DM1 - 4160ca screen well not curly

When you open the lid of my laptop dm1 - 4160ca, the screen would not fix itself well and freely shake a few degrees backward. I found the reason to be LCD screw was tightened on the hinges on both sides at halfway. Once fully tightened, the problem has been resolved except for the following:

Clips (no screws), which was quite easy to remove the frame of the screen. But the middle part of the bottom of the frame was glued directly on the black strip of the circuit board to the LCD screen. When I tried to remove the framework (like careully I could), it looks like that I ripped out of some of the thin wires between the frame and the LCD. I disassembled the many laptop computers and screens and never come across anything like this before.

Now when I turn on the laptop, the entire screen is half grey, half white (from left to right). And I check the cable of the screen on both sides.

I would like to know your thoughts if I messed up somewhere or it's a bad design of HP?

Thank you.

I've included better pictures this time. You can see there are two ribbon cables come from what looks like an inverter. I could not hang the torn offline. It was probably welded or glued with care or something like that. I ended up ordering a new screen, $65, which is not bad.

  • my iphone 6 more screen sudeenly Gets a little blurry. touch screen does not

    Hello team,

I bought the Iphone 6 more. that worked very well the last 6 months but suddenly I see that the LCD is completely blurred. touch screen works not. even when I am clicking on the home button or the sleep nothing works. After clicking the button sleep repeatedly the screen starts to work. It's really me trouble because I'm not able to receive the phone several times. Can someone help me if this is a known issue and what is the solution for this? just a heads up that there is no coincidence.

Try a Reset: press and hold the sleep/wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. -Note: no data will be lost

  • Replaced the cable. Now, the screen does not work. What could be?

The cable coming out of the back of my monitor Apple Thunderbolt Display is fraying. I decided that rather than risk a short at a certain point, I preemptively replace the cable. On iFixit teardown photos, I decided to replace the cable coming out of the back of the screen myself instead of paying almost $200 to get an Apple service provider to do that here in Bangkok. Bought the cable on AliExpress for $12. It replaced. And... no dice. Screen has not come.

    My setup

    [MacBook Air]-[Thunderbolt Display]-[drive Thunderbolt]-[Cinema Display]

with a key USB drive and Ethernet connected to the back of the Thunderbolt display

    Already tried this

    • First impressions were that the cable was defective. But then I noticed Ethernet came the USB has been mounted, Thunderbolt was mounted drive and after a reboot, the movie screen come also. Obviously, the cable has been working very well.
    • Second thought was that I'd neglected to plug some cables that connect the LCD to the main logic board. I checked. Seemed fine.
    • Third was maybe the serial number of the cable was somehow connected to the main logic board. So I put the old cable. Still no screen.
    • Tried to connect the screen with a Thunderbolt external cable, everything worked as well but still no image on the screen.
    • Tried more than 30 seconds and 3 hours disconnected as a "reset" of the screen. No change.
    • Restarted my laptop. No change.
    • Thunderbolt Display well plugged the drive and then into the MacBook, so change the sequence of the devices. No change.
    • Information reports under "Thunderbolt" the entire chain of devices, but under "Graphics/displays" system displays only the internal screen and Cinema Display.
    • Using the newly purchased cable as a Thunderbolt external cable works fine too.

    Question

Does anyone have suggestions on what to try next?

The logic card goes into a sort of locked mode when you replace the cable?

Is there more than 3 flat cables connection + connection to the land between the Panel and main Board?

Although there is no reason to think that this has been, how to test LCD screen still work given all these flat cable connectors?

Note: There is no Apple here store.  Apple authorized service providers are without help. He suggested to replace the cable and the Panel at a cost that is almost the same as the purchase of a new screen.

Some of the cables that connect the LCD to the main logic board, are very short. Careful lifting the LCD, because it will go away with strength cables once that raise you it more than 2 to 3 inches on the side of the camera module.

The shorter cable of all is the LVDS cable. A short cable with gold plated connector. Although I have had reconnected the cable on the side of the logic board, I had wrongly assumed that the other end of the cable was stayed connected because all the band used on. Someone with experience of fixing these things said of his town for this cable to unravel by force and to be sure to check both ends of the cable. When I peeled back the tape, I found that he had indeed been disconnected. Reconnect, fiddling with the tiny workspace to get the logical side of Board of Directors of what properly fixed cable again and we were back in business.

Apple authorized service providers here in Bangkok have quoted me $200 to replace the cable. I ordered the replacement cable Thunderbolt Display off AliExpress for $12.50. It was really simple to replace the cable, just to keep an eye on this darn LVDS cable opening to the top of the screen!

  • Satellite C850-1LK - screen does not work

I got the c850-1lk for about 6 months and it is running Windows 8.1. I started it this afternoon and to navigate on the internet for half an hour when the screen turns off (power and wifi lights still on and could hear the fan running). I turned it and then turn on again, but the screen does not light even if I assume that the laptop itself starts well.

The laptop was not struck and no physical damage has ever been done for her. The only previous problems were related to windows and the update 8.1 where he managed to remove the bootloader, but I managed to fix it with a bootable Linux disc then a complete reset of the system. Linux isn't there anymore.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's really not easy to say what the problem is here. Remove the battery and press the power for 30 seconds. Connect the power supply only and start it again.

