Dual monitor installed on Inspiron 3487

I'm reposting this question here posted with no luck in the Dell Forum of bureau-video community. BTW, my OS is Windows 8.1 64bits.

I just bought a Dell Inspiron desktop i3847-5386BK and I am trying to achieve a Setup dual monitor with 2 monitors 24 "widescreen LED Dell E2414Hr.

The specifications for the detailed but photos also Office of front, back and inside the computer are here:

http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16883156238

Basically, the Office has 1 VGA port, 1 HDMI port and multi-port USB 2.0/3.0

Specifications for the monitor, but also detailed photos are here:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/420579/e2414hr_24_widescreen_led_monitor

Basically, the monitor has 1 VGA and 1 DVI - D port

The first monitor is already connected from the port VGA monitors to the VGA port of the desktop computer via the VGA cable supplied with the monitor.

My question is about the best way to connect the second monitor. One option is to get a HDMI cable at one end (office) and DVI - D at the other end (monitor). The computer will be able to manage this dual output and adjust automatically to both monitors or it will require some changes of setting? The computer lacks a dedicated to my knowledge graphics card and my main goal is to use these monitors independently with occasional extended desktop display.

Also, are there better options for the office monitor the connection in this case as a (office) HDMI to VGA (monitor)? I saw online that the HDMI cables at one end and VGA on the other end could be a scam because it is not possible to convert a digital signal to analog without converter, but also there are people who say this type of cable works fine. Are there better options to connect the second monitor using the USB ports on the computer? Given that one of my monitors is already connected via a VGA cable VGA will be the second different monitor everything in terms of brightness, readability etc if it has a DVI - D instead of VGA input? Finally, what would be a place to get the converter/cable recommended discount?

Sorry for the post of multiple question since a long time, but any help on this would be much appreciated and will help other institutions. Thank you in advance!

Computer output VGA--> VGA cable VGA--> #1 E2414Hr VGA in
Output HDMI--> HDMI to DVI cable to computer--> 2 # E2414Hr DVI in

Once connected, open the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel and configure the second monitor.

  • Dual monitor problems / external

I recently bought a netbook NB200/007 and want to use two monitors (mainly for display of pictures etc on larger screens)

It came preloaded with Windows 7 starter, after having found that the Starter edition did not support dual monitor that I've upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium, but I'm still not yet to make it work.

When the external monitor is connected, the netbook picks it up and sets up two monitors, but the external screen does not light (it remains in standby mode) I tried several different resolutions and also tried to use the external monitor as a single screen by selecting the option to have it as my main screen.

If anyone has a suggestion of how I could get it to work, I would greatly appreciate.

    Kind regards.

    Hi puma325,

  • The dual monitor settings not remembered

I just added a second monitor (same size and resolution as the first monitor). After using "personalize > display settings", activating the second monitor in the mode double screen, monitor the position and resolution, then selecting "apply > Save Settings > OK" the new monitor will work fine. However, when I restart the PC, Windows knows more on the second monitor and I have to redo all the settings more. It's ALWAYS happening (and not sporadically). I've never had this happen before in configurations dual monitor. I don't do something correctly?

I'm under Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit, 2-24 "1920 x 1280 Digital monitors, graphic adapter advanced ATI HD 4850 with dual output DVI, 8 GB of memory.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Jon,
Download ATI Catalyst Control Center, which includes the updated drivers for your card, of the following:
    http://game.AMD.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=Vista64/common-Vista64

After installing the software and restarted, you can access their software by clicking on start-> all programs-> Catalyst Control Center, click on CCC
Then adjust your settings of dual monitor since the display under chart type Manager, here you can set the desktop, the refresh rate resolution and you want 1 of a possible 5 modes (press F1 to get help with their applicaton) display. Make sure that save you after having selected the desired configuration. • Problems with dual monitor: VGA is out only work

I have a dual monitor card galaxy geforce gf430 who worked on Sunday night before putting the computer to sleep. When I came back Wednesday on the side of the hdmi/vga/dvi vga worked the only possible output. After having checked all the settings and the cables and update of my computer, I had more than one screen. I ran the program provided with the card and so far nothing. It is not even read a different location for the screen. can someone please?

I took the liberty to do a little research on the ASUS HD 6450 map.  Are - what you got to get the ASUS HD6450 silent and low GPU or the bigger one with the fan?  It might be possible that those silent will not support Eyefinity technology since it was modeled for the home theater PC use.

I noticed that the model with the fan on the radiator mentions he is compatible Eyefinity, while the silent model does not work, but it allows you to choose between a VGA, DVI or HDMI port, but do not use them simultaneously.

    Hello

I am currently under a dual screen setup with my monitor and a separate screen. It seems to work fine for a while and then all of a sudden my computer will start to act up, and then it will go to the blue screen of death. A small window pop up at the bottom left says there is a problem with my video card driver, but I have updated their and still get the same problem.

