Recently, I have updated Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional.  I used it for a few months and I noticed that when I try to download anything on the Microsoft site, it takes me to a page that looks like this:

Oops! This link seems broken. Suggestions:

What I was trying to download is Direct X (later).  Currently, I use Google Chrome as my default browser.  I don't know why it won't let me download anything.  Can anyone help?

Hello

Have you tried to download through Internet Explorer?

In case, if you receive the error message when you try to download it from Internet Explorer, try the following steps:
* Launch Internet Explore Mode Add on no and check if that helps.
How to optimize Internet Explorer.

The problem persists with the Chrome browser, so that the issue could be with corrupt Domain Name Server.
1. click Start and select run.
2. type cmd and press ENTER.
3. type ipconfig/flushdns and press ENTER.
You should get a message that says: properly emptied the Cache of DNS resolution.
The ipconfig/flushdns command provides you with a way to clear and reset the contents of the cache of DNS client resolution.

Let me know if this helps.
