Dual OS and W7 Home Premium

I have an OEM (Elite e9280t) machine and wants to set up a configuration to dual-boot with W7 64 bit Home Premium and Linux (Ubuntu, v10.10). Is this possible with this version of Windows? I know that you can do with W7 Pro but what version Home premium? I have a good Suite of management/Boot Disk (Paragon) software. I have a lot of space on my HARD drive.

Also, this will violate any part of my vices? Thank you very much in advance.

P.S. I'd be ready to move to W7 Pro if necessary, as long as it is allowed by HP.

Laurent,

Install another OS is not going to void your warranty. Worst case, HP may ask you to use your recovery discs and reload the original OS.

If you have two hard drives in RAID mode you can install the new OS on the second hard drive. You'll have to boom the size of hard drive 1 to adapt to the needs of the new operating system.  Unplug the data cable 0 disk hard when you perform the installation on hard disk 1.  Once everything works, and reconnect the hard drive 0. When you start, press the ESC key, then select the boot drive. I know it works because I use it on my system e9280t.

  • Try to configure Windows XP Pro and Vista Home Premium to connect wireless to a field internal.

Hello. I recently graduated from a COMPUTER course that was very intense, but I don't think that it covered all the basics for me quite challenge the MCSA exams. In order for me to do, I bought a bunch of MS Press books covering ISA Server, Server 2003, Exchange, etc. My journey made us buy copies of Server 2003 and XP Professional, so that we can continue to practice at home.

One of the things I wanted to do has been implemented a network in my home, using the software I have (not about to try 2008, although I think that one of the books I ordered comes with a version of a test - but it is in a game for the MSITP exams).

This is how I currently have my network configuration. Currently, everything is wireless. I have 1 spare computer that I use as DC with active driectory.

Currently I have a router D-Link DIR 655 (located in the basement) which acts as a gateway to the internet server and dhcp on my network and WPA2-PSK encryption use.

I have a laptop with Windows XP Pro top (that I gave to my wife - old laptop I have baught strictly for the course, I took), and it is completely wireless. It is located on the ground floor.

I have an office (located on the 2nd floor) using Vista Home Premium 64-bit. It's wireless.

There is also a network of printers laser color next to the router in the basement, connected via an ethernet cable.

On the main floor is also my Wii, which connects wireless.

So, as you can see, it's a mixture of differnet devices connected through my router.  I have the Wii or the printer to connect to the domain specifically. The printer must be accessible to computers on the domain, but the wii should just be able to connect to the internet via the router.

The spare box I have kicking around, I put 2003 on server and install active directory. I will also implement via this network storage server. I would like to put up to control the accounts of users of my wife and myself and that it uses roaming profiles.

This works very well when it connects directly through, but how to configure something like this works wirelessly? I read something on another forum in which is setting up a wireless bootstrap, to authenticate against a Radius Server, and then log in to the domain. However I don't have the money to spend to get ISA Server.  The server will be basically be there just to provide roaming profiles and to store things out of our systems, incase we have problems with one of our computers. We could set up something for our own internal e-mail in the future, but since we live in the same House, it seems rather useless at the moment lol maybe set something in the future to let the other note or purchase or to do list. But for now, just want to configure what initially appears to be a single domain with roaming profiles.

Everyone has tried to do that? Connection of the wireless networks in a field, with a router provides the address and gateway?

    Carlo

  • error 0x000000c1 with a canon lbp 6300dn printer and Vista Home Premium

I have a Vista Home Premium that I try to install a canon lbp 6300dn printer on a network.  It gives me the error 0x000000c1. I got the correct driver of canon but continue to get this error? can you help me?

It is an unrecoverable Windows, usually called error message Stop, bug verification, or more commonly the blue screen of death (BSoD).  Not a Setup error.

You can try to install over the previous installation.

If you can get the system for more than a few minutes or you can use safe mode, try to delete the last installed application software or driver.

For the withdrawal of an application:
    1. click on start, Panel, then programs and features.
2 Select the software associated with the printer, and select uninstall.

    To uninstall the driver:
    1. go into the Device Manager
    Open the Device Manager
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/open-Device-Manager

    2. find the printer driver, do a right click Uninstall.
    3. also in the Control Panel, printers, right-click on the printer and click on delete.

Now try to install your printer with the latest drivers available on the Support site of the manufacturer.

  • On machines Pro XP and Win7 Home premium, I throw FF18, Win7 toolbar seems to have been updated in 17, toolbar XP why?

XP SP3 toolbar keeps the symbol at and back areas, Win7 now has the words instead. Other areas seem to do the same. Both work correctly. Another problem that may be relevant, is that the appearance of my site ISP on XP Home page has not been updated when the ISP has recently done so, Win 7 is up to date. All this stuff looks like XP is stuck in the past for a reason, but works well. He has had problems with XP but not this one.

You can check the setting of the toolbar in the window customize (icons, text, icons, and text).

    • View > toolbars > customize
    • Firefox > Options > toolbars

You may need to click Restore default set in the window customize.

Alternatively, you can check for problems with the file localstore.rdf.

I have a new laptop with pre-installed A200 Vista and Norton Internet Security.
I can't use the send/receive button to send Windows messages.
I spent the time considerble in the forum MS to fix this problem without success. I am told that Norton is not compatible with Vista - even if Toshiba pakage this sooftware together.
I deleted Norton and in fact the Windows Mail Send7Receive button start working. BUT then after about an hour it has stopped working again! I have re-installed Norton but the problem is still there! I can send E-mail of Mail when I exit and restart the station.

Can help for this problem - can it be to the ISP? I use port 587 SSL

    Hello

I studied a little more on Norton and Vista compatibility issues and the Symantec Norton Internet Security is certainly compatible with Vista!

