E1200 low speed wired & wireless through L2TP

I have the L2TP connection. Without the router, just cable, I have 35 MB/s download and 70 Mbit/s upload.

Through the E1200 wired & wireless, I get a huge download speed 5-14 Mbps.

I have the latest firmware and I reset it after the update.

I read a lot of information about it and a lot of people write that this router just can't handle the gear through L2TP.

Is this true? It could be fixed?

If you get only 5-14Mbps download speed via the router, which is so far beyond the rate without it, I must say that the router has problems. You can try to lower the MTU settings to 1460, and then do the test using speedtest.net.If that does not solve the problem, I suggest getting a new router, preferably a one gigabit.

  • Low speed on Wireless N

I'm trying to implement a DV6 on Wireless N. I have a Linksys WRT160N router and get speeds up to 120mbps on a desktop wireless located near 100 feet from the router. I can not get over 54 Mbps on the laptop, even within 10 feet. I checked the properties of the device and verified that the width of the channel is set to AUTO and 802.11n Mode is ENABLED. I noticed the rest of my system below specs. Any help would be appreciated.

    LAPTOP MODEL: HP DV6

    Operating systems: Windows 7 (64-bit)

    RAM: 4 GB

WiFi ADAPTER: Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN

    PILOT: 13.0.0.107

    ROUTER: Linksys WRT160N

    FIRMWARE: 3.0.02

After much research, I believe I have solved the problems with the Wireless N of low speeds, especially with Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN configurations. Here's what I could learn from Intel support forums.

"The IEEE * 802.11n draft prohibits using high throughput with WEP or TKIP as the unicast encryption algorithm." If you use these methods of encryption (WEP, WPA-TKIP), your rate will be reduced to 54 Mbit / s. Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350, Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150, Intel® WiFi Link 5300, Intel® WiFi Link 5100, Intel® WiFi Link 1000, and Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN client drivers connect using a legacy IEEE 802.11 g connection rather than failing to connect altogether which complies with the IEEE 802.11n draft standard. "This means that you must use a connection Wi - Fi Protected Access * (WPA2-AES or WPA2-TKIP).

I have reset the wireless security on my router to use WPA2-AES, reconfigured my laptop for the same security settings and options was immediately connected to more than 200 Mbit/s.

  • Low-speed satellite Pro U400-142 - Wireless-N speed problems-

    Hi guys...

I ve just bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-142...
I have a belkin N1 Wireless cable router...
I was really happy that I could get the speed up to 300 Mbps... with this laptop and the router...

I am very very disappointed that he is only showing 65Mbps... My laptop supports Wireless N such that it has a wifi Intel 5100 card inside...
    Why show a low speed?

I m in the same room as the wireless router if the signal is excellent...
I've tweaked on with the settings in the network adapter settings...
I got it to 130Mbps... for about 10 seconds before it dropped back down to 65Mbps...

Can someone tell me what is the problem?
I need to change some settings on my N1 router or what?
This was one of the main reasons why I bought this laptop.

    concerning

You have reason seems the wireless network adapter supports the Draft N
But are you sure that you are using Draft N?

Is it enabled in the Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab card WLan?

At 802.11 N selected in your router settings?
Update you the BIOS and WLan card driver?

  • Satellite P100 GPU fan turns costantly at low speed?

Finally something strange happened on my laptop and I wonder if even happened to other users of P100 series laptop. All of the sudden GPU fan began to operate at low speed all the time. Before he reached 60 ° C and then had shrapnel short until it cooled down to 50 ° C and the order. But now it runs at very low speeds and temperatures are around 48 C. It is not noticeable and I'm very happy with what (it should be like that from the start).

Now I wonder what could have triggered that. Do you have bios that has changed (I have the latest 2.40). At the beginning when I changed the computer bios worked as before, but then at some point I changed muffler in performance mode and since that day, the GPU fan runs constantly. I tried to change it to silent mode, but the GPU fan runs all the time. My laptop is P100-115 (Geforce 7600)

    Hello

Looks like you re a happy with the use of the fan.
I think that the new BIOS has been changed and that's why he has better influence on the performance of cooling module and so it works at very low speed. I think it is much better than the rotation of the fan restless.

As you have already mentioned the Toshiba power saver controls the speed of the CPU and cooling method. If these settings could affect the cooling of laptop.
But believe me; It of much better to have the constant low temperature and fans completely.

  • Satellite A100 - 192 Windows Vista USB low speed

    Hello

I installed vista on A100-192, I configured everything correctly, all the drivers installed, but the USB transfer speed is totally low and when hollow transfring usb I have sound and video form. / CPU usage is 100 percent when data transfer from my camera or compact flash. Same thing with the PCMCIA card.
On windows xp, it worked great!
I guess it's something about drivers, because when I connect my hard drive usb hollow it works very well/windows sees it as a hard drive, but when I connect something else, and windows sees it as a removable drive - about low speed starts :/

Any idea on how to solve this problem?

    Best regards

    Hello

do you have what drivers installed? That you have downloaded the drivers, have you downloaded the correct drivers? Sorry for my question, but I'm sometimes on certain things and then I can't explain the errors that are produced.

