Duplicate or ghosts printers in Windows 7

Found a few articles but no answers.  We have the new matrix printer Okidata 420 installed on Windows 7 64 bit.  The user is connected to a Windows Server 2003 domain with the privileges of the user, not admin privleges.  Printer is/has been found and installed automatically by Windows 7.  It is connected via USB to a hub powered by USB connected to a Dell Vostro Desktop computer

Every so often, Windows creates one (1) copy of the printer, which will now be the printer to work and the Okidata original grayed out and no is more work.  But the applications (IE Quickbooks) then don't see is not the new printer so a new does not work unless we change the printer in the application.

We remove the new printer (or old) and (copy 1) will light back, sometimes after a reboot, sometimes his own.

We eventually gave up and just left the printer (copy 1) and used instead.  Left the grayed out original printer in the printer/Devices folder.

We have now (copy 2) printer. the original (copy 1) are greyed out.  It drives me crazy.  .

What are the causes Windows create and recreate a printer that is already set?  And why should the original offline (in gray)?

solutions anyone?

It appears in the Applications tab of the Task Manager?   If so, use with the right button go to the process about which app it is.   If the name of the Image doesn't have a clue you could also use ProcExp to see what is the command line.  (Press Ctrl-Shift-Esc to start TM.   Other OS show the command line in TM, but I don't think that makes XP.)

    Help me.

Well, I guess you had a virus and restored the computer via a Windows XP ghost image and now you're having trouble with AVG anti virus?

Is it possible that the user account is damaged.

Try to set a different user account and when / if / I hope that things work out well, remove the old user account.

If I misinterpreted your assignment, then maybe the ghost of Windows XP image is also infected by a virus not allowing only not AVG to implement.

  • With the help of HP printers in Windows 8

Windows 8 is the latest operating system produced by Microsoft, Inc.  There are a few differences in the way that you access functions such as printing and scanning from older versions of Windows operating systems.

Whenever you install a printer in Windows 8, there are a few options to do: complete features in OS driver or driver from Windows Update.  There are similarities between the various drivers, but not everything works the same.

However, HP has released a document with detailed instructions on the use of HP printers in Windows 8. The document can be found below:

  • Error message "Windows can't open add printer." The local print spooler service is not running. Please restat the spooler or restart the machine. "while trying to add printers in Windows 7

Original title: my laptop has lost all printers and windows & no longer recognizes them. Help! I can't print anything

I use my laptop computer in a docking station.  I took it out to take for a trip and when I got home I plugged it back (as I always do).  Just before the trip, I have upgraded to Windows 7 and all my printers were working very well.  When I got home and pluged again, Windows does not recognize one of my printers.  When I try to add printers a say8ing error message "Windows can't open add printer."  The local print spooler service is not running.  Please restat the spooler or restart the machine. "I tried to restart and turn off the printer, etc.  Can someone help me?

    Hi RobynGP,

This may occur if the print spooler requires other services, and these services are not running. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. in Services, right-click on print spooler and then click Properties.

    2. click the Dependencies tab. The first box list all system services that must work for the print spooler start. These are dependencies.

3 make a note of each service, click OK, and restart each service on which the print spooler is dependent, if the service is not already started. If a service is not started, right-click, click Properties, and then make sure that the startup type is automatic.

  • Windows server 2008 r2 domain controller deletes printers on windows 2003 Server

We have recently installed two new Windows Server 2008 R2 servers in our field.  one of the new servers is the new domain controller (successor of Windows Server 2003 SBS, which has been decommissioned).  There are two other Windows 2003 servers in the domain.  When we turn off all servers for maintenance and then power them back on, the print on the windows 2003 Server spooler crashes; printers are deleted and the server does not allow you to add printers.  is this be caused by some settings in windows server 2008 r2?  This happened twice, and the solution is to rub the print on the windows 2003 Server spooler and reinstall the printers from scratch.

  • Computer listed under devices and printers in Windows 7

    Hi all

I was wondering, is your computer itself supposed to be listed under devices in the peripheral zone and printer to Windows 7? Or is it a driver problem.

    Thank you

    It's normal.

In addition, only connected external devices or devices that can be removed will appear in devices and printers.

