  hoping someone can help me. I use my laptop the other day when the screen flashed and since there was (I'll try my best to describe it) but 3 vertical strips of flashing green lines to the bottom of the screen. When you look closely it are actually characters. When I restart the computer there are horizontal lines of different colorful characters across the screen before even that windows loads up. I tried searching for viruses, restore the computer to a point before that - makes no difference and I tried to update the display driver.

  Any ideas appreciated, don't know what to try next :(

  I have a Dell Latitude D600 and at random times display signal with horizontal lines. I can sometimes it agitate gently turning the LCD and it, wavers. I did some research before and thought that the problem would be the video cable of flex, which I ordered and installed, but it still flashes. The LCD looks aesthetically perfect, but also of the inverter. The backlight of the display is not flickering, rather there are white lines that flicker at random, so I don't think it is the inverter.

  I hung it via VGA to an external machine and only laptop suffered the flick so I think that the graphics card is fine.

  I replaced the LCD and the power inverter (low priced together) and the screen flashes is no longer.

  I have Toshiba A200 PSAFCA-01K00J.
  Last night, I restarted the laptop and screen did not appear.

  Maybe you should try FN + F5
  This key combination switches the screen external monitor output.

  But to be honest, this looks like a display problem.
