Envy 17-1050ef graphical artifacts

Hey,.

I have a 17-1050ef Envy and get graphic objects on the screen.

I reinstalled Windows, tried the latest official ATI drivers and also the drivers provided on the HP site.

Some pictures of what I see.

Don't you think it's a hardware or software defect? Any ideas?

The laptop is still under warranty - just! So I want to make sure if it is a hardware failure that I act fast...

Thanks in advance for any help!

I am connected to an external monitor, and artifacts were on it.

Does this mean that I have a problem with the graphics card in my laptop?

Hello

Probably this defective is on your videocard (hardware or software/driver). My suggestion is completely uninstall the driver and then restart the machine. Reinstall the driver if necessary. If the problem has not disappeared that it is hardware problem.

Good luck

    Nice day

Bought a refurbished Satellite P L50-B-1 1 almost 3 weeks (20 days to be precise).

At startup, the laptop preform as expected, however if left running for a period of time and you can start any application that allows the secondary GPU, AMD Radeon R7 M260 in this case, some graphical artifacts vertical are present.

The only way to get past this is to do a windows restarts.

GPU drivers have been updated and all the other drivers and BIOS.

Don't think that it is associated with temperature, such as in most of the cases the laptop remained idle.

Any ideas or advice on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to test with external display or TV? It would be interesting to know if this problem is visible on internal or external display as well.

If possible, test and send feedback.

  • NumLock on HP Envy 17-1050ef

Does anyone know how to activate the num on the HP envy 17-1050ef key?  It doesn't seem like a NumLock on the keyboard and the numeric keypad is not activtated.

I found a solution (see below) but first I think that I must examine the solution proposed above.  First of all, I don't have the stuff of active quickweb and won't go to all the hassle of which allows him to see what is happening there.

Second, rebuild my system for what is obviously a temporary solution is one of the silliest applications that can bring a support person.  You don't have to be a genius to know that this will only fix this problem until it happens again. However, this is the type of the suggestion that I would expect of a person concerned only with their immediate "the resolution numbers" and with no long term interest in the customer satisfaction.

It's okay that HP "designed" the keyboard when it reports to the operating system as a 101 key keyboard normal.  In this case the OS assumes that it behaves like one, and that includes a double function - the keypad controlled by a num-lock key.

I did a little web search and find quickly found that the windows API includes a way to define the State of the Numlock.  This means there is a parameter inside the BONE, which reflects the State of the button, and also in now way does not provide the key on the keyboard class to change this fact.

More importantly, it means that the software can change the State of the key.  If some programs (like a game) you run could toggle the CAPS LOCK status.  ANY program can do that and it's perfectly "legal" because what they are doing is using the API that provides some Ms.  So surprise, software "reconfigure" the number pad by simply changing the State of the num-lock.  HP has not provided that some software could change the State of the numlock, and this could create problems for users, is one of their biggest blunders in the design of this keyboard.

To make our life more fun, it seems Windows 7 tries to "remember" the State of the NumLock key to stop and that he will restore this setting when windows is started.  "" This means that there is no hope for a restart in the config default OS fix this problem once the numlock status has been disabled.

In any case, I found another user in a thread on a forum Microsoft on this same question and answer it describes how to change the security settings on the portion of the registry where windows stores the current state when stopping down, if you are comfortable following these indications thirn (I have not yet tried) in theory This allows to set this registry value so numlock is always considered as WE at startup and windows cannot "remember" any other parameter (must some programs turned off)

    The thread is here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7desktop/thread/7da81412-d7bd-491b-98c9-027594d67232

Softpedia also has a program to set the State of the NumLock at startup http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Set-Numlock-State.shtml

In terms of being able to toggle the State of the numlock invisible, so you can "fix" things at the time where a program modifies the NumLock State, it is your solution

Copy the following text in Notepad and save it with a name as "numlock.vbs" running it will reverse the State press the NumLock within the OS.  NOTE that the name MUST end in. VBS this identifies as a windows script file and runs using the windows scripting host (WSH)

    Set WshShell = CreateObject ("WScript.Shell")

Hello everyone, I've upgraded to windows 8 pro and my webcam is not working. I have tried to install the HP software drivers HP and support website and tried to use Device Manager in windows to detect the webcam without success.

My computer is HP ENVY 14-1050ef Notebook PC.

