!

Thank you very much.

I had the honor of serving.

Yes, you can install W7 on your laptop.

If you have a full W7 64 bit program and product license key, you can do the following to install W7...

First of all, you need to change a BIOS setting (and you'll need to do in order to boot from the recovery W8 disks too).

See this link below...

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03736054

Then for the W7 x 64 drivers you must:

First, install the amd chipset driver and restart. The first file listed in the page.

http://support.AMD.com/en-us/download/chipset?OS=Windows 7-64

Then all the W7 x 64 drivers and software of this model will work also on yours.

DO NOT USE ALL DOWNLOADS OF BIOS OR FIRMWARE FROM THIS LINK

The new drive HARD would not be partitioned and contain all the data!
After replacing HARD drive, you must use the recovery disk in order to install the system, the drivers, tools and for the partitioned HARD drive.

Did you create a recovery disk in the past?

  • Disk replacement HARD satellite 1800-400,

Prices differ as much here, so I think to replace my broken HD Toshiba (I believe that is / was 20 GB) with a new HD. Can I use one of the new 5400 RPM type disks, or if I hold with 4200 RPM normal ones?

If I do, should I first replace the old BIOS?

Maybe you need to consider the noiselevel to a 5400 RPM hard drive?

  • Disk replacement HARD & BIOS question - Satellite A60

    Hi guys

I have a Satellite A60-672 and his original 40 GB drive is dead. I got a Seagate 80 GB HDD as a replacement, but after it is inserted, it does not show in the BIOS. I did some searching on Google but not really came up with a large part. Is it possible that the BIOS does not recognize the new drive due to the larger size?

I looked in the BIOS upgrade (currently version 1.50) and found an update to 1.90. After reading the upgrade of BIOS FAQ (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/faq.jsp?z=234&service=EU&from=faq_selection&CFID=B IOS & FID = TRO0000000b07) I have saw apparently need a floppy drive that laptop did not. Can I use a CD - R in the place or what I need to get a USB floppy drive now?

    Thanks for any help.

    > Is it possible that the BIOS does not recognize the new HARD drive because of the larger drive?

Yes, it is quite possible and especially a reason why the large capacity HARD disk cannot be used.

It seems that the update of the BIOS on the Satellite A60 can be done only with the USB FDD.
But why you want to update the BIOS?
I don t think that the update will change something
It seems that the 80 GB are not possible.

  • Disk replacement hard invalid backup?

    Hello

I have a Sony notebook with Vista Home, which I've upgraded to Vista Ultima. Now, I would use a bigger drive C on my Sony laptop. Is there a check that makes this impossible?

I used full PC Backup in Vista to make a backup and restore on the new largest disk. That looked good, but then I noticed I can't read my Windows Mail, or see my second hard drive and several other problems. An OEM Vista Home version is somewhat limited on the disc, on which it is installed, not the PC/laptop it works?

    Thank you

  • Disk replacement hard satellite M20

I had a problem with my satellite M20 Ref PSM20Q-00PZ6

The original HD (Toshiba MK4025GAS) is totally dead.

I bought a new one (toshiba MK6025GAS), the same 60G instead of 40.

I had never recognized by the bios, unless I have set it up on another laptop to change its size to 8.4 G.

How can I configure it to be recognized as a 60G?

    Hello

It seems that the BIOS cannot recognize the disk properly due to the size of the HARD drive. Unfortunately, I put t found any details on the size of HDD supported, but in my opinion the 60 GB of HDD is not supported if the BIOS recognizes the HARD drive correctly.

  • HP ENVY 14 2020NR: need a recommendation for a replacement hard drive

    Greetings,

I have an a HP ENVY 14 2020NR with a hard drive died. Blue several screens before the new year, did a complete system restore, which seemed to have fixed things. Unfortunately, after 10 days the blue screens are back. The unit is several years old, and my next step is to replace the hard drive. I have all the data backed up elsewhere and ready DVD restore disc.

Here are the specs of the drive:

    Hitachi disc HARD 7 K 750-750. P/N H2T7501672S.

I am trying to identify the right replacement hard drive. Looks like it was 750 GB at 7200 RPM. Some choice out there. Can anyone recommend the correct replacement hard drive?

