  Basically, several months ago I noticed something strange on my computer - I know that I should have acted immediately - my Task Manager has been "disabled by Administrator [my]". Yet, I am the administrator!

  Secondly, I lit my system yesterday and was immediately welcomed with a pale blue screen with lots of white, writing, that says, ' we recommend strongly you do not press "ENTER"...? If you do and you want to move before the expiry of the period...? " However, in time, that I tried to browse what was in front of me (that I was unable to catch everything), a 10 sec period had expired and many more white/numbers/text symbols suddenly started flowing to the bottom of my screen (for 15-20 seconds-from left to right)! In addition, my turn makes an unusual noise - as serious an alert! Immediately after, my system loaded up as usual!

  So, I opened the Start Menu (after I restarted my computer to activate the Safe Mode) and the arrow keys has / not working -I can't navigate upwards or downwards to select one of the options! Yet, they have worked perfectly any other time since - just not in Start Menu! Then, I scanned with Windows Defender and nothing has found summer - my "system is safe."

  Third, since then, I've noticed that my system (Windows XP) ran much more slowly too - informed the script is busy, plug-ins are insensitive, etc. - and the/things are / dragged across the screen! Therefore, I searched the forum and help guide to Firefox for everything that seemed similar and came across an instance of another person things 'slide' with a slow system, who suspects a virus! So, I followed the advice given to them - reset Firefox and download a "10 days free Microsoft Virus Scanner" (recorded under msert.exe); He set off to search for more than 9 hours, which found nothing/no infected files!

  Finally, for all that, I can not use system restore or reset Firefox! I never pressed ENTER when the message appeared - do you think I should be?

  I know that my version of Windows has expired and I plan to update very soon, but do not want to lose all the vital files. So, I am currently the backup copies.

  Since we have not heard from you lately, I will go ahead and tell you how to fix your problem disabled Task Manager (and probably a few other things):

  Basically, when you see these errors, the usual advice is something in the sense of "something has been disabled in the group policy...". ", and it is probably true that something has been disabled, but you know what something is and what it takes to do about it.

  If you are using XP Home Edition, you will get away with advice to use the Group Policy Editor because there is no Group Policy Editor in XP Home and that advice really doesn't tell you where to look in group policy, even if you run the Group Policy Editor (unless it's really good advice).

  Basically, you need a complete solution that works for all versions of XP and requires no hunting around in the Group Policy Editor or registry to find where things are that may have been disabled.

  Unless you have disabled these things on purpose, chances are good that your system has a malware infection.  The malware knows what tools you use to try to find and remove (like Task Manager), the malware disables the things you tend to use and prevents them from running if you can't find the malware and remove it.

  If your system has this kind of affliction, all malicious software tools you currently use or have used failed to protect your system so that you can expand your horizons malware detection and prevention to prevent these kinds of afflictions in the first place.

  The malware will be happy you trick into thinking that you need to so something drastic to fix your system - as a facility repair, system restore point or a total reinstallation of XP.  This is what it would be like you, but these measures are not necessary.

  You must solve the immediate problem of the tools does not, then scan your system for malware when you are finished.

I called Olympus to ensure (an Olympus DS-330 recorder voice digital) device would be compatible with Windows 7 BEFORE buying the new computer for him. They assured me that "with version 7.1 of their new software it should be compatible. I was worried because the rep on the phone with me does not seem very confident in her answer and him using the word "should" is never a good thing.

  Sure enough I got the new Windows 7 computer running, installed the software, they told me to get their site, connected his player... The device has been recognized as connected BUT no driver could be found. Nothing I've tried the last hours won't work because there is simply no driver of Olympus or someone else to make this device work with Windows 7. To make matters worse I can't find a single digital voice recorder to buy for him online that IS compatible with Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit.

  The compatible ID confirms that it is not only a storage device, so it uses just the drivers supplied with Windows.  If this isn't a problem with Windows 7.  This is a problem in which the hardware vendor must be resolved.

  I searched online for the VID & PID and found only a few strokes on Bing.  None of them make no mention of 64-bit support.  And they are all pretty old.  I see dates pilot since 2001.

  So the best option is to contact Olympus again to see if they have drivers for Vista 64 bit or Windows 7 64 - bit for this device, or to confirm to you what devices ARE supported on 64-bit.

  Looks like the above driver package for their recorders VN series.  It seems to be relatively cheap - http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1389&fl=5&acccategory=84 (the VN5200 is still cheaper).

• Rename a folder with the character question mark (?) in the name of the file?

  The name of the folder in question has a format of "file name? This folder is on my external hard drive and was created when I've used OSX, which had the support of the character question mark (?). However, while trying to access the contents of the folder in Windows, I am welcomed with the error Although the file is inaccessible due to incorrect syntax. Whenever I try to move or rename it, I get the same error of incorrect filename syntax.

• R720 with H710P CacheCade Question

  Try to review my server to optimize the performance of the database. I have not used cachecade before and thought I would give it a whirl in my server to see if it helps the performance of the database. It is difficult to get a good reading on H710P cachecade information and most of the information that Dell released are overview of quite high level. I read that cachecade 2.0 is not available on the H710P but the Dell announcement talk to this topic was very old - is - this always true and only cachecade 1.1 is supported as a read-only cache?

  I had a hard time pinning the up-to-date information on SSD drives supported for use with cachecade. I ended up buying a couple PRO Samsung 850 128 GB disks that I read a few posts saying those worked well even if the information was not directly from Dell. Since it is read-only cachecade I guess that these should last long enough to make it worth it. Replacement of these would not be a problem if they wear. Don't know what kind of life to wait on these but without doubt it would be decent enough. SLC would be only a reasonable option if MLC drives break down quickly.

  The last unknown is how cachecade is applied to virtual devices. Is a global array of cachecaid for the full set of disks virtual or you have to associate it with a virtual disk? Specifically, I want to use this for my database server (Sybase ASE 15.7). Right now my guest Sybase is on a disc of 8 15 K SAS 300 GB RAID10 array. Performance is OK, but I would like to speed up data is critical for accessibility within a reasonable time of the access.

  This is global. There are very few options available when configuring cachecade. You can create, delete, or appoint a disk virtual cachecade. The rest of your questions should be answered in this article:

  There are two things to note in this article:
