Distance access VPN and DNS

I have a removal access vpn set up on my ASA 5510 that works very well, pool VPN easily allocates IP used remotely, but they have some network drivers shared on their machines & most of them is bound by using the computer name rather than the IP address, which normally does not like pool VPN provides the IP of the DNS for clients remote. Is it possible to assign the DNS IP IP VPN?

Thank you

Hello

Of course, you can enable:

attributes of Group Policy-{VPNGROUPOLICYNAME}

value of DNS server the dns server ip

Kind regards

  • Remote access VPN and VPN S2S

Remote access users are not able to reach our remote network via a tunnel from site to site VPN between two ASA 5505.

I've seen several threads about this here, I ran through the procedure step by step http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00807f9a89.shtml ... I got stabbed at setting split tunneling and nat exemption, but it seems that I'm missing something. Remote access users can reach the main site, but not on the remote site.

    (Vpn-houston) remote access using 192.168.69.0/24.

The main site (houston) using 10.0.0.0/24

The remote site (lugoff) uses 10.0.1.0/24

Could I get a new look on my configs and maybe point out where I have gone wrong?

    Thank you...

at first glance,'re missing you 'same-security-traffic permit intra-interface' in houston

you're also missing this in houston:

    access-list extended sheep allowed ip vpn-houston 255.255.255.0 255.255.255.0 lugoff

    and this:

permit access list extended ip vpn-houston 255.255.255.0 outside_cryptomap_1 255.255.255.0 lugoff

and you will need to remove the second card useless encryption 3 lugoff, delete them:

no card crypto outside_map 3 set pfs

  • AnyConnect vpn and a tunnel vpn Firewall even outside of the interface.

I have a (no connection) remote access vpn and ipsec tunnel connection to return to our supplier is on the same firewall outside interface.

The problem is when users remote vpn in they are not able to ping or join the provider above the tunnel network.

now, I understand that this is a Bobby pin hair or u turn due to traffic but I'm still not able to understand how the remote vpn users can reach the network of the provider on the tunnel that ends on the same interface where remote access vpn is also configured.

The firewall is asa 5510 worm 9.1

    Any suggestions please.

    Hello

You are on the right track. Turning U will be required to allow vpn clients access to resources in the L2L VPN tunnel.

The essence is that the split tunneling to access list must include subnets of the remote VPN to peer once the user connects they have directions pertaining to remote resources on anyconnect VPN

Please go through this post and it will guide you how to set up the u turn on the SAA.

  • site2site distance-VPN and access-PIX - no way?

    I have,

I have a problem wrt site2site & VPN remote access on a PIX:

My setup is as follows: PIX (6.3) puts an end to two a site2-site VPN and also should the remote access service clients using the client VPN Cisco (4.0.x).

The problem is with remote access VPN clients, obtain an IP address on their VPN interface, but customers cannot reach anything. (Please note that the site2site VPN runs without problem)

To be precise (see config-excerpts below):

The customer, who has 212.138.109.20 as its IP address gets an IP 10.0.100.1 on his card-VPN which comes from the "vpnpool of the pool.

configured on the PIX. This customer relationships to reach servers on interface 'inside' of the PIX as 10.0.1.28.

However, the client cannot achieve * nothing *-a server on the inside or anything like that (e.g. Internet) outside!

Using Ethereal traces, I discovered that the packets arrive inside interface coming 10.0.100.1 (IP address of the)

VPN - client). I also see the response from the server (10.0.1.28) to 10.0.100.1. However for some reason any package does not thanks to

the PIX to the customer. PIX-newspapers also show packets to and from the VPN client to the inside interface - and * no. * drops. So to my knowledge the packets from server to the VPN client really should be done through the PIX.

I have attached the following as separate files:

    (o) the parts of the PIX config

    (o) packets showing PIX-log between the VPN client and the server (s) on the interface inside

    (o) ethereal-trace done inside the watch interface also packets between VPN client and server (s)

I have really scratched my head for a while on this one, tested a lot of things, but I really don't know what could be a problem with my

    config.

After all, it really should be possible to run site2site - and on the same PIX VPN remote access, shouldn't it?

Thank you very much in advance for your help,.

    -ewald

I think that your problem is in your ACL and your crypto card:

    access-list 101 permit ip 10.0.1.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.2.0 255.255.255.0

    access-list 101 permit ip 10.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.2.0 255.255.255.0

    access-list 101 permit ip 10.0.3.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.2.0 255.255.255.0

    access-list 101 permit ip 10.0.1.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.100.0 255.255.255.0

    correspondence address 1 card crypto loc2rem 101

This means that this map correspond to these addresses. But your dynamic map is one that must match 10.0.100.0, 10.0.1.0 traffic because your pool local ip is 10.0.100.x. I think what is happening is that the return traffic from the lan to vpn clients trying to get out of the static tunnel, which probably does not exist (for the netblocks - you probably have a security association for each pair of netblocks, but not for vpn clients) and so do not.

