Hello, this my first question after.

before all sorry for my English.

I have trouble with r710 perc6i raid 5. 1 hard drive 3 sas can't (it is installed 7CV6H: hard drive, Module, 300G, SAS6, 15 K, 3.5, Seagate -info comes from the support page of dell by number). And then I bought it:

Now, I installed the new hard drive and the saw that orange error on dell screen is gone and it turned blue without error, but disk 2 lights is on and not flashing do not. Then I checked the dell openmanage 8.2.0 server administration tool and there are still problems with storage.

But there is another information about perc 6i firmware. This is a display issue of the correct information on storage problems? or a problem with the new hard drive?

another step, I checked that I have installed free 6th slot second new sas hard drive and he has not appeared in OpenManage software, but it has noise of rotation and 2 lights without blinking.

I want to check my system is in good condition and reconstruction process is completed.

so can you help me?

1. you can't cross flash OEM and retail drives. You can try to force it, but if you google, you will find it bricks readers about half the time. Best option is to make sure that all are certified OEM. Next best is to ensure that all are retail. Better next time, if you mix them, is to ensure that all disks are at their last respective revisions.

2. only certain types of discs can be updated from the operating system. Most of them, you need to start updating the media.

  • Edge of power R710 with MBE2147RC SAS 6 GB/s 146 GB, 15K RPM in a RAID5 configuration replace it with another disc?

    Hello!!

We have here R710 breaks with the SAS 5 hard drive MBE2147RC model in a RAID5 configuration and we need to buy spare parts, but here they say they only 12Gbps of 300 GB 10 k RPM sas

My question is that these drives are compatible in a RAID5 configuration to use? or do I need another model?

    For example:

    http://www.xByte.com/ProductDesc.aspx?code=CAT_4971_45

Readers must be certified Dell, but do not buy them from Dell. Many authorized dealers carry Dell readers - their choice is often better and their prices are almost always better than buying directly from Dell.

As long as readers are certified, so it doesn't matter what brand/model, you get... readers CAN be larger than the original. They CAN be slower (10K / 15K), but this is NOT desirable, because your table will be made according to the specifications of the most slow/smaller disc in the table.

  • Failed to create full-size VMFS Datastore on large virtual disk on Dell R710 5 2 t + 1, Raid 5 PERC6i controller

ESXi4, I installed it on my Dell R710. She has 6 1 TB on PERC6i SAS drives, 5 discs do Raid 5 with hot spare disk 1. And I created 3 VD, 1 is from 40 GB to install the OS, 2 is 1 TB to contain the model ISO and VM and 3 is 2.6 TB to contain the VM.

After installing ESXi4, I found only 2 created Datastore: 2. 39 GB 1 Datastore and 1 TB data store no data store has been created on the VD 2.6 TB.

I tried to create it manually, but I found that only 635 GB in size can be created on this 2.6 t. Why? As I remembered ESXi4 can support up to 64 TB VMFS Datastore.

    The BIOS is 1.0.4.

    Someone had the idea?

Take a look at this "vSphere and 2 TB LUN has changed VI3.x.

    http://virtualgeek.typepad.com/virtual_geek/2009/06/vSphere-and-2TB-LUNs-changes-from-vi3x.html

Oh, a data store to 64 would consist of 32 degrees to ~ 2 TB. The limit on the size of the LUN behind the data store is 512 b less than 2 TB

  • Adding disks RAID PowerEdge R710

    We have a PowerEdge R710 running a RAID1/RAID5 configuration.

    • PERC 6 / i SAS Raid Controller with 2 x 4 internal connectors.
    • RAID1 is composed of (2) 146GB 15K drives 2.5 "SAS.
    • RAID5 is composed of (3) 500GB 7.2 K Nearline 2.5 "SAS drives.
    • (3) empty bays are available.

The server running VMware ESXi v5.0.0. We have almost maxed out storage so I need to add storage. I don't know what are the options I have to do this. These are the options that are possible, I hope.

