Do I did wrong on Satellite L40 BIOS update?

I had a few software Toshiba some time ago (don't remember the name) he told me that there was a new BIOS for my 18R - L40 PSL48E, the latest version is
17/06/08 a number there is 20080617131309 I tried to install it by clicking on update of the BIOS after extracting it, tried without extract it to a temporary folder
and to extract it to a temporary folder, that past every time I click on updatebios, it is that my laptop restarts erasing the old bios and change with the one I downloaded,
but my problem is that the version I have on my computer (using system information Auslogic) is a BIOS of 05/14/08 (not the newest) number is 5000814 08 worm: V2.00 I downloaded the bios from

HERE

Do I did wrong to try to update my BIOS? I have slow restart and stop the witch, I might well be more quickly after BIIOS update (this is the delay before my computer begins to restart or shut down it's my problem)

Hello

At the moment the European driver Toshiba page provides update BIOS v2.00 Win Vista 32 bit.
It seems that the BIOS was transferred to 17/06/08 and it's the most recent!

If you want to update, you will need to extract first on a HARD drive. Then run the UpdateBIOS file.
If it will not start the BISO update then try the WinFlash file.

However, AFAIK one of these two files a new update of the BIOS file must be created and then you could start again on UpdateBIOS or WinFlash files.

Good bye

    Hello

I have a pretty annoying problem with my new laptop (Satellite L40 18W - model PSL4CE). Whenever I boot, I get

    > PCI: BIOS Bug: e0000000 MCFG area isn't just E820

Same with BIOS 1.8 and 1.9 versions of kernel 2.6.24.2 and 2.6.25

Any way to solve this problem?

    Thank you!

If I understand correctly you have a PSL4CE model and that you also use the Vista. Am I wrong?

Did you choose the good BIOS series Sam L40 PSL4CE tree?

How have you tried to perform the update?

I see that you posted this in the field of Linux so perhaps you use Linux on your laptop?

Please note; the update of the BIOS can be performed only from the Microsoft System!

  • Satellite Pro L40: Bios update not necessary - no settings for RAM in Bios 1.90

Hi, I just bought a Satellite Pro L40 laptop and im trying to figure out why the bios has no parameter memory.
If I look at the ram using a tool of information system (cpuz or aida320), it shows she doesn't move at the speed of 667 mhz but at 533 mhz.

As you can see from this screenshot the memory runs at the real speed is less than the maximum that the sticks have a rated power.

    http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/4580/cpuz1pj5.jpg

Its running at 266 mhz (533 mhz ddr) where it should be run at 333 mhz (667 mhz ddr).

I also noticed that with this laptop fan never seems to come, is it possible to mount the fan?
Whenever I have the laptop for more than 30 minutes, it becomes very hot.

    Hello

    > if I look at the ram using a tool of information system (cpuz or aida320) it shows that it does not run at the speed of 667 mhz but at 533 mhz.

    What is your FSB?
If the laptop was equipped with memory PC2-5300 modules then they could run at 667 MHz, but only if the FSB would supports 667 MHz! I think is supported by the FSB of 533 Mhz.
So I can't say it s nothing wrong!

    > I just bought a Satellite Pro L40 laptop and im trying to figure out why the bios has no parameter memory.
Why do you think a BIOS update would turn the memory settings in the BIOS?
Please don t mix of desktop computers laptops! Laptops cannot be overclocked.
BIOS of laptop computers is not the same thing as a desktop PC BIOS!

    > I also noticed that with this computer laptop fan never seems to come, is there a way to turn the fan to the top? Whenever I have the laptop for more than 30 minutes, it becomes very hot.
Have you noticed all automatically turn off downs or any other strange behaviors laptop as freezing OS for example?
If it is then that the laptop runs correctly and doesn't overheat.
Books to support thermal protection which would be closed the laptop automatically to avoid equipment damage

Then lean back man and enjoy your nice toy ;)

    Hi year - Dr.Zej.

You want to make this method of crisis? In the worst case, you could destroy the motherboard together and this procedure isn't so easy. In your case I don't this

  • Satellite A100 BIOS update - BAD CHECKSUM

I've just updated my BIOS to version 6.0 that TOSHIBA said > 26/11/07 "this Bios update adds functionality to your system: Satellite A100 Toshiba 6, 00 - WIN (PSAAN).»

    My original BIOS was 5.9
My computer works fine A100-33 but when my computer restarts, showed it to the BLACK screen.

I noticed that it displays BAD CHECKSUM and suugested I select default BIOS but I * ignored this advice * that wanted this new Version of the BIOS.

What means BAD CHECKSUM and what effects will have on my computer peformance please if any?