I would recommend adding these lines:

    access-list 105 allow ip 10.0.1.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.2.0 255.255.255.0

    access-list 105 allow ip 10.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.2.0 255.255.255.0

    access-list 105 permit 10.0.3.0 ip 255.255.255.0 10.0.2.0 255.255.255.0

no correspondence address 1 card crypto loc2rem 101

    correspondence address 1 card crypto loc2rem 105

    Then reapply:

    loc2rem interface card crypto outside

This example shows the client VPN access to the network behind PIX RADIUS. I want the client to also be able to access the central network, i.e. the client connects to the pix speaks via vpn, and traffic is routed through the vpn to PIX - PIX to the central site.

How this would change the configuration contained in the example?

    See you soon,.

    Jon

You can not do this, the PIX cannot route a package back on the same interface, it is entered in the. The only way to do that is to have the client connect to the hub PIX, but then they would not be able to get to the network behind PIX distance either.

Or that the customer would connect on a different interface in the PIX of distance, but this would mean another connection ISP on this PIX. Example of config is here: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/110/client-pixhub.html

  • How to prohibit remote access vpn client to use the local DNS server

    Hello

I'm on ASA5505 remote access vpn configuration.

Everything works fine so far, except when the client got connected, he always used the local DNS server provided by the ISP.  How can I force the customer to use the DNS server configured on ASA?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

The command "Activate dns split-tunnel-all" is supported only on SSL VPN and VPN IKEv2. Since you're using IKEv1, this command is not supported.

    Here's the order reference:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/security/ASA/asa82/command/reference/S8.html#wp1533793

You configure no split tunnel? If you are, then you need to configure "tunnelall" split tunnel policy, and that will force the dns resolution and everything else through the VPN tunnel.

  • Access VPN ASA and cisco ISE Admin

    Hello

Currently I'm deployment anyconnect VPN Solution for my client on ASA 9.2 (3). We use the ISE 1.3 to authenticate remote users.

In the policy stipulates the conditions, I put the condition as below.

    Policy name: Anyconnect

Condition: DEVICE: Device Type Device Type #All Device Types #Dial - in access EQUALS AND
RADIUS: NAS-Port-Type is equal to virtual

I'm authenticating users against the AD.

I am also restrict users based on group membership in authorization policies by using the OU attributes.

This works as expected for remote users.

We also use the ISE to authenticate administrators to connect to the firewall. Now what happens is, Cisco ASA valid also against policy, administrators and their default name Anyconnect.

Now the question is, how to set up different political requirement for access network admin and users the same Firewall VPN.

Any suggestions on this would be a great help.

    See you soon,.

  • AnyConnect VPN and LAN access

When remote users to connect to the Cisco ASA VPN and authenticate with Cisco AnyConnect client, they then full access to the environment internal of LAN of business as if they were sitting at their desks in the Office of the Corporation.

    Right?

After that the remote client authenticates to the AnyConnect VPN, it is sensible to then run remote users of traffic through the corporate firewall (outside to inside) before allowing LAN access full corporate?

    Remote_User - vpn - ANYCONNECT-(outside) (inside) firewall - CORP_LAN

    Thank you

    Frank

    Hello

Yes, by default, all traffic will be sent through the tunnel.

If there are users VPN shouldn't be able to reach the resources, you need to establish rules for access to it. The best way to do this is by using VPN filter.

  • PIX 515E and remote access VPN

I use a PIX 515E with: ASDM Version: 5,0000 51 PIX Version: 8.0 (4) and configure it with remote access VPN.

I would like to get an email every time that a user login (and or disconnection) to the VPN. Remote clients use the Cisco VPN Client.

    Any help is appreciated,

    Hello

Here is a link to the email configuration when you log in to the ASA/PIX: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/pix-500-series-security-appliances/63884-config-asa-00.html#anc7

Then you can create a list of message to send the logs only for the connection/disconnection of the VPN user: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/pix-500-series-security-appliances/63884-config-asa-00.html#anc18

Remote VPN IPsec IKEv1 access are listed as groups of tunnel. If you enter

You can see the config sections (starting with the first mention of the tunnel-group) as well as the pre-shared key ikev1 plaintext String.

  • Remote access ASA, VPN and NAT

    Hello

I try to get access to remote VPN work using a Cisco VPN client and ASA with no split tunneling. The VPN works a little, I can access devices inside when I connect, but I can't access the Internet. I don't see any errors in the log ASA except these:

1 Jul 04:59:15 % ASA-3-305006 gatekeeper: failed to create translation portmap for udp src outside:192.168.47.200/137 dst outside:192.168.47.255/137
1 Jul 04:59:15 % ASA-3-305006 gatekeeper: failed to create translation portmap for udp src outside:192.168.47.200/54918 dst outsidexx.xxx.xxx.xxx/53

There is only one address public IP that is assigned to the external interface of DHCP. The Interior is 192.168.1.0/24 network which is PAT'ed to the external interface and the VPN network is 192.168.47.X.

