El Capitan upgrade must be done with a clean install?

Hello

El Capitan upgrade should be done with a clean installation, as opposed to an upgrade?

I don't know how to do this, or what are the advantages and disadvantages?

This means all the software on my computer is deleted and I need to re - install all the applications (if installing a clean)?   I think not so thought I had better ask!

Best regards

Mike

If you have existing question in your system current, then things could get worse if you upgrade simply. My personal choice is always do a clean install of newest version of Mac OS X.

How to perform a clean install of OS X El Capitan on your Mac.

How to prepare your Mac OS X 10.11 "El Capitan."

OS X El Capitan-download and Quick Installation Guide

Make your own installer from El Capitan flash drive using the El Capitan tool:

Be sure to save the installer in the downloads before installation folder, otherwise it will be deleted once the installation is complete.

You can create an installer of flash of El Capitan via the Terminal drive. El Capitan has its own manufacturer Installer integrated that you use via the Terminal:

You'll need a freshly partitioned and formatted at least 8GBs. USB flash drive leave the name of the flash drive on the system by default, "Untitled." Do not change this name. Wait as the full process that will take some time.

Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Copy and paste the following line in its entirety in the Terminal window.

sudo/Applications/Install\ OS\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia--volume/Volumes/Untitled--applicationpath X\ "/ Applications/install OS X El Capitan.app.

Press RETURN, enter the admin password (will not resonate to the window) then press RETURN again.

You must have setup in your Applications folder or change the paths in the command line above.

I have a P7 - 1126 s running win7 Premium 64-bit and when I've upgraded to windows 8 that everything was working properly. I installed a second monitor without problem. After testing the monitors were operating properly, I shut down the PC to remove the old monitor and when I remved the second monitor and powered on the system. When I rebooted nothing worked. I tried refreshing the PC and rebuild MBR etc... Nothing has worked. MS suggested the clean install. The installation restarts would freeze and I had to manually stop to complete installation.

Hello plantingrichard, first of all, it would be useless to worry about Firmware updates, because data for these Firmware updates are stored in the devices that the firmware has been installed for.

You may be able to restore the system with the feature of restoration of HP Recovery from the hard drive to the system startup and the F - 11 key when the HP Logo screen. Just as it was when shipped, it would put all HP applications on the system.

You can then use the Vista DVD disk and perform an inplace of Windows Vista SP1 upgrade.

If you don't want all HP applications, you can perform a new installation of Vista.

You may be able to locate the Vista SP2, but I suggest the Windows Update site and download and install all updates including Vista SP2.

If you have a DVD of Vista SP2, you can use it to upgrade or new installation. The Vista SP2 would have included in the DVD of Vista SP2 SP1 updates.

As you suggest, it will take some time to complete, but you'd probably have a more stable system using this approach.

  • Help with a clean install of W7 upgrade DVD on SSD student.

A 32-bit Vista running, upgrading to 64 - bit by doing a clean install on another drive (SSD).  It works fine, except that the old man is still "System" drive and I can't start with the SSD as boot drive.  And when I boot the old disk I have the option to load Vista or W7.

I'm confused on what actually the upgrade disc.  Do I have some of the Vista on the SDS files to get W7 to install correctly - or is a new installation, a clean install?  I guess I'm looking at another facility (~ 6 hrs.) because I don't have my drive correctly partitition or something.

I've never had this problem before loading a new OS.  I don't know if it's the SSD, the upgrade method used or old age which is the cause of my problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Synchronization problems with the clean install

    Hello.

Is it possible to push the content of my iPhone to my computer? (and not the other way around)

Recently, I did a clean install on my Mac Pro and trying to get everything in working order. I got a load of music and voice notes on my iPhone that I don't want to lose, but the only way iTunes will allow me to manage the content of my phone is erasing all the content on my phone to sync to the 'new' library

    Help, please!

