DVD drive seems to not write

HP G71-340us

Windows 7 64 bit

A laptop for 2 weeks now. Message has just popped up to create recovery DVDs, okey dokie NP.

Have a new offer of Memorex DVD - R 4.7 GB DVD so I go and get the three said the program of recovery is necessary.

Disc 1 - recovery said the disc was not Virgin, ok maybe I got a bad DVD, he said to eject and insert a blank DVD.

Disc 2 - recovery began and grew to 6% then says incompatible disc.

I have now 2 coasters.

I start the HP provided program Cyberlink Power2Go, select a folder with about 3 GB of data and insert a new DVD-R in the drive. Click on burn starts now and valid program to burn DVD for a minute at the media stops as an error.

Have now 3 coasters.

These DVD works in my laptop HP DV6000 computer, old Acer laptop and 2 desktops Sony.

Can I have a bad drive or have a solution?

EDIT:

I had a few CD - RW I bought about 10 years ago, jumped into a vacuum and the program Cyberlink Power2Go copied about 300 MB of photos and finalized the CD fine.

It seems so the reader works for burning CD - RW but not DVD-r.

Update:

After being on the phone for a few hours with tech support, they think I have a faulty DVD drive. They offered to send me one to replace me?  I informed them that I had another 3 hours to return the laptop to Staples to meet their 14 days back for any reason policy. The tech laughed and said go for it and call back if I still have problems.

Back the laptop in the box, goto Staples, exchange for a new, light, go through the Setup program, click on create recovery disks and voila, it creates any recovery 3 DVD perfectly and still had 1/2 hour to spare.

In any case, technical support has been excellent, Staples was very thoughtful and I have a working computer.

My HP Presario f 700 laptop does not recognize my CD/DVD drive and will not burn or play CDs or DVD movies.

I have a lightscribe, CD/DVD player, and I started having problems about a month ago... I tried to burn a lightsribe CD and my computer told me that I didn't have a CD Lightscribe drive (I!)... then when I just tried to burn the music on the CD, he didn't do it either... Finally a week ago, I tried to play a movie on my laptop, and that does not work either.

When I insert in the film or the cd, the drive lights up and I can hear the work, but it is as if she has no connection with my laptop and my laptop is not picking up the CD/DVD drive try to play a movie or a cd.

A friend suggested that I go to the HP website and am trying to download a driver, but I didn't know what to do once I got to this website, and I don't know if it will work.

  • HDX 18 laptop: DVD drive plays but not Blu - ray discs. No idea why?

Drive seems to work fine and it plays DVDs, but when I insert a Blu - Ray disc, Media Smart software opens and after a few seconds, a boc opens and asks me "do you want to check for updates?"  with a Yes and no button.  No button produced no results and the Blu - Ray does not play.  Any thoughts?

    Hello

If you use HP MediaSmart DVD to read Blu - ray disc, try the following.

HP now provides a version of PowerDVD 10 Cyberlinks which seems to be a better solution.  Download the installer for it on the link below and save it to your desktop.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp53001-53500/sp53029.exe

When the download is complete, open windows panneau Panel configuration, open programs and features, right click the entry for HP MediaSmart DVD and select uninstall - once this process is complete, restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, double-click the installer for PowerDVD 10 start the installation.  Once this done, see if your Blu - ray disc now plays OK.

  • Silent CD/DVD drive acoustic does not work on Satellite P100-194

    Satellite P100-194 (Win XP MCE, Bios-Version 2.20)

Given that excessive vibration of the drive DVD-Multi-with some of my DVDs and CDs, I would not use the acoustic silencer, but West no difference between Silent Mode and Normal Mode.

I tried to reinstall the silent acoustic tool, without success. As this problem starts to get really annoying, any help would be appreciated.

I wonder if the built-in-multi-DVD player is sensitive by default (sometimes entire Notepad starts vibrating combined with a noise level very high during playback of a dvd)?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi WB,.

I think that acoustic silencer simply limited the rate at which information can be obtained on CD/DVD in order to prevent the rotation high speed that can sometimes occur when extracting the CD or the DVD to the hard drive. If you're just watching DVDs (or listening to CD, by the way) then the speed of the drive will be not particularly high because once the buffer is full so there is no need to read more data from the disc itself. If you look at the car LED, you'll see that it only lights intermittently ever.

The speed of the drive will decrease during playback, as the laser reads information from the outer part of the disc surface.

The presence of noise and vibration normally indicates that the disk is "eccentric" or is not set centrally in the reader, and this may indicate a possible problem with the clamping mechanism itself. However, it is always worth checking that the center hole of the disc itself has no Burr or pieces of materila which he would lift off, and it is also useful to check if the label of the disc (assuming that it is a type of stick on paper) is properly attached and has no loops or bubbles in it since this may also cause noise of air.

I have the experience of a couple of game of CD-ROM discs that cause a lot of noise and vibrations in my book and recording, I found that the central hole was slightly shifted.

    Kind regards
