E1200 Wireless is slow (Ethernet is fine)

I just bought a new router Linksys E1200 to replace a D-Link router, in order to address a problem of Xbox Live. This problem has been resolved with the new router. However, the E1200 wireless connection speeds are very slow, while ethernet speeds are normal.

Speedtest.NET show me speeds between 0.5 and 2 Mbps instead of the usual 20-25mbps I receive via ethernet and wireless from the D-link download.

Interestingly, my download speed seems unaffected and remains about 4 Mbps if I connect wirelessly or via ethernet.

My router is a Linksys E1200 v2 running 2.0.02 build 3. All 3 computers, I am trying to connect are MacBook Pro of variable age from 2007 to 2011. I have the router allows only connections Wireless-N, and encryption is WPA2 Personal.

Try to go into the QoS (in Administration?) and affecting the disabled WMM. Then, run your tests. Make sure that your computers are not set to N only, or you will lose connectivity. WMM is required for N Wireless to do its job, WMM slows Internet.

Hi guys, my laptop cannot connect to wireless internet. I tried to use ConfigFree Diagnostic tests already installed on my computer, reset the router, and even taking on the router for 30 seconds and put it to. On my laptop wireless switch is turned on, too. Is the only way I can connect to the internet via an ethernet cable and I started to disconnect from the wireless internet just yesterday. I know that my router is not the problem because I have a laptop connected to her brother. Also, I tried the FN + F8 key on my Toshiba laptop. Thank you in advance.

Anyway the same answer applies: update WiFi driver that something has probably
He touched. Make sure that the wireless device is turned on, if there is a switch on the computer.
Many Toshiba have a WiFi switch on the front or side.

Update the driver WiFi, use the wired (NIC) to download the driver or do it on another
system and your transfer on removable media such as CD, DVD or a USB key.

Control Panel - device - network - WiFi note the brand manager and full
model information - double click - writing tab Drivers version - then power management tab uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device...". »

Then on the tab driver, click Update driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind
drivers of certification) - then right click on the device - UNINSTALL - REBOOT - this will
    update the driver stack.

Go to system Maker and search for the WiFi Driver updated - download - SAVE - go to
where you put it - make a right click on it - RUN AS ADMIN - REBOOT

Then go to the site of the manufacturer of the device and get even more recent (Realtek, Intel, or one that makes
the device) and try the install again.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Wireless is slow on Windows 7 on laptop brand new (Lenovo T510)

I have a new laptop (Lenovo T510) with Windows 7 Professional.

The wireless is slow at home and at work. (I use www.speakeasy.net/speedtest for my speed tests.) At home, the wireless speed is about 1 Mbps. My older laptop (Dell Latitude D630) XP gets 14 Mbps or higher on the same network. If I connect directly to my router, I get speeds over 20 Mbps on my new computer laptop.

I have (even worse) similar results using the connection Wireless at work. I get speeds of 0.4 MB/s wireless, while my laptop Dell (XP) gets 14 Mbps. (Fortunately, I have a wired connection I use at work). At home, however, it is not really practical to use a wire.

I read through the forums as much as I can find, and I've tried several things... which none have helped. Here is what I tried:

    -Updated all drivers network card.

-Management settings power change to "maximize performance.

-Uninstalled software built-in wireless to Lenovo (logins).

-Played clean boots with all disabled non-Microsoft services.

-Disabled my software installed antivirus (Kaspersky 6.0)

The only thing that provided a benefit is disable anti-virus... software but this is only useful at work. At work, if I turn off the antivirus and restart it, I can achieve speeds up to 5 Mbps (remember that my Dell XP laptop always gets 14 Mbps or greater). But, at home, disable the antivirus software does not make a difference.

    Any ideas?

I finally got it to work. I now get wireless speeds in the range of 7 to 12 Mbps. That's what I did yesterday:

-Installed all Lenovo ThinkVantage tools - including updates to * all * optional updates.
-Manually update my network card drivers wireless (Intel Centrino Ultimate - N 6300 AGN) in version 13.1.1.1. (It's at 13.0.0.7 and when I click on update driver, he couldn't find any new tool.) But, I found 13.1.1.1 on an Intel website and installed it.)
-Uninstalled ThinkVantage Access Connections wireless management software.
-Disabled 802.11n Mode (it's been activated) under the Advanced tab of my Intel Centrino Ultimate - N 6300 AGN properties. (This amount has contributed to the work. I received fast performance with this active or disabled on my home wireless network after other changes.)
  • How can I get my HP 7310 to print completely wireless (w/out Ethernet cable)?

