DVD - r is more reading or burning sensation
About 3 weeks, the SD-R1162 DVD - R that came with my Satellite M30 stopped from burning of DVD - r and is no longer reads DVD - r that I had previously written. He has no problem reading of the CD and of the commercial DVD or CD - R (W) s. I have tried everything I can think: update my BIOS, drivers from the chipset and controls software, viruses and spyware, different brands of media, the system restore and nothing works. I have the latest firmware (1332) on disk and am running Windows XP Home SP2. Any ideas on what could cause this weird behavior? More importantly, any suggestions on how to solve it would be much appreciated. Cheers, doonyakka
Hello
Have what burning software you tried to install?
In my opinion if you have problems to burn and read DVD burning you should test the DVD from different manufacturers.
As far as I know that could be the problem. I use TDK media and I m very pleased with this CD and DVD
Good bye

Set the auto play options and also uninstalling and reinstalling the drive, but nothing worked. Please Helppp.I'm waiting for the solution proper pleaseeee
Hi sergeblache,
Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.
I understand that you are facing problems to use the DVD drive to read and write disks, we try these steps and check if it helps.
Method 1:
Given that you've tried the Fixit and relocation of the reader, you can read the article and try manual steps to change the upper and lower filters in the registry settings. Check if this may help:
Your CD or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs
Important: The article mentioned above shows you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
For more information, see the article:
Method 2:
If you have installed a third-party DVD burning software, then Uninstall the same and look for the question.
If you need further assistance, please answer and we will be happy to help you.

Satellite M30: the drive will not read or burn a dvd - rw - Xp SP2

Hi Khalifa,
Until you can play a DVD - RW on your M30 the DVD must be finalized. In order to record on a blank DVD - RW the drive must be formatted first (using something like Nero INCD). If all goes well, then you should be capable of both wathch and burn DVD - RW discs. :-)

available to solve problems with newer drives? If I get this problem in the WEB, there is an a large number of
questions and problems with playback and engraving
Discs DVD-R DL with this drive model!
How is it possible?I hope for some advice to get an update of the firmware player
to solve the problems of reading and writing DVD - R DL discs.Janni J. Gettings of Germany
Hello
I found the update of the firmware on the European driver Toshiba page!
Satego X 200 - 21 d seems to belong to the PSPBEE and the Toshiba page provides the update of the firmware to TO02.
It s for the TS-L632 reader. But generally not all CD or DVD of all manufacturers is fully supported.
My knowledge of the user manual should provide a details and info on compatible and tested media.
Using recommended media, you can be sure they will be compatible and will work 100%.Greetings

Qosmio F30 - 112 - DVD player can read and burn DVDs
Hey everybody!
Here's the problem: my DVD-ROM won't read some DVDs, it does not burn. In Nero when it start burning error pop up and the message is: Power calibration error
I tried with all the testers for writer and reader of alerady and they all did not find any problem. They said that the recorder and player work properly. I even reinstalled twice end it always shows me this error and it will not burn or read some DVD Windows Vista (which I tried to read another computer and there is no problem). I tried to clean it with cleaning and nothing.
I think that this problem started since I've updated the firmwire F103, but I do not know...
Help please.
Hello!
Was the update of the firmware of your CD/DVD drive or have you another one? In my view, the drive could be faulty due to a bad firmware
But before you exchange the drive, you should try to remove the upper and lower filters in the Windows registry:
(1) start Regedit (start-> Run-> Regedit)
2) go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
(3) in the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key and delete the key "LowerFilters".
(4) restart.Good bye

CD/dvd drive will not read/burn CD
Dell Dimension 4700 w/TSST CDRW / DVD TSH492B
Originally, the PC does not recognize even the original drive. (Not sure what happened there...) Then I followed your "5 steps", open the PC and unplugged and reconnected the cables power and data, in Regedit, F12 and F2 and now the drive will read CDs of music via Itunes, but the habit of reading a photo previously burnt cd. It won't burn a cd. (I burned before CD on this PC)
When I put in the cd, I hear he's trying to 'catch', but only about 3 waves of tours then... nothing. I have Sonic RecordNow software (supplied with the PC) of engraving and HP photo software and recognize that there is a blank cd - r in the drive D: ready to record.
(I'm pretty computer) But I am confused as to why it won't read or burn. I am due for a new disk? I would be surprised that we have not much used because again a few years ago, we bought the Dell. (I've never even played a DVD on it) For most of the picture and music CD.