Anyone know the steps I can take to recognize the device in Windows 8? Thank you very much for your help.

I wasn't able to find the drivers for the web cam. I found the software to use the camera, but it was all I could find.

However, I have a question about Windows 8 upgrade process that was used.

Did you do an upgrade on the spot or a clean installation of Windows 8?

Back to Device Manager. Is there something here at all in another category, indicating that she has a problem any?

There are some events that must happen.

Go to start and search screen to uninstall a program. Select this option in the settings category.
This takes you to the desktop app and show the familiar uninstall a program from Windows 7 feature.
Select Add/Remove Windows components on the left.

Framework 3.5 is checked here? If this isn't the case, activate this and install it.

Then, install the HP framework, which is necessary for some HP programs. This is an installation of Windows 7, but he has to cross.

Once it is finished, restart the system.

  • HP Envy 17-1050ef - second size hard drive?

    Hello

I recently bought a refurbished HP Envy 17-1050ef and to add a hard drive to the second drive Bay. Information and online forums have suggested that I have a 2.5 drive ". So, I bought a 1 TB drive and a drive Bay Caddy appropriate, opened my laptop and found that the drive is physically too big to go: it seems that the Bay is for a drive 1.8 ".

    I here something massively wrong?

    Thanks for your help.

Well, Mumbodog, it's time for me to be embarrassed... I rewatched a video online and I forgot the hard drive fits under the rim that is there. It's a tight fit because of some foam rubber buffering so is not trivial, but not too difficult either. I got it finally working and drive formatting now.

I'm sorry to have wasted your time on something that I should have checked more thoroughly.

    Thank you very much.

Cadence is like the speedometer for the video card. More power equals more images per second. The higher the resolution, the more power, keep the same pace. To drive a screen UHD (4 k or even 5 k) a powerful video card to demanding games at a playable speed. Anything more than a year will fall short. You face the eternal dilemma. Everything you buy will not upscale within 90 days. But it is a good time to buy as we just went through a major upgrade point; Skylake platform is a game changer and if you get something with a 6th gen i7 and a 4 k monitor and the best map video there now, you will be good for years to come.

  • HP Envy 700-074 Graphics Card problem Windows 8

    Greetings,

    I recently bought the HP ENVY 700-074 (http://http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us & dlc = in & lang = to & lc = in & product = 5371495).

Initial setup went fine without any problem.  I replaced the power supply so that I could add the graphics card from my old computer.  The power supply and graphics card worked perfectly for my old computer.  Feeding is a BFG Tech GX 550 watt modular power supply series.  The graphics card, I have installed is the Nvidia 560ti.

The problem is that, when I start the computer, my screen goes to sleep (as there is no signal) until the login Windows 8 screen lights up. At this time, my screen lights up and it is normally.  However, if updates or restarts the computer, the screen turns off again and he returned sometimes when loading the desktop computer.  I tried to get into the BIOS to see if I could disable the onboard graphics, but I have been unable to access BIOS because I don't see anything on the screen during startup.  I removed the Nvidia card and returned to the use of the integrated graphics card and everything is back to normal.  I managed to enter the BIOS at the time here, but I don't see any possibility to disable the integrated graphics card or use the PCIe as main display (unless I missed something).

I also noticed that Windows 8 shows I have 2 screens installed when only 1 is installed physiclaly.  My HP (HP 2009 m) monitor is listed in Monitor 2 and I initially had to go through the windows to get my HP Monitor to display the entire desktop (as it origionally extended from the start, the desktop computer).  However, number of monitor 1 is listed as monitor of generic cards.  Thinking that the computer used the non-existent monitor like main display when starting, I deleted the generic monitor than to have to reinstall windows.  I also tried to disable, but the problem persists.

I guess that there is a conflict between the integrated graphics card and the Nvidia card.  However, I assumed that the edge will be disabled automatically after inserting a card into the PCIe slot as the integrated graphics card watch is no longer under device mananger.

    Hello:

Have you changed the settings of the BIOS 2 (required) before installing the video card no HP?

  • HP Envy 700-327c: graphics card on HP Envy 700-327c update

I just bought and am preparing to install an AMD over-pants W7000 C2K00AT 4 GB GDDR5 SDRAM PCI Express 3.0 x 16 ATI Nvidia Quadro graphics in my HP Envy 700 - 327 c.  Any input as to what I can do to make this a free update of the problem?