  • Low-speed Internet with wired connection to E4200

I have a HP Pavilion p6347c AMD Athlon II X 4 630 2.80 GHz, 64 Bit, Windows 7 SP1 WITH 16 GB of Ram, using Comcast high speed Internet.

It works very well and I had no problem with my Pavilion until I replaced my old router G with a LinkSys E4200 (state-of-the-art, the top page of the router line N).  All the features work well, except that when I use Firefox 7.0 or Internet Explorer 9.0, the connection time is very very very slow when my computer is connected to my router with an Ethernet cable.  The problem disappears when I log - in using the same Ethernet cable - directly into the modem high speed; Then, the loading speeds are fast as lightning.  When I return to the router via a wired connection, even - page very very very slow post.

I've already spent about 8 sessions with LinkSys on the phone and chat, and it turns out that the router is not the problem (according to LinkSys).  They advised that I need to contact the manufacturer of the computer, or people who can respond to Windows 7 support issues.  Someone at - it ideas?  Maybe something I can change in the settings of the firewall, network, computer security options settings?

I connected my HP laptop running WINDOWS VISTA on the same Ethernet cable and disabled the wireless.  The speed of the wired connection is quick as a Flash - no problem at all.

Then why my desktop Windows 7 SP1 computer not offer me the same speed?  Whenever I need to do important online work, I have to unplug my Ethernet cable from the router and plug directly on the modem to get faster speeds.  I then reconnect to the router once completed, so that users without wire and devices on my network work.  It's very frustrating.

Help!  I am at a loss to understand why this computer has not faster to the Internet when wired to the router.  Is - this Windows 7?  There are some options that I need to change?  Someone at - he heard talk about this and you offer solutions?  Appreciate any assistance.  Thank you.  / Jacques novel /- [email protected]

P.S. Customer LinkSys was no contribution to this issue.  I hope that some tech "warned" this reading will say AH-HAH and offer a viable solution.

On a hunch, I selected the reset 'Factory Defaults' option in the Administration, after having updated the firmware. Something must have been damaged during the first attempt to install the router.

To reset the default settings, you must have the original Setup disk and re-install using the same router name and the password.

When this was done, the Ethernet connection worked perfectly.  Hope it will be useful to all having the same problem.

My Cisco E3000 slowed its Ethernet speed so slow that it times out when you go on Facebook, YouTube or any site that is complex. It worked fine until one day he just give up. It is connected to the DSL Modem with Ethernet to an Apple Mac G5 power PC there are two other former Mac connected via Ethernet, same problem. When I look at Cisco Connect, everything seems normal. factory settings. I worked a lot so something has changed. Help me, my children are revolting.

Thanks for all help. Nothing has worked.

On a live chat, the agent of Linksys gave me some valuable tips. two options actually.

I decided to launch this router on the sidewalk and go with the Apple of Base Station.

  • E1200 V2 speed

Hey, I recently bought the E1200 advertised as 300mbit/s, but it is slower than my old WRT54GL. The wireless, I get only 1.5 / 2 MB/s download speed and 6-7 Mbps wired max.  My ISP gives me 100 Mbps in download, about 12 MB/s without the help of the router.

I'm not an expert imto configuration of routers, but I think that I have disabled anything that might slow down, but no change at all.

I was getting 3-4 MB/s wireless and 4-5 Mbps wired with the old WRT54GL... something must be wrong here.

@Redbull, your modem speed is impressive. The speed you get directly to your modem and the speed at which you get connected to your router should be the same or if there is a difference, it should be close to that.  Make sure that WMM is enabled. Sucurity must be set to WPA2 only. You can reflash/update the firmware of your router. See the link here. Manually upgrading the firmware of the WiFi Linksys router or gateway series X

  • [WRE54G v3 - EU] Strong signal but very low speed

    Hello

I just managed to get my new WRE to work after digging around several useful threads. My laptop connected successfully through the WRE and I got the signal strength excellent (54 Mbit/s as the status of dialogue shown). However, when I tried to browse multiple web pages, they took a long time to load. I ran a test of speed at speedtest.net and I'm barely 100 KB/S download speed (sometimes, it falls as low as 50 KB/S). Before when I connect my laptop in my room through the living room's wireless router, the signal was weak but the download speed was decent.

Is that what I can do to help increase the download speed? Any idea/useful experience will be greatly appreciated! My router is not Linksys but custom-made by my ISP to support DSL, phone and TV at the same time.

    Thank you!

What is the Distance between your router - WRE54G and computer. Make sure the Distance between your router and not more then 40 WRE54G fts 40 fts and the distance between your WRE54G and not your computer. Once you have done this right connections, after that, you can check the speed of your computer.

  • Connection to an internet home wireless and wired, wireless or ethernet

Hi, I reinstalled Microsoft WIndows XP Professional Service pack 2 on my computer that I needed a new start. but now I can't seem to connect to a wireless network in my house or via the ethernet RJ75 cable, I think how ever that the wireless card is now broken, but that shouldn't stop the Ethernet to work. in any case, I tried to connect to a net work through a wizzard, but it does not, even if I plug the ethernet cable, there is a confirmation light next to the plug as it should, but no confirmation on the acctual screen.  usually on the lower right side of the display there are usually a picture of two computers one in front of the other, but who isn't here either.  I hope someone can help.

