HP Probook 4520 s screen does not do anything...

Hi everyone...

I have a display problem with my Probook 4520 s. The screen does not show anything, not the bios boot, no windows.

It starts really normally no other problems at all. I plugged the other external VGA monitor and works very well. But the Symbols is completely disabled does not display anything. Normally, I manage my laptop with great care.

I chat with HP support team, they suggested


Please perform a dry boot on the laptop by following the steps below:
1. disconnect all external devices and adapter unit
2. remove the battery and press and hold power for 45 seconds. This should completely discharge any residual charge in the Group
3. restart the computer by using only the AC adapter.

But no luck.

Please provide a suggestion/solution.

In a dark room, boot up your laptop and shine a flashlight on the LCD screen.

If you see a very dark Windows desktop, then you have the chance.

The backlight inverter has failed and must be replaced. If you are a kind of DIY user, then this is a repair at low cost. If this is not the case, have done so in a store could cost @ $75.00.

If you still don't see anything then the LCD failed. It is a more expensive repair.

If your laptop is still within its warranty period, it's time to Contact HP warranty repair service.

    Did you of recent changes made to your computer?

    We will reinstall the internal keyboard drivers and check.

    a. click Start, type Control Panel in the search box, press enter, click System, click Device Manager, click on keyboard.
    b. you should find the internal keyboard part as well as any external keyboard used.
    c. right-click on the keyboard integrated in the list, click on uninstall.
    d. unplug the external keyboard.
    e. restart the computer and check if the keyboard internal works.

    Since the external USB keyboard works, if drivers did not fix the internal keyboard problem, I suggest you to contact the manufacturer to check if there is a hardware problem.

    When I press the power button, my laptop turns on but the screen remains black / off.

    Long ago, I had similar problem on my old Satellite. CPU was faulty. After replacing the CPU, everything was OK again.
    I put t really know what to say.
    Maybe you should contact Toshiba and let check your laptop. They have diagnostic tools and may know what is the problem.

    My wife's parents bought a Toshiba Qosmio DX730 (model PQQ11A). They have recently upgraded to Windows 8 and the touch screen does not work now.

    The problem is lack of drivers (the monitor driver reports as a generic PnP monitor).

    I have went on the Toshiba site and selected downloads driver for the appropriate model and installed a number of drivers, including recommended NVidia display drivers. There is no drivers on the site that seem to install support for Toshiba touchscreen.

    Are there no drivers available for this model Windows 8? If not, is there another solution? If Yes, where can I find them. Any help very appreciated because they have nice and bought computer Windows 8 so they could use the touch functions.
