Encrypted hard drive Geo

I'm on a Mac of Sierra, and I would like to know how to encrypt disks according to the time and place. Please do not share links to complicated solutions because I probably won't be able to follow. Is there a software that can put in a variable to the AES? Any help is appreciated.

Could provide more details on exactly what you hope to gain with geo-encryption?

  • Work around the Error Message with an encrypted hard drive?

I have an external hard drive using Truecrypt encrypted. AutoPlay (at least I thought it was Autoplay) kept asking if I wanted to format when I tried to mount it after encryption.

I've renamed the reader. TrueCrypt mounted, which means some... put in Windows enabled him to be recognized. But after entering the password, Windows wouldn't let me open it. First of all, asked me again if I wanted to format the drive. When I chose still cancel, a long error message appeared.

    Hello

In dealing with the problem with Truecrypt application, I suggest you to publish the query on the Truecrypt forums for assistance.

In Windows, we have a built-in feature to the disc, called BitLocker encryption. You can use it too. Check out the link for more on this topic.

  • ProBook G1 430: Encrypted hard drive and the corrupt Windows Installation

My laptop has an encrypted disc using HP drive encryption.  Recently, the Windows installation has become corrupted and I could not repair the installation using floppy disks to install Windows because they cannot access the encrypted drive, nor can they be accessed by other facilities of Windows if I plug in the external drive.  The two methods see the Windows partition as a RAW format.  I guess it's only because the partition is encrypted and has no way to determine the actual format type.

I searched around to find clues as to how I could get past the encryption, but without success.  The computer is no longer under warranty, so I'm looking for options that will allow me to have access to the data.  The methods I've read all required the computer under warranty.

I can still go through the encryption after the computer starts, but Windows Setup gives an error and tells me that I must use an installation disk to fix.  I have attached a picture of the screen of the error.

I'd appreciate any help anyone could provide to solve this problem.

After much patience and time on the phone with HP, I finally able to return the encrypted Windows installation.  They gave me a copy of the WinPE environment was a software that allows you to decrypt a partition which was encrypted with their software and execute commands Windows on it.  I then ran the repair bootbcd order and I was able to get Windows to start.  To obtain this software, my case should be escalated to tier 2 support.

  • 14 Zbook g2: no hard drive on the new 14 g2 zbook encrpytion

I just got this new laptop with Windows 8.1 pre-installed, and I am very familiar with the line of laptop Elitebook a Zbook.

Client Security I've implemented since my fingerprints fingerprints and sparekey questions and the wizard is supposed to then configure drive encryption and a re-export certificate.

But there is no option to encrypt the hard drive well. I called technical support and he advised me to repair customer security. But this is a whole new machine out of the box does not work well. I spent $ good on this laptop so I can have 1 access by finger scan to my Windows login and have an encrypted hard drive. Relocation is not an option, things never work the same for me when I leave the original image.

    No idea what's wrong here?

    Hello:

It is my understanding that the Director of security of the Client is the host program of optional security plugins, such as drive encryption program.

Each plugin must be installed besides the CSM.

I don't see the encryption program to disk on your PC support page, but I got from the G1 to 450 Probook.

I guess it should work for your model, but I can't say for sure.

The release notes show ZBook workstations supported by this software.

(HP hard drive: computer laptop slim drive HARD 500 GB SERIAL ATA DISK DRIVE S/N W627S9NL P/N 756731-001 MFG Seagate Technologies DOM 8 / 2015)

I was happy to see that the hatd drive had already installed because Windows 7 I had bought already separate legitimate Windows 10 Pro license key for the upgrade. I was able to go online and download the upgrade of Windows 10 and used my purchased license key to activate my updated.

While doing the installation, there are some HP software that was still on the hard drive. I thought it would be good to have some additional security protocols, so I also installed the WinMagic Securedoc Bootloader v1.2.12 and saved the drive encryption HP with the security issues and password for secondary access.

10 Windows has been activated and everything was beautiful. But when I restarted the laptop, I put my password for windows and then it goes to this screen of disc HP encryption rises. I put the password and it is accepted - and then the screen turns white... not offshore... jblank TEU with a cursor flashing that doesbn can't react to inputs.

I tried leaving it for a day or so and still nothing.  There is nothing I can change in the configuration of the BIOS that works so far.

I don't know where to go or how to get beyond the screen of HP encryption.  I am pretty good at following directions, I don't know coding, but may do what you suggest to help me fix this problem.

    Can you help me?

Sorry... I missed the part that you have a license Win10.  I thought you were trying to activate 10 using the OEM HP license and causing problems.

I do not use HP encryption applications - as having recently completed a career in the InfoSec, I personally focus together on the encryption of the PC to be laughable-, but my guess is that you are basically out of luck.

If it was my drive, I WIPE the drive of all its content and then again install Win10.  A good product to do i.e. DBan: http://tiptopsecurity.com/how-to-securely-wipe-your-hard-drive-with-dban-erase-your-data-for-good/

Once your disc is clean, then simply install Win10 on it.

That said, with a bit of luck, one of the HP EXPERTS will probably come along and tell you how to get around their encryption.

    Good luck

  • Office jet pro 8500 a: elimination of printer, was this encrypted model? How to destroy the hard drive?

