  • Grayed out button standby and Hibernate in windows XP missing button

Hi, my computer is a Dell (Inspiron E1505) using Windows XP laptop. I had a problem of virus a few weeks ago and had to format and reinstall everything. I'm really bad with computers and apparently I did something wrong because now my sleep button is gray and my Hibernate button is missing. The two were there and works perfectly before the virus.
I went to check the power options, and there is no Hibernate tab more. I checked the following instructions from Microsoft are supported and I labor thing ACPI and in one of the assignment, he says I'm supposed to check a BIOS thing and I have no idea how to do that. I really really need help with this because my laptop is old and it takes forever to start.

    Aicam,

For standby and Hibernation work, you must have at least as much disk space on your drive hard as you have RAM in your system.  For example, if you have 4 GB of RAM, you need more than 4 GB of disk space free for standby/sleep extended to work.  How much free space and RAM do you have?

  • Enable hibernate in Windows XP

Just had to format c: and re - install everything on tour of XP Pro SP3 to my wife. It is used to be able to Hibernate. Now, there is no tab hibernate on power options properties and there is no option of hibernation in on the patterns of power tab. XP help sez it's because the PC does not support hibernation, but it used to support the Hibernate. I searched through the BIOS options and can not find the parameters for the hibernation. Helpppp?

Go to your computer manufacturer's support web site and search for the Windows XP drivers for your specific model number.

If there is then the drivers Windows XP download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the card mother/chipset, SATA, LAN, Audio, drivers, and so on.

Check the download site of the manufacture of the graphics card for the newer Windows XP drivers for your card.

  • Unable to hibernate on Windows 7

I have a Windows 7 that I reformatted recently thanks to the OEM recovery tools. Everything went well... until I realized that I can't Hibernate. Before the reformat the computer hibernated perfectly. This time, when I press "Hibernate", he turns off the screen, the led on the HARD drive for a few seconds (10-15) and then... nothing happens. When I moved the mouse, the login screen appears as if I was locking the computer. I tried to delete the hiberfil.sys file but it says that the file is used any time, what time it is. I cannot hibernate as I used to. Help, please!

I found the troublemaker. It's Ubuntu. I managed to remove and viola! I can hibernate once more

  • Satellite P100 - no sound after sleep or hibernate on Windows 7 mode

    Hello everyone,

I'm desperately looking for a solution for my sound problem on my PC after browsing many forums that were talking about the same question, but without effective solutions either.

I write this message because I have a laptop Toshiba P100-488 running under Windows 7 64-bit (after having upgraded the processor) and that uses a Conexant CX20549 audio chip.

Everything works correctly, and if the sound is chip with a 64-bit of Windows 7 installed driver but I noticed that after the return of fashion sleep or hibernation, then audio device is still recognized in the Device Manager and shown as active in the control panel and in the taskbar but unfortunately No sound out of speakers.

I tried several drivers (including those from Dell and HP on some sites) but still the same problem.
Also, I tried to update the driver from Windows Update that suggested the Conexant SmartAudio HD2 but the same behavior.

Those of you who would have a solution for me or perhaps a driver concerned that could solve this annoying problem is question here?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards

    Fred

    Hi Zen81,

    Thank you for your message.

I suggest to perform a clean boot to see if a startup program may conflict with the RESUME from hibernation/standby state:

    Hello

As we know hibernation will requires c: space of more than 75% of the size of RAM. (for example drive C must have free space of more than 12 G Hibernate when a machine with 16G of RAM)

But the amount of free memory requires that hibernation? The failure of the Hibernate once met. But I don't check the State of the memory at the time.

All the details about this which might give?

    Thank you

To work reliably every time, your HDD has need free space of 100% of the amount of RAM you have, more an additional buffer. Where did you get the 75% of?

is there a solution to this problem?
    Thank you

    Hi Nicodemus,

The problem may occur if the display drivers are not updated or there is a corruption in the power Plan.

Method 1: Update the display drivers and verify if the taskbar works as expected.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

Method 2: Create another level of power and check if the problem still persists.

