Enable hibernate in Windows XP

Just had to format c: and re - install everything on tour of XP Pro SP3 to my wife. It is used to be able to Hibernate. Now, there is no tab hibernate on power options properties and there is no option of hibernation in on the patterns of power tab. XP help sez it's because the PC does not support hibernation, but it used to support the Hibernate. I searched through the BIOS options and can not find the parameters for the hibernation. Helpppp?

Go to your computer manufacturer's support web site and search for the Windows XP drivers for your specific model number.

If there is then the drivers Windows XP download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the card mother/chipset, SATA, LAN, Audio, drivers, and so on.

Check the download site of the manufacture of the graphics card for the newer Windows XP drivers for your card.

  • Windows updates won't find updates for Office or any other Microsoft programs I installed and there is no option to enable it in Windows Update settings.

OK, so I just had to re - install Windows 7 on my laptop due to a disk failure (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1) and hit a brick wall with trying to turn on Microsoft Updates instead of Windows updates.

I try to click on the link "Learn more" on the bottom of the page to update on the line "Get updates for other products Microsoft." and it opens just a web page with a graphic telling me to open my Start menu and click on Windows updates.

Catch 22 is that Windows Update has no options for anything other than Windows. He won't find the updates for the office or any of the other Microsoft programs I installed and there is no option to enable it in Windows Update settings.

Exactly what I am missing, and where has Microsoft moved the activation of Microsoft Updates page too, because when I click on the link need me to http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5 that makes a whole lot of nothing.

    Thank you!

How to enable aero in windows 7 starter without upgrading and it is possible

If you believe in the existence of a 3rd party utility that 'claims' to be able to enable Aero, yes it is possible. Unfortunately, the success rate is low and the user is often left with way to greater than not Aero problems. That's why I'm not going to post a link to the utility. :-)

Keep in mind that the use of other functions and this Aero in older versions severely paralysed the life of the battery, cut it in two, most of the time. That's why the Starter edition has so many limits...

  • Grayed out button standby and Hibernate in windows XP missing button

Hi, my computer is a Dell (Inspiron E1505) using Windows XP laptop. I had a problem of virus a few weeks ago and had to format and reinstall everything. I'm really bad with computers and apparently I did something wrong because now my sleep button is gray and my Hibernate button is missing. The two were there and works perfectly before the virus.
I went to check the power options, and there is no Hibernate tab more. I checked the following instructions from Microsoft are supported and I labor thing ACPI and in one of the assignment, he says I'm supposed to check a BIOS thing and I have no idea how to do that. I really really need help with this because my laptop is old and it takes forever to start.

    Aicam,

For standby and Hibernation work, you must have at least as much disk space on your drive hard as you have RAM in your system.  For example, if you have 4 GB of RAM, you need more than 4 GB of disk space free for standby/sleep extended to work.  How much free space and RAM do you have?

  • Cannot enable WUSB600N on windows 7

I installed Windows 7 RTM and the WUSB600N USB adapter. I can see the 600N in Device Manager and in the network and sharing Center. In Device Manager, you see that it is enabled. But if you look in the Network Center and share the 600N is disabled. When I try to enable it, nothing happens.

When I run diagostics I get a message that there is a problem with the driver. I downloaded the latest driver and installed, but I can always allow. I also tried to use a Ralink driver... but still no luck. There is something wrong with the driver, but I don't know how I can solve this problem.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?

    Hi Bluejag,

I solved the problem... not in the way I normally would, and as but I don't have the operation of the thing.

The problem with the 600n, is that you can't put it in the pc before installing the drivers of 'old' (on the cd). If you use the Ralink driver or download the latest driver for Linksys you aren't able to operate (Finally I couldn't).

    Here's how I got the job 600n

    I installed Windows 7 new :-(.

Put on the CD and installed the driver (the old driver works)

Put the 600n into a USB port.

    And it worked. :-)

    Even after updates of windows.

Put it in a different USB port and... same old result. I was not able to enable it. Darn :-)

Only one port has been enabled for the 600n

Yet once again, I installed Windows 7.

Put on the CD and installed the drive

Put the 600n into a USB port and it worked again. Put the 600n into every USB port that I have my laptop. It woked on each USB port

    Installed updates to windows.

Done another test, and YES it still worked.

So, it took me several hours to get the thing works, but I'm the thing works a d she works yet :-)

To install the new Windows is not the way I want to solve a problem, but it was the only way.

Perhaps my solution is also to you.

Good luck and let me know if you have solved your problem.

  • RESOLVED - unable to enable IPv6 in Windows 7, so unable to connect to the homegroup - ZoneAlarm was the problem

My problem is that I can't turn on IPv6 in Windows 7.