    You are welcome.

I would like to do some research before buying a power supply.  You may need more power than I recommended.  It says in the specs it uses less than 150W, but even more than the current PSU can provide with other components.

I'd certainly appreciate hearing how things are going.

  • HP envy 17-j130ea: hp envy 17-j130ea graphics card upgrade

I have the HP ENVY 17 t-j130ea running windows 8.1 with i7-4700MQ processor and 12 GB of ram.

Currently I have the graphics nvidia Gforce740M - 2 GB but its still slow for a few games, so I want to replace by GTX 780 m coming 780Ti GTX 4 GB or 4 GB. Is it possible?  one more I can improve memory 16 gb?

    Hello

Unfortunately, the nvidia gpu is integrated with the system board and is not an evolutionary element.

Your laptop will support a maximum of 16 GB of ram (2 x 8 GB modules) - you can find an example of an upgrade on the following link.

  • HP ENVY 137C 750: GTX 1070 for HP ENVY 750-137C graphics card upgrade

I picked up a refurbished HP ENVY 750-137c and am currently looking to improve the graphics. I don't want to break the Bank, but I don't want it to last me a while, I'm looking at the Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 1070.

Apart from the evolution of the needs of power, does anyone know if this card is compatible, and if there are problems with this upgrade? In addition, Nvidia recommends a diet of 500W for this card. Would be - it sufficient, or is - this genrous number? In addition, if someone has a product of power supply they would recommend for this theoretical combination, I'd greatly appreciate advice.

    Thank you!

    @Drifterx311, welcome to the forum.

Here are the full specifications of the card on the nVidia website.  The card is double slot and 10.5 "long.  I suggest measurement of the back plate of e/s to the front of the box to see how much space is available.  I think it fits, but it will be tight.

As you said, the specs recommend a PSU 500W (PSU).  Personally, I'd buy one at least 600 w.  This will give you extra power for peak needs.  I love Corsair products.  Here are a few PSU for you to review Newegg.  If you choose a modular power supply it will allow you to install only the cables that are absolutely necessary.  This allows for better air circulation.  The PSU is the backbone of the computer.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about them.  A good diet will make your system run much better.

  • HP Envy 14 with graphics switchable

Hi I have an Envy 14-1011NR I upgraded to Win 8 Pro 64 bit. I could find the drivers for the graphics card, AMD and Intel chipset and install both. The switching part is what does not work. Even if the Catalyst Center lists/offer menu an option to switch graphics it is not working properly. Once I change, the display will be blank until I have 1) connect to an external monitor or 2) select 'extend' in the options of Windows P of multiple screens. When I look at the screen resolution Control Panel it shows a monitor for the AMD and an Intel card, so I think the latop think two monitors are connected.

When will an official HP driver available?

    Otherwise, everything else works great!

    Hello

The NVIDIA 9600, I've just looked at requires an auxiliary PCI-E 6 pin.  If the 9600 GT from NVIDIA that you require such a connector, then it will not work on your PC, unless you change to food.  In addition, the 9600 GT does not support DirectX 11, which is used with the recent PC games.

  • XG270HU freesync flickering monitor and graphics artifacts in 100 120 and 144 Hz

Hello, just picked up this monitor from Newegg and a bit disappointed. Looks like I might have a defective screen, whenever I pass on the higher refresh rate (100 120, 144 Hz) I get horizontal an audible pop and a line pattern artifacts on the screen at random times. I bought this monitor for the Freesync game so it is a must for me to make it work.

At 60 Hz, I don't get problems only 100 Hz or more. I tried testing with and without crossfire and and active freesync and still the same issue.

    Here are my system specs:

    I7-3820

    Card mother Intel DX79SR

    PowerColor 3 x 290 x 290 x Radeons (version cooled by water)

    AMD drivers tested:

    15.4.1 beta

    15.4 beta

    14,12 official omega

It seems that I could work around the problem. It seems that the issue could be around my split primary 290 x GPU display port. Fortunately, my motherboard intel has an option to make any GPU is the primary card without changing the slots (im running the powercolors water cooled) so I did the 2nd primary split GPU via bios and reinstalled the drivers. the graphic issue has now disappeared with the screen plugged into the 2nd split card! I always use tests, but well. no problem even in crossfire mode, it seems that one of my GPU display ports are not at the height.