    Thank you

A new installation of the operating system shouldn't have deleted personal data files unless you want to say that you have done more than a "clean install". You do not install the data files.  Looks like that erase you the iTunes library file and it was a big mistake because it is towards this specific copy of the file iTunes Library.itl that tries to sync your phone.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not that a transfer backup device and media has been planned with you keep a master copy of your media on a computer that is in itself independently supported against loss.  To use a device with a different configuration, you pass the old library from a computer or a backup directly in the new configuration, not the device to the library. Synchronization of media isn't a way, computer device, update the contents of the device to the content on the computer, update or restore the content on a computer from a device. The exception is media to iTunes Store purchases that can be transferred to a computer.

Re-download or transfer your purchases iTunes Store for the iPhone, iPad or iPod to computer - https://support.apple.com/HT201267 - 'this feature only works for content purchased from the iTunes Store. From iOS9 is more apps that now need to be re-downloaded directly from the store.

To transfer other items from an i-device to a computer, you will need to use third-party commercial software.  See this document in turingtest2: recover your iTunes library from your iPod or device iOS - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 even this method can fully recover what you originally had in the library. For example, in order to save space during synchronization if you had converted music files at a lower rate, or photos at a lower resolution, it is these lower quality files that will pick you up.

If you subscribe to the Apple music, titles that are not part of the content that you have purchased or downloaded may not be transferred and must be downloaded directly from iCloud.

  • Please specify: can I make Windows 7 ultimate (64 bit) to Windows 8 Pro (64 bit) for $40 with a clean install?

    Hiya!

Looking to upgrade, but I don't want to upgrade in the usual way. I want a clean install.

I don't want to format the HARD drive and install from scratch. I might even want to buy a SSD and install Windows 8 on my new SSD.

Basically, is there a way to only pay $40, but get to install it properly?

Is this ok? He's trying to force me to buy the OEM version?

    How does it work?

Oh, also, I'm in England so I'll use the UK (£25) version rather than the American version, but it's the same I think.

I was wondering if it will not work properly or if I have to buy the OEM version, because it does not recognize that I have had Windows 7 originally.

Select keep anything during installation is to do a clean install:

Besides being able to keep your Windows settings and personal files, you can keep your personal files too during the upgrade to Windows 7. If you choose No, Windows 8 place your files in a folder named Windows.old. You can delete the Windows.old folder

    How to reinstall Windows 8

    You have two options:

If you want to reinstall Windows 8, which means remove applications and personal files and settings, you can use the reset and refresh. This is equivalent to a clean install.

To do this, follow these steps:

    · Press the Windows key + i on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

    · Click change PC settings

    · Click general in the left column

    · In virtue remove all and reinstall Windows, click Start

Then follow instructions that will be provided on the screen to reinstall Windows on your PC.

    Option 2:

If you create an installation DVD or a USB bootable, you can use them to reinstall Windows. First, you will need to reinstall license qualification, then begin the upgrade to Windows 8. License of qualification means that you will need to reinstall Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.

    Option 3:

A workaround for this situation is to create a system image of Windows 8, just after you have upgraded. So if your drive plant, you can simply restore the image on a new hard drive or restore the image on the same drive, if you want to reinstall Windos 8.

See the following for instructions on how to create an image of the installation process of Windows 8:

(references Windows 7, but the same principles apply to Windows 8).

  • How to manage upgrades to Windows 7 with Windows 10 installed?

So I have a fairly sophisticated question. My family computer is running Windows 7 Home Premium. I built my own PC game last Christmas and I installed the same version of Windows using the same product key. Since the free update of Windows 10 lance tomorrow, I have advanced and reserved my copy. Now, here's my problem: the version of Windows that I currently go to Windows 10 Home. Let's say I want to upgrade to Windows Pro 10. Currently, I'm lost on how should I do for this. I could go ahead and buy my own copy of Windows 7 Professional and install it and then upgrade to Windows Pro 10 or I could go ahead and install Windows 10 Home. But then after I have 10 Windows Home, how I would acquire Pro?

After 10 of Windows is installed, you can purchase an upgrade to Windows Pro 10.

The real problem is that you used the same product key Windows 7 Home on two computers. The rule is: a key = a single computer. You must either uninstall Windows 7 from one of the two computers (sooner or later, one of the two will move non-genuine)

If you want to keep it 7 on the family computer then the best thing to do is to buy Windows 7 Pro and install it on your PC gaming and then upgrade to Windows 10. Note that the only other versions of Windows 7 are OEM / System Builder versions that require a clean installation of Windows you will need to re - install your games and other applications.

    Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/microsoft-windows-7-8-software/b?ie=UTF8&node=1286119011

Another option would be to go directly to Windows 10 Pro by buying:

The version of a $200 more expensive th has advantage of being a 'Retail' version which means can be move to a new game system. OEM versions are related to the 1st motherboard they are installed on the.

  • I upgraded to win7 starter to win7 pro with a clean install

IM missing 3 drivers that the manufacturer of laptops would not give to me the notebook is an Acer ZE7 they told me that they have not recommend an upgrade to win7 pro. sounds really fishy to me I need to level 5 more portable win7 pro.

Please help me with an answer as soon as POSSIBLE

I suggest you to reinstall Windows 7 Starter and use Windows Anytime Upgrade to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional. Personally, I can't find any information on this model. Anytime Upgrade will reduce the headache. Windows 7 Starter and professionals are based on the same kernel, so the same driver will work for 3 lack of pilots. Reinstall Windows 7 Starter using the tools of recovery of manufacturers.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Professional. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

  • How to clean my PC of the old Windows 7 Home Premium installation with a clean install

My computer is so messed up! I'll tell you the whole story, please bear with me. OK, I came from work (16 years) and my father came to me and said, "your computer does not light, I have was to unplug the internet from behind." And of course, it does not. He would flash on and off very quickly every time, I pushed the power button. I solved this problem by discovering that when my father pulled the cord in the back, that one of the pimples on my motherboard popped to the motherboard touch the metal casing essentially shorting the motherboard, whenever I turned on. So I took everything out and put it back to find the power supply, I have currently failed now of all the short circuit or something because whenever I put in market system it would boot then restart and restart saying something anti-surge protector be activated because of a messed supply power. I went and bought a new and better. So, I solved this problem. Now a new problem happened, now I can't get past the windows loading screen as it freezes. So I reset CMOS to see, it did nothing. Then I tried to boot from the DVD, Windows 7 Home Premium only to find would be frozen when the (Windows Logo) orbs paths crossed 4 color. Then, I entered safe mode and was able to get the Windows 7 Installer and install showing. I went to remove my old partitians containing Windows 7 on my 60 GB SSD Intel Maple Crest 330. I would Setup then it and everything was fine until it has passed the first step and restarted the 'service' screen how it would freeze again. I then went in command promt and formatted my SSD to clear all. (Oh I also forgot to mention I tried Startup Repair tool, it did not work) I then tried to go back to the Windows install screen, but I couldn't get him no matter what I did. Windows will continue to freeze the orb scene that I mentioned above. Even on safe mode, I couldn't do it. I just built this PC 2 month with top of the line parts. I don't know why this is happening. Could this be a hardware problem. I checked my RAM and it reads as it should in the Bios (8 GB, 1333... {really 1600 :(}) I also used the functionality of memory OK on my motherboard and it is said he did what he was supposed to do. All MeltMC is fine too (with 30 degrees C on the CPU and motherboard) what on earth could possibly cause this problem? Please help, I have worked on this for 3 days now, and it's extremely frustrating. I have not this is a faulty Windows drive as I already have successfully installed when I built everything first this PC. I tried the 2 RAM sticks in different configurations. I tried one of them in. I tried to connect the CD/DVD writer in different SATA ports. I don't know what else to do! Please help, help, help! Thanks in advance!

A short circuit on the motherboard off short circuit on the food, you're lucky if everything works as it should.

Defective material, irrespective of the reasons why, will make it almost impossible to install Windows.

I suggest to use the warranty of the manufacturer of your motherboard and get it replaced. Then you can start from scratch, make sure that when you pull the power plug, it does not have one of the motherboard standoffs come off accidentally.

When you install the motherboard next, ensure that you set up correctly and to ensure that the case sides are mounted safely because they add a lot of integrity to the case, bending and causing the motherboard to get in touch with everything that it should not stop...