    • Add 500 GB (3) discs the same as installed readers and expand the RAID5.
    • Add 500 GB (3) discs the same as installed readers and create a 2nd RAID5.
    • Add (3) 1 or 2 to 7.2 K near-Line SAS 2.5 "drives and create a 2nd RAID5.

Can the PERC6 / i controller supports an another RAID5?

  • Dell RAID 10 PERC6i reference limits?

It is probably a stupid question but,

Dell online shop Configurator does not allow PERC6i RAID 10 configurations more 3.6 TB. Sniff autour on google, it seems, there is a limit artificial store (Dell system images do not go over this size?), and the underlying PERC6i does not have such a limitation.

Just to check, anyone currently running a host ESXi 4 with a Dell PERC6i with a RAID 10 volume greater than 3.6 to?

I know that I can get around the limit of store by selecting for RAID5 and simply recreate the RAID volume once the waiter comes.

I'm not aware of any limitation of size of volume with this controller.  However, as noted above for ESX (i) the table should include the LUNS not larger than (2 TB - 512 bytes).

The annoying limitation of the Perc 5i and 6i controllers, it is only for RAID 10 and RAID 50, only a single LUN occupying all available space can be created.  So to use all the disks in a single Bay RAID 5 or RAID 6 are needed, and with SATA drives because of the size of reliability issue and that really then limits the choice of RAID-6 - as well as its IO write sentence 6.

  • RD5200 raid5 spare drive does not

    Hello world

I have no real support of supported Netgear customer (except say update the firmware that they won't help you if you do not have remote access).

I hope that the community will be placed to help me.

My RD5200 is configured with a volume raid5 on 5 discs + a spare (replacement part is online, all the disks are identical)

Failure of one of the raid drives.

-first problem: the hot spare was no need relay.

second problem: the web management console, one there is no way to get the hot spare in raid5. (at least I did not find).

-problem: we received the replacement drive and traded with the defective (same Bay), the record is seen by the system but still once, do not join the raid volume.

Fourth problem: still no way to reach the spare to the Raid volume.

We tried to restart the RD5200. Several times with installed disks. Also stop it, remove the disc, restart and rear Cap. Nothing to get the disks.

We have also updated to 1.4.4 and did the same tests. nothing.

So we have now a Raid5 that is safer and 2 discs which are not usable with the existing Raid5 volume.

Someone at - it a solution? Thank you for your support.

.. .also I'd be very cautious about the interpretation of n-tier RAID (with disc m) when you are really dealing with ZFS (that Netgear could hide particularly well - only 7 instances of the word "ZFS" on a long ReadyDATA OS Manual of 250 pages - the real storage subsystem each ReadyDATA unit is running with...).

In ZFS (or Open-ZFS, see here) RAID 5 or RAID 6 does not exist in ZFS jargon.

Why? because ZFS, a part of the very traditional single vdev and redundant vdev (mirroring of disks n) - the two generally used on the root Pool - its own RAID-Z1, levels RAID-Z2 and Z3-RAID which provide, respectively, for simple parity, double and triple (while you work with single, double and triple parity vdev).

If your installation (the zpool status-v will tell you that) is - in fact - not a RAID5 but a RAID-Z1 vdev created with 5 disks (more the hot spare that has not been activated automatically on the storage pool), then you * just * (just like a RAID5) gradient RAID-Z1 chicken with remaining 4 drives good and 1 bad disc (once again the Hot Spare disk sat down with idle)... so yes He has degraded... something the next time, with a total of 6 drives available on the chassis, to deploy a single parity double RAID-Z2 storage pool (such mass can support 2 simultaneous drive failures, any disk in the pool) which is preferable to a RAID-Z1 with 5 disks plus one slowed Hot Spare.

A good starting point to understand ZFS can be this page but, out there, there are a lot of good documentation on ZFS, levels of RAID-Z and the ways to properly manage a based ZFS storage pool.

