Disk SATA 6 identified as SCSI

I have Intel SATA6 controllers both Marvell Sata6 correctly identified as AHCI in the BIOS.  The two discs on the Intel controller are correctly identified in Windows 7 like SATA6, while the player connected to the Marvell controller is called SCSI.

On the Intel controller, I have an Intel SSD and a WD Caviar Black drive.  I have a WD drive identical on the Marvell controller.
The Marvell controller has been updated to the latest version of the driver.   Is there a place in the record where I could change the value of SCSI?  Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help!

As far as I know, it is normal for the Marvell controllers with Marvell drivers.

If you use the drivers provided with Windows 7 Microsoft, it will indicate not SCSI.

I have several systems which indicate the same way.

Original title: SCSI instead of SATA

I built a PC with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.  My C: drive is a Samsung 840 Pro SSD.  The system never worked properly and I discovered that the SSD which is a SATA 3 drive in Device Manager is configured as a SCSI disk.  Someone knows how to change the driver assigned to the SSD for a SATA instead of the SCSI driver?

    Hello Uriel,

    Thank you for your response.

SATA controllers will normally appear as "SCSI" controllers in windows. It's normal and nothing to worry about. Often the SATA controllers will also be able to run in IDE mode and then they present themselves as IDE controllers, but it is unlikely that they will be able to operate optimally, as the IDE interface is missing some features of SATA. So even if you do not have the ability to set the cache in the Device Manager, a SATA controller is running in mode SATA should work just fine.

The IDE bus is managed by the controller SATA3, and if this control is set in the BIOS to "IDE" somehow it seems related to the operating system as a SCSI device.  By setting this entry in the BIOS to "RAID/IDE" IDE devices get properly detected.

This can also occur if you change the BIOS settings for the SATA ports of 'IDE' to 'AHCI' after installing Windows 7.

    I hope this information helps.

  • I can't install the second disk sata hard

I have a problem when install the second disk sata hard
I bought a new one 500 GB and I installed windows xp sp3
and it works well I plugged in SATA 0 port
When I want to install a second sata hard disk 320 on sata 1
and it has an important data, windows will reboot, and do
    blue screen sometimes 'NTFS.sys"or"SCSIPORT.sys.
    and it is written "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".
If someone help me what should I do or there is no FIX for this problem.

in the BIOS I have regcognized both hard drivers:
    IDE pri master 500 GB
    PRI IDE slave 320
    Second master IDE-
    Second slave IDE-
    PORT SATA - 0
    SATA 1 - PORT

    I plugged the IDE 2 cd-rom

    ----------
    Specification of the device:
    Windows xp sp3
    card mother gigabyte 848P
    Intel ICH5
    Intel 8I848p775-g
    Celeron D Socket 775

You said that the hard drives are sata but your bios recognizes them as IDE depending on your position. You might have to set your bios to operate in sata mode or enable AHCI of have recognized them as sata. Regarding the error you get, look in the system BIOS to boot from hard disk command menu. This is different from the command menu of usual starting where you choose each time you start a cd ROM or hard drive ect... The parameter that I refer to determine which hard drive of your computer starts on the first. Change to the primary master 500 GB disk > save your settings and restart your computer. Even if one is defined as main and the other slave is not serious. Some bios have the ability to choose what hard drive to boot from. In other words, it is adjustable to start first on the slave drive.

  • Installation of 4 disks SATA on Dimension 8400

I currently have 2 SATA drives on my Dimension 8400 and I would install 2 additional drives.  Looks like I have 4 SATA connectors on my motherboard and BIOS support SATA 0,1,2,3, but seems to have some power for only 2 disks SATA connectors.

Is there an easy way to add some additional power connectors so that I can add more than two disks?  In addition, it seems that I have to remove my floppy drive to make room... is that correct?

    Hello

Did you install the RAID driver?
Well, I put t know if it because of this problem, but as much as I know the Toshiba RAID driver must be added during the installation, when prompt to 'press F6 if you need to install a third-party RAID or SCSI driver.

To do this, please download the Toshiba RAID driver from the web page of Toshiba driver download and extract the zip to a disk file. Connect the floppy drive to your computer before starting the installation.

The Setup program continues until you are asked if you want to "S = specify additional device. Press' and specify the driver Toshiba Raid for XP or 2000 as required.
Press 'Enter' to continue the installation.

When you use Windows Setup to partition or format the HARD drive, the RAID driver is deleted in the process.

Please tell me if you have resolved the problem.

  • Envy 17: Controller driver of storage for disk SATA 4 to

    Hello

I can't the initialization of a new 4 TB SATA (Seagate Barracuda 3.5 ") drive. I connect to my HP Envy 17 (Windows 7 64-bit) via a USB 3.0 drive hard dock for purposes of backup only. Initialized using GPT, but nevertheless he refuses to show the true volume of the new HARD drive and the system keeps recognizing him as a GB 1677,9 disk.

