I would like to help you to solve this problem today. Now, because your printer is unable to 'wake up' and do the printing for you automatically, it is possible that there is a driver conflict occurring.   I ordered the Dell XP disc and did the re-install. It works fine now. The Dell technical support had me do some updates on the web as well. I have not had problems since. What happened with the automatic updates completely wiped out my operating system. At least I don't have to buy a new computer.