    Thank you

You must install the device drivers for the Ethernet port and a wireless adapter.  If you do not have their share on site, you will need to download the drivers on another computer on a USB or burn it to a CD.  It is better to get them from your computer manufacturers web site.

You may also need, or should get the most recent and display drivers for your sound card, adapter, etc.

  • Bad speed of wireless internet on EA4500

Hello everyone. I have an ea4500 wireless router, I tested the speed at speedtest.net and wireless, I get around 9 Mbit/s. My speed is 23 MB/s when I hard wired the pc.

I check the speed on a Tablet (), pc and a mac about 5 feet away from the router with no walls or something between the two devices.

I checked all the settings, but I don't see anything wrong, I've changed to N mode just to make sure that I use the top speed.

All my devices are able to use N.

My experience on this is not good and that's why I ask your help, thanks a lot.

Redefine the Mode Wireless on joint. 2.4 GHz settings, change the width of the channel to 20 MHz only and select a specific channel. Recommended channel would be 1, 6 or 11. Download inSSIDer to find out which channel is not too crowded. Follow the link provided by jlbjlb.

Another thing that could affect the wireless connection is the location of the router. Make sure that it is on an open and superior location. Make sure it is not next to a metal object or other device which transmits/receives/frequency of the wireless signal. Also, make sure that it is not too close to your modem.

  • WFI low speed WLC2504, AP2602i

    Hello

I have a problem with a wireless speed. The materials I use are wlc 2504, ap 2602i, 1602i. Problem is with customers who are only associated with the ap 2602i, often the speed is very low 10-50 MB/s (from properties windows wireless). When it works normally speed is 144 MB/s.

I'm quite novice in the wireless, please explain to me how to troubleshoot and increase speed.

    Thanks in advance.

  • The DNS server does not - wired - wireless is OK

    Hi all

This problem has left speechless several other computer scientists, I thought I'd try this forum before making a complete reinstallation.  Here's a challenge to test your intelligence.

    Here's the situation:

Dell laptop (11 months - still under warranty) with Wi - Fi and ability.  Originally supplied with Vista, but I installed Win7 in November.  I tried to do the clean installation method, but do not know if I managed to 'clean' approach because I thought that my data may be wiped.  He was not, he is still on the machine.  But W7 seems to work very well, I added Slowey some software.  I think I was able to communicate with a wired connection before on the machine, but now I can't be sure.  The machine communicates wireless without problem.  IE8 opens fine.  If I connect the wire and cut the antenna or boot to the wire with antenna, the machine starts and works well, but does not connect using IE8.  I get a message "the DNS server is not responding.

The machine can ping and ping just fine on the wire.  A chat session with Dell yesterday (Citrix I think) succeeded in transferring to wire wireless when I turned off the antenna.  In addition, the MS patch notification came through this morning, but I can't download the patches on the wire.

Here is what has been tried so far:

    1. Changed cables and ports in the router to check the status of these question: these are OK.
    2. PC directly connected to the router: same problem.
    3. Verified services running (Control Panel-Admin tools-Online Services online):
System event COM + (for WZC issues)
      Computer browser
      DHCP client
      DNS client
      Network connections
      Network location awareness
      Remote procedure call (RPC)
      Server
      TCP/IP Netbios support
Automatic configuration wireless (only XP wireless configurations)
Autoconfiguration WLAN (wireless Vista only configurations) service
      Workstation
    4. Verified IPv4 is defined in order to obtain the IP address automatically.
    5. Reset IE8.  No change.
    6. Turned off the Windows Firewall.
    7. Tried to access internet using Chrome.  No go.
    8. Wired NETWORK card uninstalled and reinstalled driver.  Downloaded last at Dell, they pushed also later.  No luck.
    9. Tried the Google Open DNS.  No difference.
    10. ipconfig/flushdns
    11. TCP/IP stack repair (run as Administrator: start, all Programs\Accessories and right click on command prompt, select "run as administrator" to open a command prompt.)
-Entries reset WINSOCK to default installation: netsh winsock reset catalog
-Reset the battery TCP/IP IPv4 default installation. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
-Reset the battery TCP/IP IPv6 default installation. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
    12. While in Safe Mode, disconnected wire: uninstalled the driver for the CARD.  Started full W7: installed the latest driver.
    13. In Safe Mode, the stack TCP/IP repair as described above.

All to nothing does not.  IE does not connect to the internet.  Chrome is not connecting to the internet.

You people have any ideas what the devil is wrong with this machine?  Can you offer any suggestions to try to get access wired for the functioning of the internet?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Stringout,

I said to reset the router because the router is the DNS server and assigns the IP address to all devices on the network. Now, since you get the error "DNS server is not responding. It may possible that this router is not able to assign the correct ip address to all computers.

You can also try to update the router with the latest firmware. Still, Microsoft!