    Thanks in advance!

    DaniBoy

Based on the laptop HP ENVY 14 - Maintenance Service Guide, it seems that your computer supports the following readers and more.

6.35 cm (2.5 in) hard drives (HD) and the SSDS (SSD), 9.5 mm (. 37-in) and thicknesses of 7.0 mm (. 28 - in)
    Customer-accessible
    Serial ATA
Supports the following hard disk configurations:
    ● 750 GB (7200 RPM)
    ● 640 GB (7200 RPM)
    ● 500 GB (7200 RPM)
    ● 320 GB (7200 RPM)

Supports the following simple SSD drive configurations:
    ● 128 GB mSATA,
    ● 80 GB, mSATA
    ● 160 GB, SATA

According to the above information, any hard disk 2.5 "SATA or SSD of 9.5 mm and 7.0 mm profile should work fine. This includes the newer readers who are more capacious.

Please see Newegg - internal laptop hard drivesfor a few recommendations of HDD and Newegg - internal SSD for a certain number of decent SSD.

    Hello

You can run a test on your hard drive to make sure if its in a State of operation or do not use the link below

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00439024

If the above test fails, you will need to replace the hard drive. You can buy the hard drive by going to the HP service center or any place where you want. To reinstall the operating system, you will need to buy the recovery disk set by calling HP techinical support.

  • Error - 10008 # replace hard disk 1

I'm sure that my hard drive has become bad, other messages that I read.

I don't have any data out of this device.  In fact, I was about to start deleting old data so I could give this device to a family in need.  Went to start the computer to start this process.  However, when I went to do this, he went to BSOD.  Messed with it a bit, then I got BSOD.  I have fillany calculate to run the test and got the 10008 # replace 1 hard disk error.

As always, I want to give to this family that laptop, my question is: where I could buy a cheap replacement hard drive.  Is it difficult to do? And I don't think I have a back up / but on the operating system installation disk.  I have to do to get us to open and it would be affordable.

I'm totally willing to put in the work to get to the top and go, but was woundering if anyone would be willing to give me some instructions on how to do it.

Thank you 1 million for all advice and assistance.

    Hello

Regarding the reinstallation of the operating system on the new drive HARD, here are two options.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the Disk Image correct ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings) to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Windows Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

You may need, additional drivers and software are here.

    Best regards

  • Pavilion a1230n w XP: Replace hard disk & recovery disks don't work

Replace hard disk & recovery disks do not work. Create the new partition & Microsft Recovery Console ONLY the options available on the disk recovery TOOLS. Recovery of Microsoft stops at the page "Preparing the system to install Windows XP".  Pressing enter at this stage of the results in "cannot find EULA" message & turns off the computer... already old version of XP (media center) via another set of discs, but want software HP original back!

  • HP dv6500 - replace hard disk?

I have HP dv6500 for over 2 years now and I am outside the warranty period.

    -VISTA Home basic

Recently, ny computer started freezing after every 15-20 minutes and it was not usable, I had to reboot always out...

I ran the BIOS disk HARD diagnose - it says "Replace hard drive".

I called HP support - but they were not willing to help with hardware issues, without any mandate that costs ~ $ 350 +.

That's why I thought to replace the HARD drive with a new one.

    Old SATA HDD: WD160GB

New SATA HARD drive: Seagate 250 GB

After replacing the HARD drive, I tried to restore the system using original HP recovery disks. It runs through the process of recovery - restart the computer several times - finally throws an error:

"Unable to start Windows. Recent hardware or software change might be the cause. »

"file:/Windows/system32/Boot/winload.exe status: 0xc000000f" info: the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or currept

I would appreciate any help/advice/pointers for this problem...

    Thank you

    Guy - FYI

    The problem is resolved.

It was a prob with the std HP recovery disk such that it comes with the default display driver. But my laptop had NVIDIA GeForce 8400 M GS and the drivers where missing in the original disc. I ordered the HP disk drivers. After that the installation was smooth though it took almost seven hours for a recovery complete.

I agree with Akuma. You can try using the drive HARD IDE 2.5 up to 100-120 GB.
    I think that by using a 100 GB shouldn't t be a problem
