Slow ethernet connection on Satellite M200-A411

You just bought a new Satellite M200-A411. When I got home, I immediately plugged it directly to a DSL modem. And the speed was very slow. Normally with my old Pentium III desktop computer, I constantly receive 330 Kbps. On this laptop I was getting anywhere from 60 Kbps to 120 Kbps. Often, it will not even bring up Google. I thought at first it was just a hard working DSL connection.

So I tried to plug it back on the desktop, and I get 330 Kbps, again and again. I tried to connect using WiFi... everything is quick and satisfactory. I'm pretty sure it s not a problem with the software and most probably it is with the Ethernet controller or the network card. I immediately went back to the store and got another unit. It was not much faster... maybe 150 Kbps. What's common with two Toshiba units is that they could hardly pull the top of the site initially. But as you insist, the speed would go further upward.

Is there like a teething period or a break during the period for these Ethernet devices? There is no reason why I shouldn't receive 330 Kbps on the laptop. This batch of M200 would have bad Ethernet adapters? I love my Toshiba and I hope you could shed some light on this.

Thank you and more power

Hello

One is clear; the data transmission depends on many and various factors.
If the server doesn't allow that a higher speed than you will not get a faster data transmission.
There are two sites; Server and client. Both must play together to get the best performance ;)

One question; Are you using the Vista on the M200?
If Yes, then you should check out this article:

  • Satellite M200 - problem detection USB connect after waking from sleep mode

Hello. I need help! I'm having trouble with the laptop Satellite M200 (Vista) - after the awakening of the mode standby, none of the things connected to the USB port is detected, even if they worked perfectly before sleep. No mass reader, mouse, iPod is detected - even the SD for ready boost is not detected. Simple plug in and out calls any action (window AutoPlay etc.). Sounds like a BIOS problem but my laptop is completely up-to-date with all drivers and all the rest (of Windows and Toshiba support website). Would appreciate any advice. See you soon.

    > fully up-to-date with all the drivers and everything else
The latest version of the BIOS too?

  • Download speed very slow on the wired Ethernet connection

I am currently getting 200 Mbps down and 0.3 MB/s on my desk wired Ethernet connection. I should get 200 down and 20 upwards.

    • On my wireless adapter on the same router, I have ~ 18 Mbit/s to the top and about 15 Mbit/s down, which seems that the wireless adapter works fine.
    • I plugged in another computer with the same cable on the same router port and got the full speed (200/20), then the problem lies within my computer.
    • I made a transfer of files to and from my computer to another computer connected to the same router and I got the full speed Gigabit times come and go.

I searched high and wide on the internet and forums, and that many people have had the same problem I have, nothing of the multitude of solutions worked for me.

That's what I tried without success:

    • Uninstalled the Ethernet card, deleted the drivers, forcing the new drivers to install again. No change of speed.
    • Carefully checked for Virus and malware programs (crossed the registry as well), but found nothing, and nothing has been installed recently other than windows updates.
    • The only antivirus I have is Windows Defender. I turned off and turned off the Windows Firewall, but speed did not improve.
    • I tried with IE, Chrome and Firefox, speed with different services and all tests show similar speeds. I also used FTP to a server I have, and the speeds were the same.
    • There is no other traffic devours bandwidth.

So what I have gathered so far, it's that my Ethernet card works very slow only when downloading from the internet. Within my network, it works fine.

What is a service that does not work well? If so who? I am not knowledgeable on the use of all services. I checked IPv4 and IPv6 and they both seem to be configured correctly, but I can't say that I am certain of what "correctly configured" is.

    These are my specs:

    HP Desktop H9 - 1215t

    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

    32 GB OF RAM

    64 bit

    Chip Intel i7-3770

Controller Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet (NDIS 6.20)

I would really appreciate some help here because this problem I'm paralyzed.

    Thank you for your time,

    Tom

    By George, you got it!

For someone who thinks he's good at Googling, I could sure use some improvements!

The key has been the link to explanation. While I had been close to my tests, this for shows that even when you sort-of-one little-peut-be-think you know what you're doing to keep your legs unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.

