DNS stops resolving ping IP address works

Hello

We run a Windows 2008 R2 domain functional and we have 3 Windows 2008 R2 domain controllers.

Recently, we noticed a number of users on our network has a problem with their machine and we believe that the question is associated DNS. A user will use the systems as usual and then randomly to sompoint during the day the user will not be able to resolve all DNS queries. On the users machine, we try to do a ping to a server by using DNS, SERVER01 or Server01.domain.com and you get impossible to connect to host, please be sure that the host is turned on and connected to the network. However if ping you the address IP of Server01 100.0.0.1 and you get the normal response of 100.0.0.1 message. The only way that we have ben able to solve this problem is to run an ipconfig enough and ipconfig / renew on the users ' computers.

I tried to search in newspapers on all our server and no errors are listed. We initially thought that this issue was related to the network, but we have two buildings that are physically connected and we had a number of users at both sites for reporting this issue. I went through the majority of patches DNS have been relased and they have all been installed or are not on our server.

Can anyone suggest other measures I can take to try to solve this problem?

Thank you

Sean

    How do you define the address 0? When I put my server Modbus slave address 0 in the communication parameters, it is by default to 1, so I am not able to change the address 0.

    In addition, the server does not work? What is happening and how do you know? Is there an error code, or what else is happening?

  • Cannot ping new addresses IP vmkernel

    I created a few exchanges of vmkernel iSCSI in new bond for our 10G storage on a new vSwitch but I can't ping the IP addresses assigned to them (10.1.45.187 and 188). I have the same setup on a different host and it works very well. I swapped the connections on the 10G switch with those of the host of work as well as cables, so I know it isn't a switch port, the switch config issue or the cable. I even swapped the IP with the work those just to make sure.

    But if I SSH to another host on the same network I can ping those IP vmkernal addresses I can't from my desktop. I can also ping vmkernel IP addresses on the host of my office work that is on the same subnet as the host of non-working. I cannot ping the vmkernel IPs of a host on a different subnet, but can ping ports vmkernel work of host to a host on another subnet.

    I don't know that it's just something simple that I'm missing... I hope!

    Hello

    How long have you used the laptop?
    Eventually the temperature inside the laptop could be responsible for these issues of freezing. A similar problem occurred on my laptop. He frisottés due to overheating.
    I just cleaned the fans and cooling grids modules with the vacuum cleaner and the problem disappeared.

    I think you should also check the cooling modules and try to clean it carefully.

    Hello

    Try the methods below and see if it can resolve the problem.

    Method 1:

    Reset TCP\IP [Transmission Control Protocol of Protocol\Internet]:

    To reset the stack TCP/IP go to this article and either click on "Fix it for me" or follow the instructions to fix it yourself:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/299357

    Method 2:

    Disable the IP helpdesk:

    (a) hold the Windows key and type R, type "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press enter

    (b) scroll down to the IP assistance service, right-click on it and select Properties.

    (c) in the area drop-down list that says "Autoc" or "Manual", set it to disabled and then click 'apply '.

    (d) then click on ""Stop " to stop the service from running in the current session"

    (e) click on OK to exit the dialog box

    Disable IPv6:

    Try to uninstall IPv6 on all interfaces, the removal of virtual cards of IPv6 and reset the TCP/IP stack.  To remove the IPv6, go to the properties for each network adapter, and deselect the check box next to the Protocol "Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6), which will turn off, or select it and click on uninstall which will remove off the computer."  Then go into Device Manager and remove any 4to6 adapters, adapters miniport WUN or tunnel adapters.

    NOTE:

    You should do this for each network connection.

    Disable the DHCP Broadcast Flag:

  • DNS stopped working after the latest Vista updates

    Yesterday my Vista Home Premium has been updated by Microsoft through the automatic update process. After the update and reboot network stopped working. I was able to trace this DNS no longer works. I was unable to solve the problem until I supported updates, after which the system returns to normal operation.

    Now, of course, updates want to be reinstalled, but I don't want the network to fail again. Any ideas?

    Change how to get updates:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial140.html

    Understand the Extras in Windows Vista and Windows Update info is at the link above.

    Right click on those you don't need > UAC prompt > it hide.

    Never install party hardware driver updates 3rd through Windows updates.

