  I am using a MBP retina 2012 15 inches with an external monitor, a generic LCD 1080 p via HDMI without problems. And recently updated for Sierra.

  The question starts immediately when I plug it into the screen. The Macbook seems to overheat and run fans above 4000 rpm, which is very audible and boring. CPU and GPU temperatures go above 70 degrees C (normally they make 50 +). The battery holds for only 1.5 hours, generally works well for 4-5 hours.
  I tried killing all apps, followed a bad process in activity monitor, changing default resolution - nothing helps so far. The CPU is barely used by 10%, the memory pressure is fine.
  It's just that time when I plug the screen - Mac starts bad feeling. Never, the problem occurred on El Capitan. Maybe it's a GPU problem, but certainly caused by the OS.

  Try resetting the NVRAM (hold down the command-option-P-R on startup).

  Also, try to restart in Mode without failure, then normally again.

  Finally, try logging into your account, sign in to a user account (or the guest account) and connect the external display. Same problem? If it works fine for a new account then it's something in your own account which is the cause - perhaps an element of connection or some other system changes induced by the operating system previous and who does not play nice with Sierra.

  After reviewing your post, it sounds like you have problems with the resolution of the screen changes and the screen flashes.

  You can use the following steps to check if the images are blocked:

  • Open the web page that has the missing images in a browser tab.
  • Click the site favicon (How do I know if my connection to a Web site is secure?) on the left end of the address bar.
  • Click on the "More information" button to open the "Page Info" with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "tools > Page Info").
  • Go to the Media of the window tab "tools > Page Info.
  • Select the first link of the image and scroll down through the list with the arrow down.
  • If an image in the list is grayed out and there is a check mark in the box "block Images of..." and remove this mark to unlock the images from this area.

  I think that there is no keyboard shortcut. OS X in general does not define a keyboard shortcut for the context menus, and my guess is that JavaFX does not add that to the platforms on which it only is not natively supported. (This is not a definitive answer, mind.)

  Apple of this justification is that menus should be shortened dressers to (a small subset of the) features available elsewhere (typically in the hierarchy from the main menu, and/or in an 'action' menu (menu button in FX)). The menu hierarchy should be navigable to keyboard, and also in this hierarchy menu items will often have their own keyboard shortcuts, sort of keyboard shortcuts for menus becomes superfluous. See guidelines from Apple for the menus. If you agree with these instructions of design is of course your prerogative...

  When a popup is displayed in Flex app, Flex display gets moved down in Safari under Mac OS only. However, even if the screen is shifted down, orders appear to be in the correct position. For example, to click on a button, the cursor must be a few pixels above illustrated screen. Not only the Flex display moves down. Display of HTML links also moves down with Flex and the links are clickable a few pixels above the screen.

  Found a solution for this. CallLater() appeared the problem in Safari. Once I deleted CallLater and directly called my function, the problem has been resolved.

  OK, finally FF8 works.

  In other posts, said that I need to check the firewall or antivirus rules and restrictions. Well, I did it, I disabled my native firewall without a bit of luck. I installed Little Snitch, and I have disabled too for the connectivity test FF8... range of success either.

  Just today, I found a post in a forum that said literally:

  "To anyone who still has problems, it may be because you have Little Snitch installed 2.4.0. This is a bug known for this version. Try to update to 2.4.2. »

  I was using 2.4.0 version and some update to last... but FF8 did still no work... lol... I just decide to disable and FF8 works perfectly. Now I just delete all my Little Snitch rules.

  This hotfix, the problem, but I make sure that the update fixes the problem, or only the Little Snitch rules clean.

• E228WFP display disappears

  New E228WFP monitor bought February 10, 2009 (with Inspiron 530) and worked like a charm, until 2 days ago. The display became suddenly black but the light stayed on green power. The LED will stop, turned back on, monitor was beautiful, but it was same thing maybe 10 times during an hour or two. Updated, driver check viruses, etc. - all the usual troubleshooting - could not find any problem. Noticed that the monitor seemed to warm at the top of the back.  Monitor closed off during a few minutes, re-set and it was fine for 48 hours. Then this afternoon, the same question, and I immediately noticed that the back (top) seemed very warm to the touch. Stop in a minute or two, and the monitor when turned on, was no problem since. Were devoted to fashion when it is supposed to (orange LED) power saving and also sleep when put in this mode.

  Display blacking out but the green light on is not normal of course. It does not have the thing "auto-detect" either when he died like that. I connected with the cable analog and checked all connections. Other than these a few times, it works normally and is beautiful. Both times it happened, it has been a little "blocked" in the area where the system is - in a corner of death of the room in a computer workstation - a lot of ventilation - but the time on the warm side (80 degrees or more?)   What is a heat/humidity problem?  I know that computers are sensitive and I was wondering if display blacking out was a warning of some sort that the monitor was about to overheat and it was a protection device (closing).  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I bring everything that happens in the future, just so that everyone with this issue will be able to follow. I find these forums more useful, and this is why I submit it.  I doubt that the problem is a backlight problem, since it is immediately what re - set and when temperatures are 'normal' we never noticed any problems.

  This is a note to those setting their monitors by installing a 500 k resistance. It was of a temporary workaround until the discovery of the root cause, i.e. C806 failure. I also mounted the resistance before someone on this forum discovered the faulty capacitor.

  So the solution is to REPLACE C806 with a ceramic of SMT 1uF, 25V capacitor. I don't remember if it is of size 0402 and 0603. You can get away with a party to lead, and you can just fold the wires depending on the spacing of the filling. If you use a polarized capacitor, such as tantalum or electrolytic then the negative terminal should go on the keyboard that connects to D812.

  My monitor has worked successfully for months after that I removed the additional 500 k resistor and replaced the capacitor in place.