The answer was definitely Large Send Offload, but it was a little more complicated, at least to understand what really happened. Neutralization of him gave the tour, but now I work with an active v2 and it works like a charm.

I will detail what, in my opinion, happened here for those who may have similar problems so that they (you) may be able to figure out, as all cards are different and may require slightly different settings.

I live in an area where so far the download speed over fast, I was able to get is 2 Mbps, on a good day, it's usually on average 1 ~ 1.5 Mbps. download speed is between 5 ~ 20 Mbit/s.

I do a lot of video work and I constantly have to download large files on my servers. I got the computer described above about 8 months ago, and my Age (2 years) one remained on my home network.

For a week or two, I was cursing my ISP because the internet was slower than usual and very glitch. I tested my speed and got 20 down and 0.2, repeatedly. So I went through the long and technology-challenged call representative to 'help' me, I was paying for 20/2. Only option was to wait a week for a technician to come out of my house, he stressed have shot my injurybut not before you ask me, that there are faster speeds to internet available in my place. 200/20 which is 10 times what I had, so of course I went with her. In doing so the representative asked me to Exchange my modem/router for a new handle faster speeds.

When I replaced the modem/router, I found that the download speed went from 50/0.2 (after the new request speed but still with the old router) to 200/0.3~0.5 with the new router. I also had a Cisco E2000 router that I turned into a switch, which was also bogged down internet high speed (now that they have been much faster). But still the download speed has not really improved.

This long and winding history is so that you (read this with a similar problem) might find the answer to your particular problem.

Looking back when I said that the issue was in my computer because that became high speed was not quite accurate. The 'problem' was beyond my router, if the solution was in my settings with the LSO parameter. The 'problem' was not really a problem since what I see (guess) that's happened is that my ISP has been updated with equipment, and the settings on my new pc has become a problem while paradoxically not so in my old pc.

My old pc equipped with a "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" and the IPv4 LSO parameter turned on, that she was no problem under the new set of circumstances ISP. 200 / 20 Mbit/s.

Then when I compared the setting on my new computer, it never crossed my mind that the neutralization of him would solve the problem.

My new pc has a Atheros AR8161/8165 controller PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet (NDIS 6.20). This adapter has a setting "IPv4 LSO" more setting "IPv4 LSO v2" and "IPv6 LSO v2" décor. I don't think that my ISP uses IPv6.

In my quest to solve the problem, I placed all of the above settings to "Enabled", without success and in my fog don't reverse these settings.

With the 3 off, it worked fine, but I got a 5 ~ 10% improvement on the download speed with the LSO IPv4 v2 enabled and the other disabled.

There is no way representing the service provider on the phone could know this, so calling them would not / has not solved the problem. Even waiting a week for the technician most likely would not have solved the problem as it would be measured using a laptop full download and the download speeds.

I'm sure this will become a problem most current internet speeds that House are starting to soar (thanks Google!), so I hope this helps those who have similar problems.

    To summarize:

Click on start->Control Panel->Device Manager->network adapters-> your adapter name (mine is Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI - E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20), right click and select Properties. On the advance tab, find good Large Send Offload (IPv4) and change its value to disabled , and then click on OK.

If you have a Large Send Offload (IPv4) v2 try to set that to enable (with either a handicapped of course).

    I hope this helps!

    And thank you George.

  • Slow down webpage loading w/Ethernet connection

    Hello

I have a Z580 Ideapad with an internet connection cable 30mbps (under Win8.1). I tested the modem cable with a number of laptops in my house, and the Ideapad is the only one that expires on a regular basis on the loading of Web pages.

    What I tried:

    1. Update Realtek Ethernet driver to the latest version

    2. changed to the servers DNS of Google ads (no difference in cable operators)

3 power settings changed to High Performance (rather than the balance or the setting of the battery)

    4. disabled IPV6 on the ethernet adapter

The problem seems to be random. Pages will load more quickly, and then suddenly they all then expire (such as google and sold). When I ping the url and the ip address, then they expire during these periods.