    Go to the manufacturer's website, instead.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Vista will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.
    Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.
  • Ping ip address ip doesn´t work if it has a zero 0
    Hello world. It must be said that doesn´t occur in other computers. I have Windows 7 with all updates.
    I have an application that uses mysql, and you can configure the ip address of the server in it. The ip address I need to input is 192.168.1.97, as I have a masekd, home 192.168.001.097 text box. But with the zeros, it work doesn´t (a few days ago it worked). So, I have run cmd and ping 192.168.1.97: it works perfectly. If I ping 192.168.001.97, it works perfectly. But if I ping 192.168.1.097 it doesn´t not at all, work doesn´t find the host. Why is this? 192.168.1.97 and 192.168.1.097 are the same!
    Thank you in advance.
    Hello. I didn t make changes. I posted it in this forum, let´s see what is happening. It's very strange.
  • SuperFetch, Client DNS stop working, blue screen blocks as well
    First stop, I have a desktop HP with Windows Vista Home Premium SP2. He was just out of nowhere an error about 2 weeks code would come and tell me one of these services has stopped working. It allows me to close or to find a solution online. This happens every day. It is very random; I don't see a reason for it. I have especially Windows Mail, IE8 and sometimes open Windows Media Player when these things occur.
    One thing I want to point out is that I did a diagnostic run on my computer and I got a BIOME-1 error code for my ram memory. All other material checks were very good. The computer is supposed to have 2 GB of ram, so is it possible if she works only on 1 GB etc... It is the cause of all my problems regarding windows applications crashing? Oh, also just about every day and sometimes more than once a day, I get the blue screen of death crash. I'm so confused, please help!
    I am up to date on all the Windows updates, so I have SP2 and all updates since then. I also use my service of update and HP as well to ensure that my drivers are working all day.
    Thank you
    Will be
    I put only 1 memory stick into the system and run the diagnotics. If it passes, take it out and plug the second stick and then re-run diagnosis. If it fails, get a new module or clean legs with an eraser to erase and blow your motherboard releasing sheep of dust (do not use compressed air can)
    What is your system model?
  • Cannot access a Web site, but can ping IP addresses on the internet
    -With the help of Vista SP2 64-bit on laptop faulty.
    -Number of computers on the same network have access to the internet.
    -Tried several network interfaces on this laptop, but no luck for access to the network, wired or wireless
    -From this notebook, I can ping addresses Internet IP so the problem seems to be the side DNS.
    -Flushing DNS cache and reset the network interface.
    -Rebooted several times.
    What did I miss?
    Thanks in advance
    Hey easternguy,.
    Check if you can test the Web site by name.
    To do this:
    a. Click Start and type cmd.
    b. press ENTER.
    c. type the following command:
    ping hostname
    Ping uses name resolution to resolve a computer by IP address name. Therefore, if you successfully ping the IP address but you cannot ping a computer name, there is a problem with host name resolution, and no network connectivity.
    Case 1: If you can not ping the Web site using its address, follow these steps.
    In this case, try changing your host file.
    In the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc Hosts files may be damaged or corrupted.
    Review the contents of your HOSTS file and compare it to the screenshot below. There is no need to worry about any line that starts with a # is ignored by Windows. In addition, the line "127.0.0.1 localhost" can be ignored without risk, because it is a standard input.
    Everything that appears in your HOSTS file without a # earlier this year, aside from the "127.0.0.1 localhost" line, should be regarded with suspicion when we try to diagnose the cause of the problem. The fastest way to test the involvement of HOSTS file is to just rename the host file. By changing the name of the HOSTS file, prevent us Internet Explorer to use it and so all problems caused by the file.
    Case 2:
    If you can ping external websites by IP address and name, but can't browse the web, probably your browser is misconfigured.
    Check that you do not have an incorrect Proxy Server affected necessary or not.
    For Internet Explorer, follow these steps.
    a. open Internet Explorer.
    b. go to Tools / Internet Options.
    c. click on the Connections tab.
    d. click the LAN Settings button.
    "e. uncheck both" "automatically detect settings" and "use a proxy server for your LAN '.
    This should be it.
  • Bootstrap information is not impossible to resolve the IP address.
    Cannot resolve the 10.xxx.x.xx of IP address for the domain name FULL on the node testpd-ComputeMaster-0. To deploy Hadoop 2.x server DNS must set forward / reverse FULL/IP domain name resolution.
    If they are all using IP addresses, why not?  All the guests created the ping.
    I don't really know how to have the names hung in DNS during the build.
    Any ideas?  Thank you.
    Hi Nancy,.
    If it is not able or not convinient to configure the resolution of domain name FULL/IP on the DNS server, here is a solution to your testing needs.
    1. turn on the VM hadoop-model under BDE. VAPP.
    2 Add entries as «10.0.0.1 hadoop001.domain.com ...» 10.0.0.xyz hadoopXYZ.domain.com' in/etc/hosts. As a result, Hadoop will be search FQDN in/etc/hosts instead of the DNS server.
