Drive a VMware EXSi

Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to remotely control a virtual server EXSi?

I want to perform actions such as start/stop/resume and especially back to a snapshot.

The idea is to integrate this action in a continuous integration environment. It is necessary to provide for a procedure to compile, test, build software. At the end I should restore the snapshot of the virtual server to its original state.

Does anyone know if there is a MAVEN plugin for this job?

Thanks in advance.

  • Port Trunk on Vmware EXSi 5?

    Hello

We have vShpere Essentials more here with EXSi 5. I want to trunk 4 times of the network ports for each host. Then on Vmware, we can choose what VLAN belongs to the Virtual Machine.

I think I know how to configure the Cisco switch. Series 4 ports in a trunk and puts all 4 ports in a channel group. I don't know how to configure Vmware. Someone has links to blogs with guides step by step please?

    Yes, that's correct.

It is recommended to configure the portfast too.

  • Boot from USB devices or local drives in VMWare

I have a 4 Gb WinXP SP3 bootable USB Thumb Drive and wanted to try to boot into VMWare Workstation 7. I can add it to the readers of VMWare, and its listed connected between removable devices, when a virtual machine starts, but he won't start him, just goes straight to a CD ISO (if connected) or a network (which is not available) boot disk. In VMWare machine BIOS there is no option key USB Boot-Portable devices, and it is not listed among the drives in the BIOS. Despite I can boot from it on a real PC from USB HD. Which can be a problem and how to fix it?

VMware does not support starting directly from USB devices.

    Hello

Looks like you experience a hardware failure on your SATA drive.

A CRC error only usually comes up when there is some property damage, not saying not that he can't be anything else, but most likely your drive is running out and I would like to make a backup of everything of value on this drive of 500 GB special as soon as possible.

As for the ESX VM, I suspect it will work fine when you try to install it on another disk.

    Hope this helps,

  • I have 2 drives in VMware Fusion showing

Hi LL! As you say, I'm a Newbie on Mac. I am on Mac OS x Leopard and had to score because my account program does not come under Mac. Fusion is ideal for the gain of startup time and re-start in and out of Windows & Mac, so after that purchase version 2 and install it, I received notification that the 2.0.1 version was available so I downloaded this upgrade. The problem is that I now have 2 VMware Fusion drives that appear on my system (Version 2.0) and Version 2.0.1 the merger shows application Version 2.0.

I had to uninstall version 2.0 before you download the new version? Or can I remove one of the disks that shows? I searched this error, but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone help?

It seems that what you're saying, is that you put together two different versions of Fusion .dmg file to Disk Image you downloaded and now on your desktop, you will need icons who say VMware Fusion.

VMware Fusion will not properly install if you set up two different versions of Fusion .dmg file to Disk Image at the same time that my suggestion will be to ctrl - click on each icon and select eject "VMware Fusion" and back up only the last and then install that.

  • Can not see 1 TB Sata Drive in VMWare ESXi 5.1

    Hello.

I have a HP ML350 G6 server which currently has two RAID 1 arrays. The first table consists of two 300 GIG forms large factor readers and the second table consists of two 450 GIG disks.

I just added a single SATA 1 TB drive on the server but I do not see it in my client of ESXi. Is what I'm trying to do possible? I can add a disk of 1 TB to this mixture, or maybe I need to delete one of the tables or in a control card memory cache? I'm working on a ML350 G8 at home and I have three paintings on it but not able to create the third table without a controller card cache for the controller smart array P420i. I wonder if this is the case here.

I have attached a screenshot of my storage and what I see when I try to add a data store.

    Am I missing something here?

Thanks for any help or comments.

Haven't you set up the new HARD drive on the RAID (e.g. as a JBOD) controller, which is presenting as a logical volume to ESXi?

I just need the assurance that it's safe swap a failed drive in a RAID 5 array on a physical server supported hot when it runs always ESXi 4.1 without having to shut it down.