I managed to install my HP 7310 printer to my router wireless using an Ethernet cable.  However, I'd rather have my printer HP 7310 connected to my network completely wireless, i.e. without the need for a long cable to my printer connected to the wireless router.  Is this possible?  If so, what can / should do to set up the printer this way?

    Hello

Your printer doesn't have a wireless card so you must connect the cable to the router / access point. You can also add a wireless for your printer print server (cost over $$) like this:

    http://compnetworking.about.com/od/wireless/SS/wirelessgear_4.htm

    Kind regards.

PS, the above print server is for example only, please do NOT buy it, it is a bit of waste.

  • Ethernet Wireless, fast slow Time Capsule

I recently updated my internet connection 500Mbit/s up and down by fiber. When you connect via ethernet to my Time Capsule cable, I get 500Mbit or even a little more on different speed tests. When I go to wireless, however, I get "only" 80-150 Mbs. I created a ssid special 5 GHz to my wireless network. If I don't do that, I get only 40Mbit/sec.

My iMac is a model 27 inch end of 2013 with a gigabit wireless card that supports 5 GHz a/c. My Time Capsule is the 'tour' a little over a year, I bought. It has a/c Protocol and is currently running firmware 7.7.3

What I find strange is that my upload speed is always doubled my download speed on the various tests.

Here's what I've done so far:

    1 restart the modem fiber.

2 restored Time Capsule to factory settings and renamed name SSID.

    3. has created a special 5 GHz ssid.

4 proposed time Capsule of only 3 feet from my iMac without walls or barriers.

This has no effect. If I run the speed test connected via Ethernet, I get 500 Mbit /sec. should I get at least 400-500 on wireless with my configuration as well?

Is it a setting in my iMac somewhere that I missed?

Moreover, my iMac is being Yosemeti, 10.10.5...

  • Wireless is slow on Windows 7 laptop (Lenove T420)

I've had my laptop for over a year and had no problems, but for a week, wifi has been brutally slow.  When running on ethernet, it is fine.  It started while I was on vacation - so the problem could be related to connecting to a bunch of different wifi networks in hotels, etc., or to bump or drop the laptop and damage the wireless card.  I've been using speedtest.net to test and when I'm on wifi the ping works fine but when it got to download test stalls.  The download speed is tested on ethernet to ~ 8 MB/s

I searched around on a bunch of other forums and did all the updates appropriate and uninstalled driver Thinkvantage Access Connections, etc. anything.  At this point, it seems that the most likely scenario is a faulty or damaged wireless (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000) card, but when I run diagnostic of Intel and Lenovo on tests they spend.  Is there an other issues causing slow or is wifi wireless card problem and should I go ahead and order a new?

FYI, has found the solution, check out this link: http://nevermind.dk/nevermind/blog.nsf/subject/windows-7-if-your-wireless-connection-is-really-slow-this-is-most-likely-why.

  • Slow Ethernet to Thunderbolt (35 mb/s)

    Hello world

I'm here because I've tried everything, I found online, but nothing works for me. I would like to reach the full potential of cable (~112mb/s). Unfortunately, the transfer speed is only about 35 MB/s. With exactly the same set up, as described below, but with my old Macbook Alu (2008) with an SSD, I reached 108 - 111 MB/s.

    How I tested

For the purpose of my test, I'm trying to copy a file-ZIP of 7 GB of 1000-2000 photos of a Synology DS1812 + (A 8 disk Raid server) to my Macbook Pro retina (end 2013) i5 2.6 GHz 8 GB. But here's a little map of my connection:

    Server RAID-> 5th son-> (my local ISP) router-> 5th son-> switch-> 5th thread-> Thunderbolt/Ethernet adapter > MBP retina.

I watched the transfer with the activity monitor, Little Snitch speed and the speed of download from my server own activity monitor, it should be OK.

What I tried to solve this problem:

    • Restart
    • Change Ethernet adapter Thunderbolt (35 MB/s-> 38 - 40 MB/s)
    • Boot mode safe (Shift key)
    • Create a new user on my mac
    • Disable filter Little Snitch network
    • Little Snitch Agent hit with activity monitor
    • Try again with the Macbook Air from a friend (seems to be the same, but only tried it once for a few weeks and I remember a slow connection)
    • Delete all my network connection profile, create a new
    • Turn off the Wifi

I think I said it all. Any ideas?