    Note:. When you modify the hadoop-template, you must follow "maintain a custom virtual computer model Hadoop" pubs.vmware.com... 74B8C10F1C.html . After turning off the hadoop-model, don't forget to restart the tomcat server BDE server.
  • How to access server dns on a photosmart 7510 address to set the address of my router?
    My father has just got a photosmart 7510.  I have a trendnet wireless router, which has a few computers connected wirelessly.  To get these to connect, I had to modify the IPv4 settings to set the default gateway and dns server addresses main address of my router. On the printer, I can find where to enter the default gateway, but NOT the primary dns server.  Printing of network configuration settings shows the dns backend as 0.0.0.0, as is the case, the router gave the printer MAC address, but they cannot talk to each other on IP and of setting up the PC on the network, I know that it won't work correctly together w/that.
    Where in the printer configuration menus this value is located so I can put it?
    Oh, OK.  We should perhaps solve the problem of connection to the router, get the printer connected to it with a DHCP address, then go to the printer web page and tweak it.
    -Reboot the router by removing the power momentarily.
    -Change the channel to 11 router and make sure that you use WPA or WPA2
    -On the printer to go wireless > restore network keybord.
    -In the same network menu, run the Wireless Setup Wizard.
    The printer must be connected to the router, then you should be able to access it via its IP address.
  • My local network works, but why I can't ping? LAN works but not internet. A simple quest to the Jedi.
    Hi all!
    I have weird problem and I hope some of you can enlighten us if necessary.
    The background:
    My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2.   One day, I installed an application proxy - ProxyCap - as a free trial for 30 days.  The application installed a few dll Winsock provider.  After the 30 day trial, I uninstalled the app.  Then the problems started.  Even if the application proxy has been disabled, regular internet links have been completely normal and not affected.  It was only after uninstalling the app that I have problems.
    The problem:
    • The computer is unable to connect one more to any website using the browser.
    • My local network seems to be fully functional, which involves a problem of setting the software.  I say that my LAN is functional if I am going to sign--> Network and Sharing Center--> view status and look under the "Activity" section, I see the link send and receive packets without problem.
    • If I go into control panel of--> Network and Sharing Center--> view status of--> diagnosis, I get the message: "cannot communicate with DNS Server (xxx.xx.xxx.xxx) Network Diagnostics ping to the remote host, but has not received a response."
    • Indeed, if go to start--> cmd and ping my DNS server, I get a general failure for all 4 packets sent.
    • However, I am able to ping my localhost to 127.0.0.1
    My settings:
    • My ipconfig/all output: http://pastebin.com/Ksn2k2ja
    • DHCP is enabled.
    • For the properties of connection LAN--> Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)--> properties, I 'IP automatically get an address' and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" selected.
    • The same goes for--> Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)--> properties.
    • The Sysinternal autoruns--> tab providers Winsock application, tells me that I have the "Hello Namespace Provider' active as a WinSock2 registry entry. It is mdnsNSP.dll and published by Apple Inc..  Who was present before installation of the proxy, and this is for iTunes.  Screenshot: http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag86/applemeetworm/winsock_zpsb41ca872.jpg
    What I tried:
    • I tried to reset Winsock for Vista by clicking Start--> cmd and type netsh winsock reset , and restart the computer.
    • I tried to reset the TCP/IP stack by clicking Start--> cmd and type netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt and restart the computer.
    • Restart my router.
    • Deactivation and activation then my connection to the local network.
    Thank you all for helping me with my problem.  I would be happy to provide more information as needed.  Thanks for the research and thanks offering solutions.
    See you soon!
    Hi all!
    I contacted ProxyCap and support staff has been able to solve the problem.
    Apparently, one of my entries in registry Winsock2 (Winsock2, Namespace Catalog5, 5 catalog entries) has been disabled somehow, uninstalling or in my first attempts to address issues after uninstall.
    Thanks to ProxyCap and for other people who have tried to help.
    ~ Congratulations ~.
  • Windows 7 cannot resolve the ip addresses of domain names
    I have a desktop computer that I built components purchased in a major computer store.  I got this system works well for several months, now.  Recently, however, I met a problem with one of the modules of memory of 2 GB.  I deleted (because it turned out to be defective) and, shortly AFTER his withdrawal, have another problem with the resolution of Internet domain name.  I have to say that I also installed my old Windows XP as an alternative OS and updated to sp3 (it is, in fact, that I use to access the internet and write this query).  As you can see, XP I have no problem with internet access or name resolution.  There are two other systems connected to the home network via wi - fi (one equipped with Windows Vista and the other a tablet PC running Windows XP Tablet Edition) and none of them have no access to the internet problem.  I ran ipconfig/release and / renew without any result.
    I did all the following: netsh winsock reset catalog