Also, I found a document very useful Toshiba on this subject:

It seems that the update of the Software Desktop SMS Installer version will help to address this problem.

  • C00D0FF4 error message when you try to share the media in the Player Windows Media Player 11 and Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit

    Hello
I can't share my media using WMP 11.  When I try to do, opens a window of options asking how I want to share media files (with xbox, other users, etc.), and I select the options and click OK.  Then, when I return in the sharing of multimedia files to see if the media are indeed shared, a window opens informing me "Media sharing has been disabled because a required Windows setting or component has been changed. For any additional help, click Help on the Web. When I click Web help, the error code above, with a few troubshooting not.  You must ensure that Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service is turned on.  However, when I get to the list of Services, WMP Network Sharing is not.  It is also a step to confirm the ownership of a registry subkey.  When I try to access the subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences\HME\ [security ID], however, there is no security ID subkey.  Instead of that, by virtue of the MCH, there is a list of "default (name), REG_SZ (type) and not the value (data)".

Suggestions about how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.  Would it be useful to simply uninstall WMP and start over?  If so, how to do that?  I saw an obvious way to do it.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

  • Iexplore.exe - USE HIGH CPU - 50% (dual processor) - Windows Vista Home Premium

    Help, please!

My HP dv9000 is slow.  PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT INFO YOU NEED ME!  In the Task Manager, under the terms of 'process', it indicates that there are FOUR INSTANCES of internet explorer running, but I only have one window open (with a tab).  I hear my hard drive constantly running and it drives me crazy (and make me cry for my poor computer).  The 4 iexplore.exe (IE8) use respectively 110 000 - 82 300-78 000 - and 8000 K.  Is this normal?

I don't know if we are more concerned by the "CPU" column or in the column "memory (private beach).  In the CPU column, HP Digital Imaging Monitor uses 50.  Is this normal?

Please, I just want my computer to be able to relax.  I'm afraid it's going to explode (not literally, but that's what it looks like!).

  • Live365 program plays more stations in Windows Media Center (the two MCE 2005 on XP and Vista Home Premium version).

When you select any Live365 station, just have a beep. Three different computers with the same problem (XP and Vista). However, all 3 have IE8 with the same default security settings. I also contacted Live365 support for the resolution and waiting for their response. Live365 is working on other media, just not Windows Media Center PC or extender readers.

Thought I'd share some good news, instead of a few problems.

A month ago, Live 365 in Windows Media Center started working again on all my computers (Vista and XP). Don't know if it's a windows update, or an update of the app live365. But whatever the fix was, thank YOU!

  • PC Windows 7 and Vista Home Premium computer network cannot access each other

I have an a Premimum Vista computer with a USB printer on a network with a Windows 7 Ultimate Computer.  Both recognize each other both are visible in the network on both computers) but I can not access one or the other.  Message on window 7 says "your computer seems to be correctly configured but the resource does not."
"Any suggestions?  I need to produce and share printers.

Here are the steps of general network troubleshooting. Just cannot apply to your situation, so just take the bits that are. It may seem daunting, but if you follow the steps in the links and suggestions below calmly and consistently, you will have no difficulty to implement your sharing.

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

Excellent, comprehensive, but easy to understand article on sharing files/printer under Vista. Contains information about sharing printers and files, and the folders:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx

In Vista, turn on password protected sharing. In Windows 7, go to control panel > everything in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. You don't want to use the residential group unless you have all Windows 7 machines. If you do and you want to use the homegroup, see Windows 7 Help & Support. Otherwise, in sharing advanced:

Discovery of plug in the network
Open the files and printers sharing
Turn on the sharing section Public folder sharing
    Plug the password protected sharing

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, turning on window file sharing and printer as the above will take care of that for you. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

Start > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

    D. create shares as desired. In Windows 7/Vista I usually shares its office and the Public directory.

    E. After you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but that is beyond the scope of this answer. • In Word 2007 and Vista home Premium, I cannoty get the preview to the show, or sometimes this watch but put in the form of all pane evil. Ran SFC and chkdsk - no problem apparently - all ideas.

Run ckdsk and SFC - no apparent problem

    Hello

This is probably not a Windows problem. It may be that in Word which is off.

    Typical questions might be:
    Word needs to be repaired
Printer drivers are out of date
    Additional Word

This happens with all Word documents, or only some?
Can create you a new simple document, save it, and then watch the Preview? What is happening.

There are a few quick things to do.

    1. open Word in safe mode. Click on START and type > run > press ENTER. Type > Winword.exe /a click OK. Open a doc and see if the problem still occurs. If it works correctly, it could be a supplement

    2. open Word. Click the Word icon, and then select Word Options at the bottom. Select the tab "resources" on the left. Click on diagnose right.

    3. update your printer drivers.

    Hope that helps

  • Sync media of Smartphones from blackBerry Pearl 8100 and Vista Home Premium

I would use Media Sync with my Pearl 8100, but I can't get the app to load.  I downloaded the application on my desktop and double-click on the file to begin the installation.  Vista immediately gives me a warning window stating that "BlackBerryMediaSync.exe is not a valid Win32 application".  New in BlackBerry App world, I assumed I had to use Desktop Manager to deploy the program on my phone first, maybe.  Of course, the .exe file is not even appear as an option when you use the Application Loader because it is not a type of files .alx or .ali file.

Thus, MediaSync can even run on a 64 bit system?  I'm doing something wrong?

Now, I could use the Media Manager to transfer mp3 files and listen to them on my Pearl, but I prefer to use Media Sync to sync with iTunes.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Solved the problem.  The downloaded file has been apparently damaged or incomplete, and that's what caused the error "invalid Win32 application."  I've downloaded the file again and everything works fine.
