Drive not ready. Have you ever seen this happen before?

I'm new to vmware and I have installled just vmware tools for I can have a full screen. Now whenever I'm starting my Ubuntu VM (my only), I get this message:

"Tvmware - vmx.exe - drive not ready".

The drive is not ready for use; its doors can be opened. Please check the A: drive and make sure that a disk is inserted and that the door is closed. »

I can click on Cancel, Try Again or continue. Each option takes me to the same place, namely my Ubuntu vm... It is not cause real problems I know. It is more an annoyance.

So has anyone seen that happen before or know how to fix? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the community,

Take a look at the virtual machine settings and disconnect the virtual disk. If this does not resolve the problem, please provide the latest vmware.log file of the virtual machine file. Maybe this can help.

  • Whenever I play a game explore HARD drive go all wacky. Never seen this problem before today.

This NEVER happened before a few days ago. Don't know exactly when that I didn't play for a few days. I could alt tab off games, whenever I wanted to before that without any problems whatsoever.

Explorer keeps jumping from memory use normal and low of 10 MB and 30 MB, to the use of 500 MB, 1 GB, and slightly above, the use of half of my ram to 2 GB. Explorer goes from normal to that in a moment, when this occurs. That cannot be good. I just noticed that this happens when you do something more intensive you use Firefox or playing a video. First of all, I thought it was just when I alt tab out of any game, Mass Effect 2 in particular right now. When I alt label off ME2 it takes a few minutes for the drive to stop thrashing and to explore to stop using as much ram. Also, everything goes very very slow, virtually frozen since a few minutes. But I also tried a much much much less intensive game (Halo 1) and the same thing happens, it stops just less than a minute. It shouldn't happen even for a few seconds.

I just downgrade my GPU driver to see if he'll fix it (did not help) and I noticed the Explorer do the thing of the use of huge ram for a few seconds during the driver installation. That is how I know that it is not just about games as I thought initially. Also after I alt tab out ME2 after that I'm able to do things again once my HDD will always continue to do things for more than a few minutes. I watched the resource monitor to see which accesses the HARD drive. It seems to access many things unnecessarily. I have screenshots of the resource manager of the monitor and the task during the activity. Look at ways out of whack to me. If you need I can post a hijack this log journal and combofix.

Choose the writeback and see if that helps, don't know if it'll work or not, but it may be useful...

Looks like just a problem that I had where the computer seemed a little slow performance and could not find a reason any for her.

Note: it is not recommended to have more than 20 MB of data on the desktop, you can have shortcuts for each file, however there should be no large files or executables stored on the desktop, as the computer reads the contents from the desktop to the start so that it starts before your home screen appears.

Ensure that there is no floppy disk in the floppy drive if equipped and no CD/DVD in the CD/DVD drive but it looks like a hard drive failure.

When you turn on the computer you hear the spin drive upward? (remove the cover from the computer, but do not touch anything inside).  If it is not rotating until power off (hold power button down until it stops.)

Pull out the power cord from the computer, touch the metal casing of the computer and (assuming a type IDE disk) can detach and reattach the power cord 4 son to drive.  Also carefully Disconnect the Ribbon data cable and attach again carefully.  Make sure that the Ribbon on the motherboard connector is also firmly committed.

Connect the computer again and the power up.  Drive spinning up to now?  Lol bad disc.  Hope you have a backup.  Turning to the top but still the same message?  Hope you have a backup.  Take the computer with all the disks for computers and a reputable Studio programs (big box stores are not trustworthy) repair and hope that they can get down your data and rebuild the machine.
  • If I do are on back to the PS from LR, use original edit, my LR are not displayed.  Has anyone seen this?

If I do are on back to the PS from LR, use original edit, my LR are not displayed.  Has anyone seen this?

1 edit an Original RAW in Photoshop file opens a new pixel (.tiff or .psd) image without any changes in LR.

2 edit "with Lightroom publishes" opens a new image (.tiff, .psd) pixel with the LR changes preserved in the new file.

    3. change a psd or .tiff file Original in Photoshop (ie. re - open a Photoshop file) opens in Photoshop, exactly as you saved it.

One problem! If you edit a .psd or .tiff file in Lightroom and then re - open in Photoshop and Lightroom flattens the image and Photoshop previous edition (layers, etc.) is everything HAPPENED!