    netsh int ip reset reset.log
    netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log.
    Still no access.
    I opened regedit and went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters and set the following registry value:
    Value name: IPEnableRouter
    Value type: REG_DWORD
    Value data: 1 (this is the only value I changed - from 0 to 1)
    I then exit regedit and reboot... still no access.  BTW: I noticed now that this entry (IPEnableRouter), nor any of its values, is no longer even exist in my registry.  I think it has something to do with my changing parameters of Cisco Linksys E1000 router to allow me access to my home network.  In addition, even if she says that I'm connected to my home network and the router, I don't see two other computers in the network, only the items that I share my desktop.
    I changed the "Preferred DNS server" to 208.67.222.222 as instructed in a possible solution I found on the web (in XP, of course) and, when it does not, changed to 208.67.220.220 instructions, but no.  Still nothing.
    I can access any Web site... IF I KNOW THE IP ADDRESS!  Unfortunately, my mind is not enough powerful or with enough RAM to remind all the IP addresses that I never go, not to mention every single IP address in the internet.
    If I had remembered to I have copied to Notepad (so I could then copy here) the results of an ipconfig/all command, but I didn't.  If this will help, let me know and I'll get it and post it.  I know that some errors I have received are 'Windows could not automatically detect the network proxy settings"and"registration of the DNS records failed.  The parameter is incorrect"and" an error occurred during the liberation interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1: the system cannot find the specified file. "
    Some of the results of an ipconfig/command all, I write down, such as those that came out as strange or maybe wrong.  They are as follows:
    Active IP routing: NO
    WINS proxy enabled: NO
    Host name: (empty)
    Suffix primary DNS: (empty)
    Node type: hybrid
    DNS suffix search list: News:[email protected] (Yes, I use Road Runner by Time Warner, and no, they were not able to help at all)
    Other results:
    ISATAP.KC.RR.com tunnel adapter
    State of the media: Media disconnected
    Card tunnel Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
    State of the media: Media disconnected
    Please keep in mind that all computers connected to this wireless router have no problem with access to the internet and this computer can access in Windows XP but not Windows 7.  In other words, is there anything wrong with the router and nothing wrong with the wireless network adapter.  Besides, I tried to reboot the router and even resetting (much to the chagrin of my other significant because she was not happy with not being able to access the internet until I was finally able to re - install the router)
    !).  I have also turned off my system, removed the card wireless adapter, waited for about 15 minutes, re-inserted in the PCI slot and return to market the system.  This, of course, did nothing, either.
    After the search for several days and trying various tactics and bugs as suggested all over the web, I'm at the end of my limited knowledge and patience with this problem.  Any help that will solve this problem and allow my Windows 7 to access, once again, the internet would be greatly appreciated.  As a last resort, I might have to re - install Windows 7, but I also read the posts where others have done so, but nothing helped. :(
    In fact, I have since fixed my problem.  Believe it or not, it wasn't any major and detailed process.  It was a very simple thing that NONE of the resolutions on that I read even suggested might be the cause, so I don't even think to check it out.  Apparently, at any given time a week ago, or NAME of the COMPUTER, something erased my!  I forgot how I found this, but I think that I went to my device manager by double-clicking on the icon "Computer" and select 'Properties' and happened to notice that, under 'Settings of computer name, domain, and workgroup', the ' computer name: "and" full computer name: "fields were empty!
    SO, I clicked on 'Advanced system settings' on the left of the window properties, select the "computer name" tab (1st one at the top left of the window that has popped up) and down to "to rename this computer, click on change." I clicked on the button 'change... '. ».
    In the next window which displayed I got the name I initially chose for my desktop, clicked the button "More"... ' and 'News:[email protected]' in the ' suffix main DNS on this computer: "on the ground (as is my Internet service provider - others may be different) and ensured that the box"Change the suffix main DNS when the domain membership changes"has been checked.
    Then, I clicked OK on this window.  I then made sure that the "Working Group:" radio button was selected and typed "WORKGROUP" in the field below, then click 'OK '.
    Return to the window' system properties 'original, I clicked 'Apply' and 'OK' and then restarted my system.
    Windows 7 being loading, all of a sudden all these programs that were inactive for the past few days began to appear and load and update!  YAY! Laughing out loud
    So, the reason I went into detail about how I solved it is in case anyone else has this same problem, they can check and, if the computer name has also been deleted, follow these steps to correct the problem. Of course, you will need to contact your service provider (if other than the Road Runner by Time Warner) in order to obtain the primary DNS suffix.  I hope this will help others I do not go through the terror I lived not having access to the internet.  Aaaaarrrrggghh!  I MUST have my internet! LMAO