Under the system information that is displayed for my BIOS Version/Date Phoenix Technologies LTD 6.00, 07/12/2007

Name of the Microsoft OS? ® Windows Vista Home Basic

    Hello

Don t worry if the message "bad checksum" will appear only once.

'Bad checksum' means that the BIOS has been changed, rewritten or settings have been restored by default. Thus, whenever you save your bios settings, bios made a "checksum" to check the next time you start the settings were stored and all goes well. If something is wrong or has been changed, then the checksum stored since the last save a Don t match real new generated checksum.

So if you make an update of the bios, all your settings will be modified logic - you get an error "Bad Checksum".

Another reason for such "Bad Checksum" is an empty BIOS stack or a malfunction, so BIOS cannot keep it s settings and you will get every time you start the computer a message "Bad Checksum".

    Hello

  • Satellite 110CS BIOS update diskette

Hi, I have an old Toshiba Satellite 110CS and when I have it lit three days ago, I get a blank screen with a prompt to insert a disk in the BIOS update.
I do not know what file to download on your site for the 110CS
    -is "s1110 - 150trad.zip" for s1110 - 150.exe?

    Hello

I don't think it's the update of the correct BIOS for your laptop. It is very important that search you updates the BIOS under the "archived" category where you will find a specific update for Satellite 110CS for BIOS version 5.20.

For access to this simply click on Support and downloads-> update your BIOS

then in her-> product Type, select the appropriate boxes of files, family-> series of Satellite products - Archive-> Satellite 1XX, model-> Satellite 110

This produces the download BIOS version 5.20

  • Satellite A10 BIOS update needed!

Hey guys, my Satellite A10 guard restart whenever I stopped him. I talked to my friend and he said there's a BIOS problem, and I should be updated. So I downloaded the latest version of Toshiba and run it. It told me to insert a disk. This wouldn't be a problem but my A10 is not a floppy drive then how am I ment to upgrade the BIOS of my computer without a floppy drive?

    Hello

For your model of laptop ago just traditional BIOS update and you need a USB FDD for it. In my opinion, you can check on ebay or somewhere there FDD cheaply or you can contact the Service partner.

It takes about 10 minutes for the BIOS update, and you can do it alone. It is very easy. As I said, check if you can find a used floppy drive. It cannot be expensive.

Also, you can borrow one from your dealer or your business!

  • Satellite A200 - BIOS update and fan activity

    Hello..

I have the Satellite A200-1AH (PSAE6E). I have installed the version of the BIOS 2.10 update and electric fans started working out loud. I want to install v1.30 BIOS (the best for me) but I can't find it anywhere. Can you help me please?

I noticed that Toshiba has updated versions of BIOS 4 times in 4 months. So does that mean? I want to have the mobile rear silencer

I guess the Toshiba engineers have changed some values in the new BIOS update and thereby you have noticed this problem of fan. I think they have a few reasons for this.

If you want to have the old version of the BIOS, you should try to contact authorized service provider in your country. They should have.

    HI ifw,.

Can you post more information about this behavior? What version of BIOS you are using at the moment and what BIOS update you try exactly?

BIOS update requires administrator privileges, so you must run the update as an administrator. Also unzip all the files to zip archive before you start the update.

May I ask * why * you want to update the BIOS?

  • Satellite L750 - BIOS update failed with error check

    Hello

Update the BIOS to the L750 failled with an ERROR "CHECK". I downloaded the update to the BIOS again and got the same error.

I wanted to submit a support ticket to do support technical namely that the BIOS update does not work, but low and behold, the creator of support ticket does not accept my model number/number combination.

Thus, apart from picking up the phone, how can I get a message to Toshiba?

    See you soon

    Hey Buddy,

May I ask why you are trying to update the BIOS? Do you have questions?

As you probably know updated BIOS is always somewhat risky because it rewrites the ROM module and if anything goes not the ROM module can be destroyed and you are not able to start the computer. So this update should be made only if you have problems with the computer, otherwise forget it please.

Remember: never touch a running system! ;)

  • Satellite L40 - BIOS - the external monitor connection preferences

    Hello!
I have some problems with the external monitor (CRT) connection for laptop L40 - 17O (PSL4CE).
Matrix on it is broken. There is no windows installed.
I connect external monitor, but I don't see anything. I heard that it is necessary to change something in the BIOS, but it's hard to do that without image =)
Would be great if someone who has the same note would say what button to press to enter the BIOS and change the options in this way. Or perhaps someone could take a snapshot of the bios and its options.
I'm looking forward to see answers)

Normally it should be an option in the BIOS where you can choose, if it isn't the internal LCD screen, or both or is automatically activated after connecting a display to the machine.

Under Windows, the combination FN + F5 does exactly what you need: it goes from the screen.

Could you please check your BIOS and attention to the options in the form? I guess that basic finding. :)

    Welcome them