Suggest that all first edition lightroom then go into Photoshop for finishing. Consider un.pdf/.tiff your editing "final".

Create virtual copies if you want to do more editing in Lightroom with Photoshop retouching.

Big hint - Open images by 'Open as Smart Object in Photoshop' then you have the opportunity to re - open the layer Photoshop (background) (Smart Object) in ACR for more crude adjustment. It uses the ACR version related to Photoshop (not Lightroom)

    Hello

What is the number and the model of the computer?

You have the computer floppy drive?

Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?

    Follow the steps:

    Method 1:

Remove all external devices connected to the computer such as printers, scanners and external USB hard drive and check if the problem persists.

    Method 2:

Check the BIOS setting and also, I suggest you to update the BIOS. To update the BIOS, contact the manufacturer or the manufacturer of the access Web site.

Note: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • Another installation is in progress; You must complete this setup before it--NO other installation IS in progress and using Windows 8.

Some plug-ins must be updated. When I click on "update now" and download the update, I get a message "another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one. "I use Windows 8. There is NOTHING else being downloaded at the moment. I rebooted and it does not help this happened for several days.

Plug-ins that I try to put up-to-date are QuickTime and Google Earth. Also, I was unable to update my printer software.

I need simple instructions on how to correct her. I searched and see that this has been one problem for others but can't find a simple solution that is well beyond my knowledge base.

Found the solution on my own. If this happens to you, I open the troubleshooting Windows Update (Windows 8), and corrected the problem in order for me to update all plug-ins. Rebooted and everything was fine!

  • Have you ever wondered what is using your hard disk space?

Most of us eventually ends up in a situation where we wonder what takes up space on our hard drives.  If you're like me and you do not have a highly organized environment, this can be particularly challenging.  In the past, I used an application that scans my hard drive and color points of occupation my hard drive codes.

The application that I've always used is called WinDirStat.   Here is a picture of what looks like the program after scanning your system.

Here is a link to their Web site.

  • bug: 'drive not ready' which was already fixed bug is back

When you try to start VMware so that you have mounted a vmdk with vdk.exe jobs appears an unnecessary error message / false.

It is harmless but annoying as it prevents automatic start of virtual machines

The bug was present in the earlier version but had been fixed with 6.5.0, if I remember correctly.

    Now with 7.0.0. He's back.

Whereas from VMware seems to check all drives available - and it merges if it finds something unexpected.

Suggestion: ignore all this. It is not really important if a vmdk is mounted everything by starting the workstation.

See screenshot of the error message-

  • You have probably heard of this issue before?

    Hi all

After having problems with my FlashDrive for 2 weeks, I decided to use my last resort, this forum!

I did not update my flash for a long time, even though I was encourage to do, then when I finally download the last version it suddenly wouldn't work? Normally, I thought it would be to delete the old files, and then save the new files for the new version, but it still does not work?

I have the "Macromedia Flash 8" program installed on my computer and I wonder if that could have an impact?

I also tried to uninstall the Flash player and then install the new version again, but againg without a bit of luck.

I hope that you can allocate what could be the problem at my end.

    Thank you for your help

    BR

    Chris

It seems that you have all that is necessary.  However, you can have Flash Player disabled in Internet Explorer.

Need something to 'Manage Add-ons' in the Tools menu?  Can you check it if 'Shockwave Flash object' is enabled?  (I can't tell you exactly where to look, as I am always with the very old Internet Explorer 6.)

  • Hard drives not found when you try to install Windows Server 2008

    Hey guys and girls,

I've spent the last 20 hours, trying to solve the problem of not being able to install windows server 2008 r2 on a new Dell server.

    My configuration is:

    Dell PowerEdge R310

    4 x 1 TB 7.2 K SATA HDD

    Controller Raid PERC H700

I can't even install the drivers that I downloaded from the Dell support site because Windows Server 2008 Setup will not recognize them.  These factors include the Raid Controller, chipsets Intel, SATA etc.

I used the settings default, all changed the Auto Off Ports and vica versa, I put the server in Raid and ATA mode with all the possibilities, but it will be will not detect any HD!

Please help, as it is essential for my health, employment and mental health.

    Best regards

    Sami L.

What OS?  What RAID controller?  How many discs?  The size?  RAID level?

I can't assume that everything is the same, especially when you have a different system altogether which does not support the H700 (so the files would have been meaningless even if Dell had not broken links). :)