Hello.  You did it ensure that the connection has been properly negotiated in system preferences > network > Thunderbolt Ethernet > advanced > hardware?  The configuration is usually set to automatic.  The speed should be 1000baseT and full-duplex with flow control (I think there is an energy efficient Ethernet definition too... "(but I'm on wifi at the moment I can't see the Ethernet settings) and a MTU of 1500."  If the speed and duplex are wrong, they will have to be changed manually.

  • Wireless AC slow (and different) read/write speeds

    Hi all

I just bought a new Mac Mini and unfortunately it is too far from my media server to run an ethernet cable (I just moved) so I use an Airport Extreme (new model with AC Protocol).  But the read speeds seem to be slow I can't broadcast some movies from high on the server bandwidth.  I tested the speed of transfer, and it seems that I get the following:

    READ: 24 MB/s (or 192 MB/s)

    WRITE: 8 MB/s (or 64 Mb/s)

Can someone explain to me why these speeds are not the same?  And should not be a lot faster?  I get full signal and I joined technical details if this helps to explain anything. I would like to know what speeds you guys get with your Airport Extreme.

    Thank you!

How far is your Mac to your server?

There the walls or something in the line of fire?

Have you tried the 2.4 GHz connection instead?

  • Issue wireless and slow graphic on Toshiba laptop

It must connect to the Internet even I 30Mbit/s so fast connection and sometimes it is not even connect to the Internet from the worst wireless card that I've ever seen of the age.
And can someone tell me what I have on the wireless settings when I test my speed it will not display the parameters: 356Mbits/s, he jumps, here is a picture where I mean what settings I have to correct this: [http://www.pikipimp.com/pp/pimped_photo/s/image/41/108/213/Sk_rmklipp4.JPG?ts=1233587970173]

And the second 2 is the graphics card: oh my 6 year old laptop guy girfriends, and he acknowledges so fast when I click to watch videos online on the Internet, but with my NEW Toshiba laptop, I expect age to open video diffrient, here on example: [http://channelchooser.com]
Why the graphics settings are so old so bad it sounds as if it was a joke, so slow when I play games The Graphic 3D - OMG - why?

These 2 are not only the problem, but they are more important problem for me that's why I posted them, because there are more question, but it's only under Vista or XP as well?

In your case I would update the graphics driver and WLAN.
The two you can find on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

The image that you posted the question wireless is not available.
However, I put t know how to access the internet, but it could also be a router issue. Try to update the firmware and check all of the WLAN settings on it and on your laptop.

On the issue with online videos, I can say that you should try a different browser or plug-in (often you need Adobe Flash Player) is not working properly.
Check and update software which are required for this.

  • Slow ethernet connection on Satellite M200-A411

You just bought a new Satellite M200-A411. When I got home, I immediately plugged it directly to a DSL modem. And the speed was very slow. Normally with my old Pentium III desktop computer, I constantly receive 330 Kbps. On this laptop I was getting anywhere from 60 Kbps to 120 Kbps. Often, it will not even bring up Google. I thought at first it was just a hard working DSL connection.

So I tried to plug it back on the desktop, and I get 330 Kbps, again and again. I tried to connect using WiFi... everything is quick and satisfactory. I'm pretty sure it s not a problem with the software and most probably it is with the Ethernet controller or the network card. I immediately went back to the store and got another unit. It was not much faster... maybe 150 Kbps. What's common with two Toshiba units is that they could hardly pull the top of the site initially. But as you insist, the speed would go further upward.

Is there like a teething period or a break during the period for these Ethernet devices? There is no reason why I shouldn't receive 330 Kbps on the laptop. This batch of M200 would have bad Ethernet adapters? I love my Toshiba and I hope you could shed some light on this.

    Thank you and more power

    Hello

One is clear; the data transmission depends on many and various factors.
If the server doesn't allow that a higher speed than you will not get a faster data transmission.
There are two sites; Server and client. Both must play together to get the best performance ;)

    Hello!

It looks like a network configuration problem. Check the network addresses and configuration in command line with the command ipconfig/all.

Try using static IP addresses. I think that the DHCP server takes a long time to go send an IP address to each laptop.

I've updated the drivers to those most recent outside, but it has not changed a thing.

I don't know what I can do and any help will be appreciated.

    Hello

Your Intel Wireless card supports three different modes of WLan: A, B and G
These three different modes that also supports different speeds.
In my opinion your use a slow or well the server mode where you download files of does not support a faster speed.

All WLan settings, you should find in the WLan card properties. He just go to Device Manager, select WLan CAD and click Properties.
On the Advanced tab, you'll find plenty of options, and there you can choose A, B or G mode.
Additional I recommend you disable the saving on this card.