    Hello

Try to connect the camcorder to a TV.
Usually, the LCD is turned off when the device is connected to the TV.
Maybe you could see something on the TV screen

Otherwise I guess that it is a hardware problem and you should get in touch with your dealer or the service of Toshiba.

    Welcome them

  • Still 2 WT10 - touch screen does not work

Sometimes the touch screen does not work or malfunctioning, as does replacing the system and continues. When it crashes I have to suspend the Tablet and wait a bit, sometimes I have to play several times to select what I want. Anyone know what it could be?

    Have a Toshiba Encore 2 WT10

You said; you have already changed the system.
What did you change? The ENCORE 2 WT10-A-102 was pre-installed with Win OS 8.1.

Also, I guess the problem described is related to busy BONE.
Probably too many applications (apps) as well as the process running in the background and this could lead to short a few drop-outs or performance problems.

  • Satellite U400-15B screen is not bright, as it used to be

    Hello everyone

I've had my U400-15B almost a year now and I noticed that the screen is not as bright as it used to be.
The brightness level is at the maximum, but it seems a bit dull.

Everyone has noticed this or is it just the LCD is not not very good?

    Hello

    > Brightness level is at the maximum, but it seems just a bit dull.
So you're saying that you have already checked the FN + F7 key secret that increases the brightness of the screen?

Well, maybe there's an FL inverter problem?
The FL inverter is a small part that controls the brightness of the display.
If this part starts bad run then you will see the screen as behind a thick fog.

If it's a deal, then you should get in touch with a local service technician whu could replace this.

PS; If you are running Windows 7, then you should go to Win 7 power management and need to check if the Win 7 didn t adjust the brightness of the display at the lower level in order to save the battery. Windows 7 supports a power saving mode that tries to save power

  • right of the touch screen does not

Hi apple, I dropped my iPhone 5 c not so long ago, and when I went to answer a text (my phone is locked with a password), I went to type my password in and the right side of my screen does not work, I tried to plug my phone into my computer , but it does not leave my access it from there because its locked and I cannot get in, is there a way to fix this? I can't lose anything on my phone because that have extremely important things on it and its not fully supported until that date.

    Thank you

It is most likely just be a screen issue that will be fixed with replacing the screen.  Assuming that you are out of warranty and do not have Applecare... Your option at Apple is a permutation of the screen for $129 - make sure you call ahead and confirm that your Apple Store makes replacements of the screen in the House, many do not.  Apple offers a replacement by mail from the screen.

Your independent repair option would be similar - find a local store reviewed well, providing a guarantee of at least 3 months on the repair, ideally 6 months or life.   Now would cost about $75 - $110 for a 5 series phone.   Do not take a shop based on price because of alternative screens vary in quality a little.   Find a store that uses parts of original quality and is backed by the best guarantee.

  • Screen does not light after the start, but after standby on Satellite M100

    Hello
I have some experience with computers and laptops, but this problem exhausted all of my knowledge.
My girlfriend has a Toshiba Satellite M100, PSMA1E. He currently works on Windows XP, SP3.
The laptop has always had problems closing/stand bye. He would stand bye and the screen would not. She would usually be manually turn off (holding the power button) and restart.

Same thing happened last week, but with me. I turned off the power button but when I turned it on the screen was completely black. After a few attempts, I realized that everything worked; I could hear the usual audio files and XP Boot, but there was no way I could get the job of the screen.

The strangest thing is that the CMOS/BIOS, one with the Toshiba logo settings screen, also does not appear. If it's an OS problem, I thought that I would be able to access the BIOS at least, but it does not work. FN + F5 does not work.

Then, strange yet something happened. I was turning it on and off with keyboard shortcuts and I realized that if I put on stand bye using shortcuts and then go back on the screen turns on perfectly well (there is a cause of adjustment resolution icons are irrelevant, but it works perfectly fine).

From that on I tried everything I know. Update the BIOS, all Windows XP updates, all Toshiba QuickFix, cleaning the registry with different tools, uninstall and reinstall the video driver (ATI Radeon X 1400) utility, shortcuts keyboard, power saver, tools hardware Toshiba, looking to start up programs, services, everything I could possibly think off.

What intrigues me is that the Toshiba start screen will not be displayed. I can't access the BIOS, but I tried to restore the standard values of the BIOS with Toshiba hardware tools. It did not work. I don't even know if reinstalling XP will work because whenever I turn it on it is all black and I have to make the stand bye / Tower on Tower.

When I have it plugged into an external monitor, I could see all starting the process (initial screen of the BIOS and Windows). I then tried to access the video driver display configuration but it would show only the external monitor. It would only detect the laptop screen after a stand bye / turn back on, and then it worked perfectly: the screen two screens simultaneously, extended, everything. Ah, changing BIOS selection automatic the LCD + external monitor does not work.

I am really puzzled here and I can't understand it. I really don't think it's a hardware problem, because the screen works 100% after the stand bye. I guess that XP is do something during the closing down that completely 'stops' my screen, even after starting, and then I can only turn it on with the thing stand bye.