Also, I checked the information page on the ATI website for this video card, and they even state it supports dual monitor.

    Thanks in advance, Scott

EDIT - if I remove the VGA cable connect my laptop on the screen while my computer crashes, it will return to normal after a second or two. However, if I try to plug it back in then it will take to crash my computer.

  • Mode Dual monitor: can I extend the main display from right to left?

I have a Setup dual monitor with

Main screen with desktop computer: Dell S42092

    Secondary display: Inspiron notebook.

Is there a way to extend from left to right?  I wish I had my secondary screen (laptop) positioned on my left, not the right, which seems to be the only way that the configuration of the resolution of the screen allows you to do.  I currently configured as

    Display (2) Dell s24092

Several screens: extend these screens (this allows me to drag from left to right, which is not intuitive if the laptop is on the right.

If I can't do it with this configuration, this work with another monitor, type?

    Trudy-o

My OS is Windows 7, but I've been to the screen "Changes the appearance of your poster" you describe.

It identifies the laptop as monitor 1 and the S24092 Dell Monitor 2. It allows me to do 1 or 2, my main screen, but it does allow me to pass the identity of 1 and 2.   Therefore, any screen is my main screen, management of drag forces me out of the side right of the main screen (the great Dell) before entering the screen of the computer, which I turned to the left.  I am left handed and I smile with my left hand, and I'd rather have my secondary monitor to my left.  Is it makes sense?

The identity is to tell you, visually, that is, whose number has no significance. The computer screen will always be 1 and the outside will be always high because you can not disconnect and because it will be the first computer find at boot.

To put secondary (2) on the other side, press the image of monitors, monitor 2 drag it to the other side of the #1 and press apply then / adjust displays are flashing and if he succeeds, it will appear a window with a 15 seconds timer to reset the display if no one pressed the Yes button.

Basically, you want to match the image with your configuration.

I'm left-handed too, but use the mouse with your right hand. and I have a laptop with Vista and an external monitor (primary) to the left of the laptop.

  • Installation of the driver software window opens on the second monitor in a dual monitor extended installation of the monitor

The "Software Installation" window will open on the second monitor in a dual monitor extended installation of the monitor

I have a dual display setup. A 225WS 1680 x 1050 monitor LG is connected via a VGA cable and a VGA - DVI converter to a DVI port on a Radeon 6850 video card. The second screen is a Samsung HDTV set at 1920 x 1080 and connected via HDMI on the same video card. I have set up the screen LCD as main monitor and the Samsung HDTV as the extended display. HDTV is most of the time, but I use it at least once a day. This isn't a driver problem, because it happened also when I had an old Nvidia video card and it is fixed by a new installation of windows and setting up of screens from a square.

The installer works great almost all the time except when I try to use some programs or Windows functions (7). When I try to start the MozBackup application or I pop in a new usb device and click on the notification bubble, both these windows (MozBackup and the "Driver software Installation" window) open in the center of the HDTV as opposed to the LCD (which is defined as primary). The problem is that the views are ~ 3 meters out and HDTV is mostly off.

I sent a bug report to the developer of MozBackup because this part is perhaps a problem with its software or what old Windows functions and hooks it uses, but the window "Installing the driver software" (or who knows what other program Windows Basic) has exactly the same problem and is part of Windows.

What can I do about it? I DIDN'T put the displays in any mode "clone" to have office in mirror between them. Is - this fixable somehow? I guess that is not a problem with the video card drivers because I used two different video cards with either the manufacturer or windows update drivers and the problem is the same.

I'm talking about a window similar to this one

    Try changing the backup.ini

    you find it in

    .. \Program files (x86)\MozBackup\backup.ini

Open the file backup.ini with editor

Check if you have the rights to save the changed files in this directory. You may need to change the Directory rights

Change the value of "1": monitor

    wyzodir =

; Monitor: the monitor number where MozBackup window will appear

    monitor =1

'2' or whatever the value of your primary monitor is:

    wyzodir =

; Monitor: the monitor number where MozBackup window will appear

    monitor =2

System main screen could be identified as '1 '. If you have changed the monitors, it can be used internally '2 '.

  • The main screen becomes secondary in a Setup dual monitor (DVI-HDMI)

Original title: WINDOWS PROGRAMMERS: problem with OS Windows7 not being not able change the numbers of identifiers when using multiple screens and HDMI

To be clear... This problem is with the Win7 OS - no video card GUI that allow to change number ID display on multiple monitors.

Problem with several screens and the use of HDMI cables substituent and #1 assuming that for its corresponding display view identifier.

    Not always ID desired.

But there is no way to change this.

    EXAMPLE:

Monitor is configured as primary display (ID #1) using a DVI cable

Then I connect my SONY Bravia or my LG HDTV displays using HDMI cables, the new screen automatically takes over as the display identifier #1 and the monitor becomes identifier #2.