My goal was to set up a homegroup three computers so that I can share a printer that is connected to one of them. They are all running different versions of Windows 7.  A desktop computer has created a homegroup, and a second desktop computer connected successfully to the homegroup and can print using the first computer printer.

The third computer is a portable computer. When you go to the homegroup settings page, it says that the homegroup is available. But this computer is unable to join when you click on the "join" button. The convenience store said IPv6 must be enabled.

Option is checked in the IPv6 network card settings. (The install button is also active and uninstall is dimmed. I don't understand why this should be as I have read that you cannot uninstall IPv6, if it makes sense for the uninstallation to be grey, why install would be an option? Confusion between.)

Here is what seems to be the root of the problem. In the registry settings, in the section IPv6 DisabledComponents is set to 255 (disabled). I change it to 0 (all features enabled), but I can't always connect to the homegroup. I restart the computer and the value 0 is changed back to 255.

I can't activate IPv6, it isn't surprising that the computer cannot join the homegroup as I read that this function requires IPv6.

Can any expert from Microsoft give me some advice on how to operate the homegroup?

    Thank you very much.

I have now found the answer to my problem. This is a setting in the free ZoneAlarm firewall. I will describe the solution in the case of meeting other people that.

I have the default setting of the version of ZoneAlarm is that it disables IPv6 when it starts. (I don't know if it's the same for all versions).

Although I tried disabling ZoneAlarm (and my separate anti-virus) so he was trying to set up group residential, just turn it off has no impact on registry settings - DisabledComponents is always set at 255 until you change to 0 and, critically, restart the machine. Then, the parameter 0 (enabled) will come into force. Or so it seems to me as a layman.

But if you did not disable the automatic startup of ZoneAlarm (like me) then as soon as you restart the computer, ZoneAlarm starts too and resets the 255, new registry entry to disable IPv6. If you can't join a homegroup.

The solution is to open ZoneAlarm and choose firewall, hand and advanced. Then you will see the option to activate IPv6 networks. When I didn't do the notebook had no problem joined the homegroup.

I don't know why I have the same problem on the second desktop computer. Maybe it's runnning a later version of ZoneAlarm to allow IPv6 - I haven't checked.

In any case, I spent hours looking for this solution, so I hope that the description above helps someone else that has a parameter of the problem until a homegroup because of what seems ZoneAlarm made IPv6 settings in the registry.

  • Unable to hibernate on Windows 7

I have a Windows 7 that I reformatted recently thanks to the OEM recovery tools. Everything went well... until I realized that I can't Hibernate. Before the reformat the computer hibernated perfectly. This time, when I press "Hibernate", he turns off the screen, the led on the HARD drive for a few seconds (10-15) and then... nothing happens. When I moved the mouse, the login screen appears as if I was locking the computer. I tried to delete the hiberfil.sys file but it says that the file is used any time, what time it is. I cannot hibernate as I used to. Help, please!

I found the troublemaker. It's Ubuntu. I managed to remove and viola! I can hibernate once more

  • message keeps comeing to enable services in windows Security Center, but I can't not error code ox80070422 & ox8100002f what I can do

error codes ox800704227 & ox8100002f remember to come to the top, what I do.

    Hi Dave,.

    1. when exactly you get error messages?

    2. you did any software or hardware changes to the computer before the show?

Action Center replaces Windows Security Center in Windows 7.

Action Center manages firewall settings, Windows Update, software antispyware, Internet security settings, and user account control settings.

    Method 1:

Check if the Windows Firewall Service is enabled.
To do this, follow these steps.
    a. Click Start, type services.msc and press ENTER.
    b. double-click Windows Firewall.
    c. set its startup type to manual
    d. click OK.

    Method 2:
Error code 80070422 0 x when you try to enable the Windows Firewall:
Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Method 3:
The ox8100002f error indicates that the backup was successful, but ended up jumping places as he could not locate them.
    Reference:
0x8100002F error code and or error code 0 x 80070002 when you back up files in Windows 7

Hope this solves the problem. If the problem persists, you can write to us and we will be happy to help you further.
  • How to enable IPv6 in Windows 8 when it shows that it is enabled

When I try to connect to my home group I get a message "your network connection must have active IPv6."  However, in the properties of my network it shows that it is enabled.  I disabled my Norton firewall & virus scan but that doesn't seem to be the problem.  I added the DisabledComponenets with the value set to 0 in the registry.  Still get the same message.

    Hello

First remove what you did just in case it is incorrect.

Your router and all the computers must be able to IPv6 (hardware, firmware, and drivers)
to use a homegroup. Check the system Maker (manufacturer of motherboard for customized systems)
or the sites of manufacturers of real devices to update network drivers. Also check the router
site of the manufacturer for firmware updated to date. Check their support and ask in their forums for everything
    known issues.

These are for Windows 7 apply to Windows 8.