  • Mute does not work after sleep/hibernate in Windows Media Player

I put Windows Media Player to mute. The little volume icon has the circle with the line through it.

    Volume cut appropriately.

When I put my computer in hibernation and wake him up then again once the icon has yet the circle with the line through it, but DESPITE the volume being set to mute, he plays audio at full volume!

I tried Windows Media Player in the mixer Volume of inhibition, but the 'secret' setting it seemed to return to reactivated after waking from hibernation.

I ran to the resolution of the problems of audio playback, but he could not find any problems.

Conducted a search for the update drivers but all drivers are up to date.

My sound card is integrated "Realtek HD audio".

    Any ideas?

  • Controller HD Audio is the ability to consume during sleep or Hibernate in Windows 7

I got the x200s before the release of Windows 7, so I had Vista on it. I had the problem of discharge of the battery in case of hibernation in vista, and it was fixed by the application of this fix: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-73376

Now I made a new installation and upgrade to Windows 7, this battery discharge problem reappears! But that the fix does not work in Windows 7, so I guess a similar fix should be released for Windows 7?

Some technical details: the flow is about 0.1Wh for 30 minutes, and if the laptop is stopped (and unplug the charger), no battery is used at all.

Problem solved! Now my battery stays at 100% after I put into hibernation laptop.

It is the wake-up timer, simply turn off the wake-up timer

    What I did:

    1. go in the Power Manager (I used 3.2)

    2. Advanced switch

    3. choose your diet profile and go to "Advanced settings".

    4. in: allow wake up timer: battery settings - disable, AC settings - disable

It is important to set the TWO wake-up timer to turn off, as mine still consumes battery when battery set to off and on AC settings

You can also use the windows Power Manager to disable the timer alarm for each profile.

  • How to Hibernate Windows 8, there is no other choice 'see the hibernation' Advanced

I just got a Windows 8 tablet (Asus enrich your life TF810 - complete Win8 no RT). I have read all the instructions on how to add back into hibernation and under define power buttons I chose "Change settings that are currently unavailable" and 'Stop settings' returns to its position, but there is no option "Show the hibernation", only to start quick start, sleep and lock. I am running Windows in administrator mode.

    Hello

I found the solution. It is here http://www.windows8core.com/enable-hibernate-button-windows-8-developer-preview/

You must use the GPEdit.msc tool to modify a computer configuration policy. You must navigate to:

Computer configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows components > File Explorer option activate and then 'See the putting into hibernation in the power options menu'.

Please note that the original post "Windows Explorer" points such that it refers to a Windows 8 Preview. It seems that in the GTR, it was renamed to "File Explorer".

I tested and it worked. See you soon.

  • Lack of buttons on the top window right in Thunderbird

My problem has already been discussed here:

    https://support.Mozilla.org/da/questions/987606

This thread has been archived, so I can't comment on that. I have the same problem as described here: every now and then, the three buttons on the right top of the page in the main Thunderbird window stop working. In fact, they are not yet drawn more. I suspect that this may be related to (UN) hibernation the machine because the problem started occurring at the same time I started using Hibernate in Windows 7. Alternatively the bug was reintroduced in a Thunderbird update occurring between one and two months.

No other program of your use XUL as a window definition language is is my guess. You are using a non-standard theme? This happens in the VNC or only after the event?

  • HP Pavilion p7-1240: desktop will be falling asleep and wake up, and then on its own since configuration for Windows 10

Desktop has been configured for 10 Windows Home Premium and works very well.  However, a slight annoyance is whenever I put the machine to sleep, he wakes up in the minute each time.  So I do not use 'sleep' and turn every time that I'm done using it.

However, I prefer to sleep until needed again.

Already used administrator command prompt: powercfg /requests to check for power to the sleep problem issues and nothing appeared on the command line.

Already tried disabling hybrid sleep - no help

Already turned off all timers wake - no help

Already changed the power of sleep settings using adapters - no network

Any help you could give me would be much appreciated. !