-This introduces to the identifiers is not something I want, need or want to deal with every time I use several displays. And it creates problems.

There is NO way to correct or modify the identifiers.

Please provide a FIX as soon as possible if you have an ounce of concern for the customer service.

The solution can be as simple as:

GO to THE control panel - appearance and customization - display - change display settings:

Right CLICK... on one of the displays in the window to the left of "Detect" / "identify."

Then the OPTION 'Change display login' with a list of relevant identifier numbers according to the number of multiple connected screens.

    Click 'apply '.

    CLICK ON 'OK '.

and Voila! View identifiers are defined.

    Hi Jean-Pierre.

Thank you for all the information related to the issue.

This problem may occur if the display of the configuration settings dual monitor retain the configuration. Possible reasons could be installed on the computer outdated display driver.

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer or the graphics card?
    2. Are you using double display card? Sometimes changing the display settings for the display cards might solve the problem.

First of all, if you have a display of the map or media panel installed on the computer, go to the control panel and change the setting under multiple display change. Assign the identity number according to the status monitor, then check if it retains the configuration when you restart the computer.

Additionally, make sure that you have installed the latest version of the display driver for Windows 7 from the website of the manufacturer of the computer. Sometimes, if the driver is not being updated, the setting may not keep the entire installation. See the link to know how to update the driver on Windows 7:

  • Dual monitor - determine which screen a program opens the

    original title: confusion bi-ecrans

At my place of work they have a 2nd monitor mounted to my computer so I now have 2 of them. I don't know I like this immediately. I don't see the advantage (still, in any case) because you cannot watch two of them at the same time anyway as you can with overlapping windows. I'm always looking for left right 1 monitor, then the other.

    My question:

I noticed that sometimes I click on a link in my browser on one of the monitors and it will open up a new page on the other monitor, so I have to swich my field of vision. I was expecting for the new page opens on the same screen as the link that pointed to it rather than the other monitor. Is there a setting that controls this?

I use Dual monitors all the time, I don't know how I managed without, but I guess it depends on what you use on the PC

Monitors can be placed in what position the monitor "means" provide, you can have one on the other with the right stands.

And no there are no settings to change that monitor a links don't open the. It's win7 pre available condition had been installed the complete graphics driver and may be available if you use some graphics drivers

    Hi ManajitSengupta,

You want to hope that it is not a compatibility problem, because that could leave you a GROUND for a solution. Assuming that everyone even working on a solution. I had a few problems after the upgrade of Vista that never existed when running the Windows 7 RC on the same computer. The cause of a problem is not necessarily in a straight line between Win7 and the problem device. Hello:

If you only run XP and don't have no plan to upgrade to Windows Vista or Windows 7 and just VGA (not DVI) output, this PCI video card should work for you, and your machine has only PCI slots.

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/PNY-nvidia-fx5200-Dual-VGA-DDR-256MB-video-card-PCI-/160704820819?PT=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item256ac0f653

You will need to read the installation manual on the support page and the driver of your PC because I believe that you need to change a setting in the BIOS to the PCI card to the video card main.

Or you can search for a similar PCI card with a DMS-59 output with video split cable that goes to two monitors.

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, mid-2012) running on Yosemite 10.10.5.  I currently have a system of dual monitor hooked up with an Acer monitor (version: AL1916W Abd ~ Jan. 2008).  When I use this monitor as Desktop 2 and move my apps to email and calendar to this office, I suddenly find that mail will not receive any new messages very well and the calendar will often lose the connection and does not update to mobile.  I thought maybe of interference on the WiFi, but Google Chrome runs on the desktop at the same speed as on my laptop.  Perhaps it is still a form of interference, but I don't know what is the cause or how to fix it.  Perhaps the monitor is too old and now is not compatible with my operating system?  The monitor is connected with a VGA XAVIER to converter Thunderbolt and a VGA cable normal VGA.

The internet I use is the internet at the University where I work, so reset the router or something like that is not an option.  Help?

Please open the Mission control pane in system preferences and uncheck the box marked

  • HP 251-a123w: I have a Setup dual monitor using VGA and DVI - D ports?

I want to connect my HP 22uh monitor to my office using a DVI - D to DVI - D configuration.  Then I would like to complete a Setup dual monitor by connecting an Acer X193w monitor to my office using a VGA VGA configuration.

Is this possible?  Two ports on my desktop computer can be used at the same time to support dual monitor?

I see that the cables double monitor are in the form of Y and I thought that maybe a single port may be used simultaneously.  If someone knew this information then it would save some time & money on experimentation...

Monitor HP 22uh was bundled with my new desktop PC and I cleaned the Acer to my now deceased Vista system.  It is in very good condition, would like to add.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about the use of the video taken two DVI and VGA and wanted to help.

According to the technical specifications of HP for your PC, both of these jacks can be used at the same time.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.
