Empty desktop shortcut icons

All the shortcut icons, I create on my desk are just empty white squares. They work when I click on them, but they are just white square empty. The icons that came preloaded are not empty, but I have to create are. Help please?

Thanks again. I think I'll call HP tech Support. Gosh, I hate doing this.
Thanks for your time.

The right image for the shortcut is always behind it, but this page of small white is very annoying. I tried to change the shortcut icon image and production of new shortcuts, all with the same problem. Any ideas?

  • When I click on my desktop shortcut icons in the new firefox 4 I get a dialog box that indicates that windows does not find that the website

I have improved the previous version of firefox to the new firefox v.4 and now all the shortcut icons I used with the previous version display a pop-up dialog box that says that windows does not find this website, check the spelling - address - etc. But immediately after this window opens the Web site loads. I tried to load the original site, delete the old shortcut and drag the new shortcut to my desktop, but Firefox always gives me the same message.

Except for the workstation, MyNetwork, Internet Explorer and Recycle Bin, all the tous les autres other program icons are blank as much and any effort to restore their a fail. Based on the article Comoputerworld patch (02/08/2010) the manual should be reversed before asking the window update, which I did not. I was not aware of the issue.

It depends on which edition of Vista you're updated since then and which edition of Windows 7, you migrate to.  See

  • How can I add missing icon to the desktop shortcuts

Question too much techno for me... I have several desktop shortcut icons... For most of those who appear as the Mozilla Fox, which is fine, but unfortunately, there are too many icons in Firefox, and I wanted to change some REAL WEB SITE icon, or the favicon. How will I know how to do this? Thank you!

It is not a matter of Firefox making it simple - the Windows operating system controls the desktop icons, so with 3rd party Windows applications automatically use the application for the shortcut icon, but it is possible to change the image of what you want.

If you want the image of the Web site that the site to use for the URL bar as a shortcut on the desktop icon to a Web site:

    1. Define the shortcut on the desktop.
    2. Find and save the image you want to use for this shortcut.
    3. Then right click on that shortcut, then open properties > shortcut on the shortcut menu for the shortcut on the desktop, then use "change icon...". " and "Browse... ". " your hard drive for the image you want to use for the shortcut on the desktop.

Insofar as find and save the Favicon of the site, see the screenshot below.

    1. Locate the icon on the Info Page > media tab and click on it once so it is highlighted, then view this picture in the preview window of media down and also check the Dimensions 32 x 32, if the image is not a picture of Type X-ICON.
    2. Then use the button Save under to save this image - name which has saved something unique, as (for example this forum) mozilla - favicon.ico image then you can tell him apart from any other favicon.ico image you may have saved or save.

If you want to use your own choice of an image, you can convert the image into an image to favicon.ico here.

    http://Tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/

When you create a favicon.ico for use as a desktop image, make sure that you select the option merge with a 32 x 32 desktop icon on this page.
