  Although Adobe indicates that you install the application on the main drive, it is possible to change the destination of the installation of creative cloud app preferences. Please note that there will always be shared resources stored on your primary drive.  In addition, temporary files will be created on your main drive during the installation process. The Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application will remain on the default drive. If you have already installed the application, you must uninstall, change the destination drive, reboot the machine and then install the application.

Files can be moved to the other hard drive. The ext drive works OK on the 8700 for more than a year.

  edit -- found the reason - USB Mass Storage Device has the error -previous instance... still in memory. Any suggestions? Uninstalling and restarting does not help. Diagnostic tests were all very well.

  The fixed! This was caused by Pépin of the history of the files. (I hate file history) I opened Device Mgr, selected hidden devices and found an old entry of WD ext hard drive and deleted. Historical files should be disabled before changing anything. because it gave me errors on the disc Toshiba not found or not connected. I had disabled the USB storage device and had to re - activate. This requires a reboot, and the Toshiba external drive is now active and functional.

  I am leaving the history of files and make manual backups instead.

  Yes, this may be caused by the fact, there is not enough power provided by the USB port. first of all, note that external USB hard drives 3.5 inches are generally designed to be used with systems of office due to their higher power needs (this is also the reason that many need an external power supply of their own). my suggestion would be to buy a 2.5 inch drive external hard USB is designed to be used with laptops. Another reason that the hard drive may disappear when copying files, is that there may be a problem with the connection of the USB cable between the laptop and the external HARD drive.   If F9 does not run the diagnostic, then most likely to replace the hard drive.  Once the new drive in place, start the recovery DVD series that was made when the PC was new.  If you do not make them, or they are lost, order a new set of HP.

  If you were able to encrypt it using the built-in OS x software, Windows would not be able to decipher. If you use a Windows build-in encryption software, OS X would not be able to decipher.

  You have to find a 3rd party package that works on BOTH OS X and Windows, which can encrypt and decrypt on both platforms.

  In the past, I would have done TruCrypt, however, he was abandoned by unknown original authors, but there have been a few replacements based on the original source of TruCrypt.  Try googling 'TruCrypt Alternatives' and you might find something where they support the OS X and Windows.

  Otherwise, you will need to find another cross platform encryption package.

  You can check if the drive is detected in the BIOS, but will not all SATA configuration option in the BIOS.

  I suggest you to download the SATA drivers on the Sony site on a flash drive and load it during the installation.

  After that you start from the vista DVD, follow the instructions on the screen to install vista. You will see a screen where you choose the partition to install vista. You will find an option to load a driver on the same screen to the bottom of the left hand of the window.

  Click load a driver > Browse to the location of the drivers and start installing the drivers.

And if you have files bigger than 4 GB it will be problems with these as FAT32 does not support that. exFAT supports, but I didn't know of any tool that can convert NTFS to exFAT without wiping the drive.
