  If you buy the perpeptual license it would be specific OS, in this case, you would have to buy 2 separate license however if you go for the creative cloud then in this case it would be OS independent, you can install with cloud 2 or creative on 2 Windows Mac or windows 1 and 1 Mac.

  The license is valid for a single user.  You can install on any number of machines, signed in only two at a time and only use one at a time.

  You must go to help > Sign In (or disconnection) since the first Elements and Photoshop elements Editor menus for to connect (or rear).

  I have been in contact with Support from Adobe, which has been very helpful. I have now installed LR4 (4.4) on my laptop. As I had upgraded to LR3 LR4, I needed two serial numbers. Of course, which was no problem because I had kept the emails. They are also available on my account on adobe.com.

  I didn't ask the person supported on deactivation, but if I understand correctly, I should somehow disable the LR4 license on the stand-alone version before installing Windows 8 on this computer. (LR4 and other applications of course will have to be installed after a fresh install of the OS).

  If your XP CD is a true operating system CD and not a recovery CD AND it is for the same exact version of Windows installed on the computer of your friend (Home/Pro/Media Center) then you can use it to reinstall Windows and use its product key. Then you go to the website of HP and download/install all drivers and utilities from his computer. If your XP CD is a CD recovery or a different version of Windows, you can not use it. In any case, it would be best to contact HP and purchase replacement for his computer recovery media. It is usually very cheap, ~ $25-30.