    Hello

Yes, it is safe to remove if your controller supports hot, your ESXi has nothing to support because your RAID controller is responsible to rebuild your RAID disk faulty no ESXi.

  • VMware Workstation 10 bug: DVD SATA drive does not start if we disable the floppy drive in the VMware BIOS

    Hello

I use VMware Workstation 10, and I found a bug:

With the all-new virtual machine (for example with Windows 8 x 64), if I choose a hard SATA and SATA DVD drive in VMware and I have to disable the floppy drive in the VMware BIOS, Windows 8 (or Windows 7) ISO does not start.

If I come back in the BIOS to enable the floppy drive once again, my ISO boot.

If I use the DVD IDE drive in VMware options, no problem if I disable the floppy drive.

    With "EFI mode", no bugs.

Please, can you solve this problem? Thank you

  • Which QLOGIC FC driver apply? By VMware or Qlogic?

i´d as know what version of driver its best to apply in my VMware 4.0 UP1.

In HCL, I found this information:

    ESX / ESXi 4.0 U1qla2xxx version 821.k1.43vmwInbox

    And in the qlogic website:

    CF-FCoE (x 86 / x 64) 841.k1.16.2 - 1vmw FC-FCoE driver for VMware ESX/ESXi 4.0.x and 4.1.

Now my question is, what driver is better to apply?

Here I have a problem with my SAN, and I need to update all the drivers, firmwares.

    Thank you

Unless versions (3.x or 4.x) host is compatible with the storage systems, then Yes, converter or export/iport as OVF would be an option. Instead of converter, you can also consider using a tool like of Veeam FastSCP to simply copy the virtual machine files, this way the UUID and the MAC addresses of the virtual machine would remain unchanged.

  • CD/DVD drive will not appear on VMWare Fusion.

Recently I have not been able to use the CD/DVD-ROM drive on vmware fusion. I try to connect the physical device by clicking on the image of the CD rom at the bottom right, select Connect by car, but when I put in a CD, nothing happens.

When I go into "My computer" the drive icon is not present.

I tried all settings in Fusion as changes (move to "Reader of CD/DVD physical specify" instead of "Automatically detect physical CD/DVD drive") but still no luck.

I can't find any help on this issue. Help, please.

    Hello

I installed VMware EXSi 5.0 and now, I'm trying to install VMware image VMWare with BSD and already implemented-DummyNet in place (I got the file from this http://codefromthe70s.org/dummynet.aspxblog).

    I followed these steps:

    1. create a new virtual machine

With the operating system invited: Free BSD (64-bit)

    2. go to the data to Configuration/Storage/travel store and download the file (image VMWare with BSD and DummyNet) already implemented - FreeBSDDisk.vmdk

    Images_storage.jpg

    3. right click on the virtual machine and change the settings

    4. choose the 1 CD/DVD drive

5 locate the ISO data store file

    Storage_file.jpg

    6. connect a power on

At the end of installation, I got this error:

Please, someone knows what's going on?

Thanks a lot for your help.

The file you have a vmdk or VHD, not a CDrom ISO.

When you create your virtual computer, on the hard disk configuration, should have selected "Use an existing virtual disk" rather than create a new one.

You can still do this now, by removing the hard disk already present in your virtual machine and adding a new.

For the new disc, select the option 'Use current' and browse the data store for your downloaded vmdk.

It is best to remove the old drive, close the "Edit settings" to apply the change, reopen "change settings" and add the new disk.

This way you are sure that the new drive is added with 0,0 SCSI id and becomes the first disk of your virtual computer.

But that VMDK file is probably not ESX (i) compatible.

If it is a single file, it is intended for workstation or player, not vSphere.

You can convert it to a format compatible with the command, vmkfstools (on the local or remote shell, or remote cli ESXi).

Another option to convert, is to create a virtual machine in Vmware player, using your VMDK and then use the free standalone Vmware Converter to migrate you ESXi host.