I read a little about this issue online and guess that only the volume above 2.2 to is detected but that he couldn't find a solution anywhere and Seagate does not offer one or the other. Have tried to update the driver for this disk (Microsoft driver version 6.1.7600.16385; driver date 21/06/2006) but the system tells me that this driver is up to date.

Thanks for all your tips and advice!

    Hello

Check with the manufacturer of the external USB docking station and ensure that it takes care of 4 TB hard drives.

Otherwise, open the window RUN (Admin) and try the following:

    DiskPart

    list disk

Select disk x---> x is equal to the target disk

    clean

    output

Now, unplug the USB and plug it in again.  You should get a prompt to format and initialize the GPT to choose HD and assign a drive letter and label.

  • the upgrade of the disk sata hard to new ssd sata 3 disc 1

I have Hp m9510 running windows 7 64 bit home edition.  The motherboard is ASUS IPIBL-LB (Benicia), my drive sata hard existing 1 running in raid mode.  I want to add a new SATA of SDS 3 as a new startup disc and leave the player sata 1 existing as a backup.  Insofar as the motherboard is built for sata 1, if I install a sata pci card 3 I will then be able to obtain the transfer of higher data rates of the new ssd without causing other problems?

If your current configuration has a single disc, then your default would be AHCI.

RAID stands for redundant array or inexpensive disks and requires two or more physical hard disks for the implementation.

In this case the preferred configuration would also be AHCI. It's a SATA mode. (Advanced host configuration interface) His replacement is IDE (emulation) mode

Whether it's there or not go back to Device Manager - right click on the hard drive (D :) and UNINSTALL it.
The reader should be located and re-installed when you restart after checking the GHOST.

If the GHOST is still there, see if you can DELETE it now.

  • Disk SATA of OptiPlex 9020 m and m2

All data sheets I can find for the Optiplex USFF 9020 indicate that it can withstand a SATA m2. Which non of them tell me what edge connector and the length should be, and whether or not an impasse is required for the end.  I contacted the technical support, who sent me to the line of factory parts, but seemed to understand what I was looking for.  They kept directing me to parties for the addition of a 2.5 "SSD, not a SATA m2 card.  Also, the manual download users was a link from the U.S. site dead for weeks.  Can anyone help?

Based on the research to the motherboard, I think I can use a 42mm card with a 'B' or 'B & M' edge connector.  But, again, nothing to confirm.

    Thank you.

    -Tim Reid

    Hi Tim,.

    Thanks for your question.

    I found some references that we've sold with the 9020 M m2.

    Dell support for reference numbers:

    331T 3 128 GB SSDR 3.65 MM, S3, SMSNG, PM851

    5612H SSDR, 256GB - SATA3, 2280, L9G Liteon

    PF19K 128GB SSDR 3.65 MM, S3, Toshiba, HG6

I analyzed the part number for Dell PF19K, to form M2280 - Toshiba THNSNJ128G8NU from Toshiba HG6 part number factor, 3.65 mm. This is a real picture of it:

    Specs of Toshiba:

    http://Toshiba.SEMICON-storage.com/us/product/storage-products/client-SSD.html

    I found a pic of a similar m2 installed in a 9020M:

Also, I tried the link to the owner's manual download and it works well on my side:

  • XPS8500 mSATA iii, HARD drive disk SATA port?

I have a XPS8500 Office with 2 SATA iii HARD drive currently as the only player to. I bought a 1 to Samsun Evo 850 to replace the HARD drive (the HARD drive has only about 600 GB used, so it should migrate completely without problem). Ports SATA 4 deep 1 SATA ii and SATA 0 and mSATA ports are the only SATA iii ports, I would move the existing 2 TB HDD in a location empty in the cage with the SSD drive in the location of the SATA 0 port. Ideally I would drive the HARD drive using the port mSATA to keep capacity SATA iii. Is there an adapter that will allow you to it? In other words: an adapter to change the architecture of the port mSATA connector to allow a normal SATA cable connect the port for a SATA drive.

There are adapters to convert a port mSATA on the motherboard in a standard SATA 3 port to a HARD drive. If you google around you can find them, for example this one.

Remember that I do not specifically recommend (or not) this map or this provider. So shop around to find what fits your needs and your budget.

Also, I have no idea how that these adapters are working (or not).

Thanks a lot for any advice.

    Hello

Your computer is fairly new, you should be ok, installation of a 1 TB drive.  Older computers may have problems of card motherboard/bios with bigger hard drives.  You can also install a SATA2 drive, but if your motherboard doesn't support SATA drive will just default to this speed (SATA2 is backward compatible).  The player below is to consider.