I think my problem is that the net.47 is not NAT'ed out properly and I don't know how to put in place exactly. I can't understand how this is supposed to work since the net VPN technically provenance from the outside already.

Here are all the relevant config:

list of vpn access extended permits all ip 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0
    Within 1500 MTU
    Outside 1500 MTU
    IP local pool vpnpool 192.168.47.200 - 192.168.47.220 mask 255.255.255.0
IP verify reverse path to the outside interface
IP audit info alarm drop action
IP audit attack alarm drop action
    ICMP unreachable rate-limit 1 burst-size 1
    ICMP allow all outside
    Global interface (2 inside)
    Global 1 interface (outside)
NAT (inside) 0-list of access vpn
    NAT (inside) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0
    NAT (outside) 2 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0 outside
static (inside, outside) tcp 3074 XBOX360 3074 netmask 255.255.255.255 interface
static (inside, outside) udp 3074 XBOX360 3074 netmask 255.255.255.255 interface
public static (inside, outside) udp interface 88 88 XBOX360 netmask 255.255.255.255
public static tcp (indoor, outdoor) https someids netmask 255.255.255.255 https interface

I can post more of the configuration if necessary.

Change ' nat (outside) 2 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0 apart ' "NAT (2-list of vpn access outdoors outside)" gives these:

1 Jul 06:18:35 % gatekeeper ASA-3-305005: no group of translation not found for udp src outside:192.168.47.200/56003 dst outside:66.174.95.44/53

So, how I do right NAT VPN traffic so it can access the Internet?

A few things that needs to be changed:

    (1) NAT exemption what ACL must be modified to be more specific while the traffic between the internal subnets and subnet pool vpn is not coordinated. NAT exemption takes precedence over all other statements of NAT, so your internet traffic from the vpn does not work.

    This ACL:

list of vpn access extended permits all ip 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0

    Should be changed to:

extensive list of access vpn ip 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0 allow

    (2) you don't need statement "overall (inside) 2. Here's what to be configured:

    no nat (outside) 2 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0 outside

    no global interface (2 inside)

    NAT (outside) 1 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0

    (3) and finally, you must activate the following allow traffic back on the external interface:

    permit same-security-traffic intra-interface

And don't forget to clear xlate after the changes described above and connect to your VPN.

    Hope that helps.

  • CSA with the Client VPN and remote access

    Hello world!

I have the folowing isue: I have to tune in to the CSA for a clinet it connects remote with VPN Client only. He should not be able to connect to any other network or lan or dial-up.

No idea what the policy should change or tune?

    Thank you

You can create an access network rule that depends on a State of the system. The State of the system can be defined to have a game of skill, which belongs to the range of VPN and the network access rule would declare that the client computer cannot act as a server on UDP/TCP ports when the State of the system is ensured.

So, if the laptop is not connected to the VPN, it would not be able to act as a server for connections to all and will be locked out. You will need to create an exception for the IP address of the VPN server to your corporate offices and allow the CSA client opening these ports.

  • L2l VPN and remote access VPN

    Hello

I have 2 Cisco Pix (Pix1, Pix2) 515E (8.0.4). Between these devices exist VPN L2L, which are configured on the external interfaces. On Pix2 I configured remote access VPN on the external interface, too.

Is it possible to achieve LAN behind Pix1, by using remote access VPN on Pix2 then VPN L2L?

I don't want to set up remote access on Pix1.

    Thank you very much.

    Kind regards

    Vladislav

NAT (outside) 1 140.40.30.0 255.255.255.0 (PAT for RA vpn to access the internet if you complete tunnel)

It is simply because I have configured tunnel RA as complete tunnel instead of split, nat (outside) 1 at the RA 140.40.30.0 pool have internet access through your firewall ASA_SITE_B and translate with global ID 1 who is your external interface of the firewall SA_SITE_B. This has nothing to do with what you are trying to accomplish, but I posted it because it was part of the very common scenario. There are some example PIX 6.3 cases where you will need split tunnel so that RA users have internet access not passing not through the encrypted tunnel code 6.0 does not feature of intra-interface support but 7.x above is of the code. Other examples are that some people configure split RA RA user tunnel will have access to their local resources in their homes as the printers network etc...

It is therefore, I need to translate 172.27.1.0/24 RA pool?

No there is no address translation in place in this scenario to work and you don't need to translate something too long, there is no of networks that overlap in one of the SITES u do not need to translate, this scenario is completely free sheep as you access lists free of nat in two firewalls for networks involved in communication in tunnels ASA_SITE_B.

Because I want to see IP addresses from PIX_SITE_A to 172.27.1.0/24, not 140.40.30.0/24. Is it possible to do it this way?

Im not clear on this issue, but if I think what it means, it's possible but you need to have political NATing but I think this will make complicated setup, I would say to make this as simple as possible.