  • Table of RAID5 degraded after system updates

I have a D20, I did a 'fresh install' W7 on a RAID5 array I have set up in the bios (ctrl + m). Now that the system has updated, restart the bios says "degraded" table. Entry (ctrl + m) shows a drive's "rescue", second disk as 'free' and two other "assigned." (It is a RAID5 with four discs). I can't locate instructions to access the MRU. Lenovo solution center the table is 'good '. When installing, I put the first HDD as "backup" and the other three as "affected". Why updates fall (or release) one of the disks? How do I enter MRU? (MRU is the last installed version of Lenovo source.) Suggestions?

Interesting. It must have only deflated the package and does not not through an installer to put in your Program Files directory.

Glad that worked for you. Let us know if you need assistance with your table. I hope that all rebuilt without problem.

  • Disorders of the IdeaPad Y570 sleep/hibernation

Hello everyone: Lenovo customers and the team.

About a month ago, I've got Lenovo Y570 (i7 of second generation, 8 GB RAM, 750 GB HARD disk and so on).

In fact, I am satisfied of this laptop, but here's a very boring question - disorders of the sleep/hibernate.

I installed Windows 7 x 64 Ultimate instead of original Windows 7 Home.

Then I installed all cooler Windows updates (SP1 and all others until today) and all updates for everything (drivers) from lenovo.com

    The problem is:

    (1) sleep mode - when it happens, if I interrupt bit - 5-10 minutes, everything is OK, awake computer. BUT if it stay for long - about 20-30 minutes, when I come back I have meet BSOD with message 'something about power. " I have dumps, if it is necessary.

    (2) hibernation. Each second hibernate leads to-screen sets out of State, formerly the powerfully flashing and then just nothing, computer HARD drive-based stay with black screen, all of the lights on the Panel WE still, power is always on and I can't do it-just to turn OFF with the round power button press.

I tried all the possible solutions - to use power settings, hybrid sleep and hybrids, all modes, all solutions of the internet and my own mind - without success.

Prior to Y570, I've owned Y530 and same configuration of Windows 7, etc - it has no problems with sleep/hibernate implementation.

    Please help me with this?

    Thank you for attention

PS You forgot to say! Sometimes, when I use hibernate - laptop is in hibernation, but shortly after turning off the power - it's on (after 1-2 seconds of the OFF state). Yes, I've checked everything - off set "Wake up" function of each device excluded just keyboard, leave all possible wake timers and so on.

  • Add TD350 drive in RAID5

We try to add a drive on our new TD350 to a RAID5. This was previously created and works very well. There are two additional disks available.

How can we add those toes RAID5. We find no option in Deployment Manager. Or we found no documentation on the Deployment Manager itself.

The server starts in mode UEFI and shows not all guests for the RAID Bios.

It's the whith modell AnyRAID 720ix adapter.

Good to hear. Glad you figured it out.

  • Add more space to a Bay RAID5 on a Server 2003 C: drive

A file server that is running Server 2003 has a range of RAID5 running out of space. I can't extend the space with additional logical drives because there is only a single partition on the C: drive, and it contains the Windows operating system. I've already developed the table using Array Configuration Utility from HP, but it does not recognize the operating system.

  • Internal hard drive inside Dell PowerEdge R710

Well then clarify first of all. This server is NOT used in a business environment. Its literally being used as a home media server (Yes, exaggerated way I know but I got for free so who is complaining).

IM currently using a PowerEdge 2950 as my media server, I just took his upgrade, a R710 Gen 2 and I would like to use all 6 bays at the front for hard drives that I can put the plates on instead of 1 for the operating system and then everything else for the media.

How I would go about installing an internal hard drive, preferably a SSD, inside the R710. I know it has a free SATA port but I can't seem to see the spare power cables or cables molex as there is in the Gen 3 2950 I.

If it is not possible, it's quite good, but I would like to have installed an internal hard drive.

I know there is a USB port, but I use Windows Server R2 2012 (probably soon to be Server 2016) but I'm not sure if Windows Server can be installed on the internal USB port.

If you need to record, or on the label of service I can give you this information.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Arron

Thanks for the clarification. It's something that you can try, but it is not supported and there is no guarantee that the SSD will be detected and it works perfectly. Try this P/N GP700 cable

  • Help - power up to Raid question R710 - the following VDs are missing 01