  • How to share files and printers between windows xp desktop that is connected to a wireless router with a laptop running windows 7. printer is connected to the desktop computer

Hi all.  I normally wouldn't have a problem with that, but I must be missing something.  I want to create a home network or small business between my desktop running windows xp pro sp3 and my laptop running windows 7 Home premium.  I want to share files and printers.  My desktop with windows xp computer is connected to a wireless router.  The printer is connected to my desktop as well.  My laptop is wireless with the wireless router.  I tried everything I can think of to get these two devices to the network.  If anyone can help.  Don't forget, my printer is connected to my desktop with windows xp and is connected to my wireless router which is connected to my cable modem.  Internet works fine.  the laptop with windows 7's wireless and internet works fine.  just impossible to get the two see each other or share what anyone.  Thank you.

With respect to the sharing of printer (s), microsoft has a utility called 'Print Migrator'

Download & install, create copy, send a copy to the other pc to share its use.

  • Problem with the sharing printers between WIndows & and Windows Xp

I have a laser printer HP 1150 connected by USB on my computer Windows 7 (Home Premium 64-bit). I want to share with another pc with Xp Pro (SP3), but can not find a suitable printer driver. I read the thread on the sharing of printers and led most of the steps.

My problem is that, although I can see the printer of the xp machine, it requires a driver. I had already installed the drivers from HP and the printer works fine by direct USB connection on the XP machine, but it appears that I need a driver installed on the W7 machine as well - and I can't seem to find one that works.

    Any ideas what to do?

  • Photosmart Premium C309a All in One not no projection in devices and printers in Windows 7 x 64

I just installed my HP Photosmart Premium C309a under Windows 7 64 bit and noticed something perculiar. I can print from programs, but when I go to the "devices and printers" in the menu start, the printer is not there. If I try to add the printer via the "Add a printer" feature, he just wants to another printer for her. Not a show stopper, but weird. Hope this can be resolved if the printer is no longer available in Windows 7.

It seems that you have installed the C309a in a network configuration. There is a document that describes how to access print through devices and printers below settings link. This article describes how you can access your device through the PC peripherals and Pinters icon settings.

HP product icon is missing from devices and printers after a Network Installation in Windows 7

  • Cannot install printers on Windows 7. Access denied!

It's so frustrating, I bought a new HP laptop with Window7 64 bit and install anything is a challenge. I finally was getting all of my installed software, but I can't install printers! I've even logged on as 'hidden' administrator and could not do. Two printers I've tried are a series of HP PSC 2500 and a Lexmark X 6570. I downloaded the packages of installation for each.

The Lexmark software installed, but not the printer - but I don't have an error. The HP install process stops and says "access denied." I must emphasize that I connect wireless printing and have not (yet) tried to connect via a USB cable. Maybe it would help... but the PC seems to be detect wireless printers.

    TIA,

    Jules

Add a network to launch the command line printer

    printui /ip

Select TCP/IP (or search for network printers) printer

Enter the IP address or the host name for the device

With the HP, use Windows Update (I'm sure that the driver has been included in Vista).

For the Lexmark device, select the driver in the list of installed drivers.

If the port does not automatically set up you will need to check that the computer can ping you the IP addresses of printers. Alan Morris Windows printing team; Here Microsoft Knowledge Base search: http://support.microsoft.com/search/Default.aspx?adv=1

  • No printer not appearing in devices and printers in Windows 7

This is quite disconcerting, and after a thorough search, I can't find an answer to work.

Basically, I installed a printer on my machine here Win7Pro.  The printer can be printed from various applications.  However, the printer does NOT appear under devices and printers.  The printer appears under print management.

The printer is an Epson color Stylus 2200 connected via USB.  The computer is a Dell D620 Laptop.  Win7 has been properly installed - no upgrade.  The printer is visible (for example) of Corel Paint Shop Pro X 2.

Anyone has any ideas what setting I need to enable the visibility of printer under devices and printers?  Is there something other wrong here?  It's easily fixable?

UPDATE: I just added a shared printer (connected to a WinXP machine brother 7040) networking for this laptop Win7 and it isn't too visible under devices and printers.  However, what is different here is that this printer is also not visible under the management of printing.

Network connections are not in print management.  They should appear in printers and devices IS very disconcerting.  Normally, this will occur if the print spooler service is not running, but then your local machine would be displayed with a red indicator in printing management.

I guess that you have a standard USB and not a parallel converter cable USB cable.

Check the security settings for the properties of the printer.  Make sure that your user account is listed at least print access.  Devices and printers opens with the standard user security token.