The problem is definitely with the laptop and not as such cable connection. The modem has no need to be reset, the other laptops in the House of pages Web loads normally.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

    Hi mate

I don t recommend remove anything if you have no experience with these procedures.
First of all it s not 100% sure what part is affected.
Maybe it s a graphics chip

So you need to connect the monitor of visa the laptop and need to check if the same is visible on the second monitor.
If the same could not be visible on the external screen the problem must be related to the graphics chip.

  • Chicony USB on Satellite M200 camera driver problem

    Hello.

I have a problem and I looked the day on Google, other forums etc. My problem my webcam Chicony USB 2.0 does not work.

It is not like the other problems where it is locked in other applications. With me I can't reinstall it. I've tried countless restarts, uninstalling the camera and restart then wait for the computer to automatically reinstall the equipment (which he tries).

It happens constantly with this error:

Is missing a necessary entry, the installation of the driver for this device. Maybe it's because the file INF was written for windows 95 or later.

I have a portable Satellite M200. I try to update the drivers but it tells me that they are updated. What should I do?

    Hello

I think you are on the external USB webcam and not the internal webcam that is included in some series of laptops.

Thus, in the first case, you should check the webcam installation instructions.
All manufacturers part 3 provides a device clean drivers and installation instructions.

In my case I had to first install the driver of your webcam, and then after new reboot, I was able to connect the webcam to the USB ports.
Then a new device has been recognized and the installation is complete.

  • Satellite M200 - cannot install the WiFi XP driver

    Hello

I recently acquired a Satellite M200 (PSMC0A-02G00M) a friend off the coast and decided this downgrade to XP. This model also has bluetooth. All the drivers work well, with the exception of a Wi - Fi connection - I install bluetooth, which works quite well. When I flick the Wi - Fi switch, this also seems to turn on Bluetooth power.

Windows XP does not detect the integrated Wi - Fi. If you have any ideas, it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sam

    Hi sam.mul,

I think that you need to install the WLAN driver before you can use the internal WIFI card. Have you already installed it?

You can download it on the Toshiba site. After that, it should be possible to use the WLAN card.

    Hello

I put t know which lamps do you mean because I don t find any LAN LEDs on this laptop. In case you I would recommend checking the status of LAN card in Device Manager. Check if this card has been properly recognized and if there is no yellow exclamation point.

In addition, I put t know what you expect. If you connect the LAN cable to the laptop from the LAN icon in the taskbar should usually shows the connected state of LAN cable (NO red x). If you do not see this icon please activate this option in the properties of LAN.

  • HP 2000-2d49WM laptop PC: slow Internet connection

I've dealt with problems with my internet connection for a while now. I first started noticing the issue once we moved and had to switch internet service providers. Before moved us, I was the only one using the wireless, so I never noticed a problem. Now, there are about 6 devices using wifi at some point. Seeing that there are more devices, I thought that the upgrade of the internet would allow a smoother internet experience. I upgraded from 15Mbps to 30Mbps (eventually to 50 Mbps). The connection got faster, but I noticed even a bit of lag from time to time on my laptop. Countless calls to the ISP and many visits by repair technicians at home later, the problem has been resolved. Everything worked fine except for my laptop. Phones and tablets and even the laptop Tech, were running at 54-56Mbps. My laptop? 26 - 32Mbps (using Speedtest.net to check the connection speed, btw). Even directly connected to the modem using an ethernet cord, it was running only about 34Mbps. The repair tech said that he had no idea why only my laptop has been affected by this issue. Now, my connection is anywhere between 20-30Mbps, even lower when others use the wifi.

So far, I tried to reinstall the wireless network card driver and update drivers (the steps proposed by HP troubleshooting) wireless network. I don't really know what to do about this, at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @AJay_89 ,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. It's a great site for information and questions. Thanks for the very detailed post on what you've done so far. Very useful.

I looked into your problem on your laptop HP 2000-2d49WM and slow wireless connection signal. I would change the channel on the router. Routers are able to communicate to your laptop on several different channels, and sometimes it helps.

You could disable IPv6 for the laptop. Some say this helps.

Solve this problem Microsoft Fix it 50413.

Here is a link to help as well.

I hope that it helps anything here.