    This model encrypted?

If this is not the case, how to destroy the hard drive? Where is the hard drive?

    Hi @Diane47,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support with your request to printer.

I understand that you have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer you plan to elimination and you wonder if the hard disk is encrypted and how to destroy the hard drive. I would like to help with that.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer don't have a hard drive. It contains a very small amout of memory, so it can keep in memory the printer and fax settings.

You can clear the memory by restyoring the printer back to the default values.

    1. on the printer Panel, select Setup.

    2. from the Configuration menu, select Tools.

    3. on the Tools menu, select Restore Factory Defaults.

HP offers to recycle their products for you. If you want to know more about it, please click here.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

  • Connect error after hard drive encryption

I El Capitan installed on my mac mini and it has worked very well for a while. I have two hard drive installed, a flash drive, when I load the software and a second disc more where I store all my data. Today, for more security, I decided to encrypt the data reader by right clicking on the drive in the finder and select Encrypt. After doing so he says that my drive would be encrypted after the reboot, so I restarted the mac mini and now I have an error, login screen ar, just says error there is an error, log on to ar this time try again later? Can someone please help!

OK everyone, after 10 hours of repeated attempts of the total system allowed me to log on, I can only imagine that some of the data which were relevant to the connection was being encryption that I was trying to log? So if someone is in the same situation patience is necessary.

  • How can I transfer encrypted files from old hard drive removed (transfer windows easy?)

    Hello

I'm trying to get some files off my old hard drive encrypted. He has xp on it, and I can't start on my new computer. Since it is a separate, apparently, I can't do either windows easy transfer. Is it possible for me to locate the certificate and key, or to transfer files with the key and the certificate on my new computer (I have password from the old computer if I need that)? Can I somehow run WET on this hard drive for keys/certificates can be transferred. This seems to be a common problem from what I have read.
Otherwise, do you have ideas on how to start my old xp disk on my new system without reformatting?
Very important to get these files.
    Thank you!

First of all, I assume you mean encrypted files (EFS, Encrypting File System).  These files are encrypted with a key that is still encrypted in your system like a certificate.  In order to read your encrypted on any other system files, you must restore the certificate from a backup.  The short article is mandatory for anyone considering the use of EFS:
"Best Practices for encrypting file system"

Special attention to the subsection down titled "why you should back up your certificates.

  • I encrypted my files on a hard drive external and lost

I encrypted my files on an external hard drive and I've reformatted my hard drive on my widows xp, now I get access denied when I try to access the files on my external hard drive. It can be recovered? I don't change anything on the external hard drive would have key codes have been stored on the actual computer or have it stored on the external hard disk where I have encrypted files? I change my username and password when I reinstalled xp.

The "key" to your files encrypted using the Encrypting File System (EFS) is stored in your certificate store, which is part of your profile on the Windows system drive.  The certificate itself is encrypted to your Secure ID (SID, which is a unique number created with your username) and your password in the user and who-knows-what else.  Whenever you use any encryption system, if you can't answer the question "Where is my stored encryption key", then you are begging to lose all your information.  When you destroyed your old system, you wiped out the encryption with her key.  Unless you can recover your system from a backup or "best practices" followed by backing up your certificate, I'm afraid that you have lost access to all your data.  Microsoft has tried very hard and succeeds in making transparent encryption keys - at the expense of people in your situation.

The following is required reading for anyone using EFS and he explains everything very well.  Pay special attention to the paragraph entitled 'Why you should back up your certificates' to the end.

"Best practices for EFS file system.

For the same reasons you have at the moment, I chose to go with the "Truecrypt" freeware as an instead of the EFS encryption solution.  The keys are in my head like a password and I have not lost all data encrypted in 10 years despite having Windows terminally to the crash from under me several times.

  • How to restore vista OPS hard drive external bitlocker encrypted after main disk failure

I am running Vista Ultimate and my main hard drive is encrypted by Bitlocker.  I use the backup utility in Vista for backup of that my drive hard main set on a USB attached hard drive which is also encrypted by Bitlocker.  In a case of failure of the primary hard drive and installing a new hard drive, how can I restore my main hard drive (the new drive) to the USB attached bitlocker encrypted external hard? My vista ultimate OPS has been upgraded to the origin of vista home premium and so I did not have the ultimate Setup DVD disk.  I have the disk of vista Home premium.

Create a recovery disk that the restoration of the backup complete on this topic option (including family Vista drive premium will be not because this option is only available on the Enterprise and Ultimate versions)-should not do anything on bitlocker on it (which will take care of itself during the restore process unless you configure to use a flash drive for protection - then the flash player is also required {but) not a recovery disk different}).  You can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD (including backup complete PC Restore).  Be sure to get the drive to boot correctly - there are several ways to make records and this requires a way for it to work (but those that are included in the manual or on the website).

For more information, here's a great article on bitlocker with Vista.   It does not exactly cover your question, but it is very instructive in the process and the technology (and might help you if you are facing a problem on the road) and its good information to have if you use bitlocker (which can be difficult and can cause problems of recovery if you do not just because of the extra complication of encryption (backup and restore). http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2008.06.bitlocker.aspx.

    I hope this helps.