Any help would be really appreciated!

    Best,

    Hi guys

I had a similar problem on a series of Satellite A200 and I could solve works to update the BIOS and update the graphics driver.
In addition, you must make sure that all available MS fixes and patches have been installed.

Unfortunately, but that's all I can suggest. If the problem persists and you would not be able to solve update components then an ASP needs to check.

    Good luck

  • 1299 Z575 screen does not

    Hi all

A month ago I bought a brand new IdeaPad Z575 1299 TigerDirect. The machine had no problem until the other day when I went to turn it on the screen will not turn on. It seems to work perfectly, but the screen has no power at all - not only dark but looks as if it has no light. I plugged in a monitor outside, and who worked makes me think that my problem might have to do with the backlight or inverter.

I also tested well the function + F2 and F3 that turn the backlight on/off and control whether or not the projects from the laptop to a projector/external/etc. display nothing helps. The machine never fell, has never been wet, etc. It started from nowhere.

Anyone has any ideas on possible causes/solutions? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi raphtmnt

Looks like graphics cards, lcd or inverter issue and due to its ' hardware problem, to fix it I suggest contact you lenovo support line.

  • HPStream x 360 ConvertiblePC 11: touch screen does not work after update of Windows 10

I updated my computer to Windows 10 but the touch screen no longer works. I've updated the drivers, but there has been no change. Any suggestions?

    Amazing! Problem solved!

I heard there was a reset function in Windows 10 but I really didn't think he would do anything. The touch screen did not work when I originally did a new install of Windows 10 so why would it now? But he did. My touch screen works well and even better, he deleted loads of disk space.

To simply type "reset" in the search and recovery option returns to the update & security. 'Start' this PC with Reset and select this option to remove all. After about an hour or two, my computer was fully functional. The downside was having to reinstall applications and files, but is not a major concern.

    Result!

  • XPS One 2710 - Touch screen DOES not work

My touch screen is not available on my 2710.  It worked fine for a very long time.

Calibration is not available... System-> about said "no pen or touch input is available for this view."

I noticed after I upgraded to Windows 10.   (but this is not necessarily the exact time fell out, I don't use it much)

Then I downgraded back to 8.   Isn't there.   Figured I might as well go back to Windows 10.

I did other things within the same rough period.   BIOS upgrade to A12.   Modified by some drivers, etc...

I tried drivers, controlled at the touch of a cable on the motherboard... but did not have a single not forwards.

Would love to hear some suggestions or ideas.

    Thanks in advance.

My 2710 XPS with touch monitor WORKS.  I did have a problem at all, even at the Vernissage of builds. I think that the missing element is the Dell OSD Application, which can be downloaded here: link

I did a clean install of Windows 10, do not know if it matters.  Also, I went and installed all the drivers from Dell as well. I recommend to enter your service tag to get the specific drivers for your configuration.  Select Windows 8.1 in the menu drop-down.

Since the 2720 is supported by Dell, I also installed some drivers select here.  I don't remember the those who precisely.

  • HP Probook 4520 s screen does not do anything...

    Hi everyone...

I have a display problem with my Probook 4520 s. The screen does not show anything, not the bios boot, no windows.

It starts really normally no other problems at all. I plugged the other external VGA monitor and works very well. But the Symbols is completely disabled does not display anything. Normally, I manage my laptop with great care.

I chat with HP support team, they suggested

Please perform a dry boot on the laptop by following the steps below:
    1. disconnect all external devices and adapter unit
    2. remove the battery and press and hold power for 45 seconds. This should completely discharge any residual charge in the Group
    3. restart the computer by using only the AC adapter.

    But no luck.

    Please provide a suggestion/solution.

    Thank you.

In a dark room, boot up your laptop and shine a flashlight on the LCD screen.

If you see a very dark Windows desktop, then you have the chance.

The backlight inverter has failed and must be replaced. If you are a kind of DIY user, then this is a repair at low cost. If this is not the case, have done so in a store could cost @ $75.00.

If you still don't see anything then the LCD failed. It is a more expensive repair.

If your laptop is still within its warranty period, it's time to Contact HP warranty repair service.

    Best regards

  • Several screens do not work at all (host OSX with guest OSX)

I have a lot of Mavericks, and I am trying to run any version of Mac OS x in a virtual machine on that host, while retaining several monitors. OS x 10.8, 10.9 and 10.10 guests could not give me more than 1 monitor. I repeated these tests with a crowd of Yosemite, with no luck either.

It seems to me that it is a problem of Fusion, is not a problem of OSX config.

    • Multiple monitors works very well in a guest of Win 7 on the same host machine (excludes the host machine spaces configs)
    • I expect that if the merger was exposing all of my monitors prompted OSX, OSX comments would have at least some information via the display/prefs system that monitor the most a are attached to it. The guest seems to think he has only 1 monitor.
    • When I switch single mode window to full screen (IE, 'use all monitors') in Fusion, Fusion logs seem to indicate that it configures 1 instructor for the guest, where I expect to see 6:
