  • ENVY of HP dv7 - 7243cl wireless adapter issues

    Hi all

I have recently purchase a refurbished HP ENVY dv7-7243 CL overall I am satisfied with the product with the exception of a massive show. I have serious problems with the edge of network card range. I'm holding the phone right next to the router and I get only 3 of the 5 bars. It is not a router problem as I have several other devices that connect perfectly across the House. Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I uninstalled and then reinstalled the driver, nothing helps.

Had the same problem and support has me remove the cover back, then reconnect the wireless antennas.  Went well after that.  Suggest that you call the assistance for this info on how to do it properly.  I'm sure you will agree that it's a quality issue with a new machine.

  • ENVY dv7 - 7243cl with many issues that do not appear to have solved! Help, please!

    Hi guys!

I'm a dv7 - 7243cl running Windows 8, which had questions about not the case. First of all the wireless issue. I have to constantly go to networks and connect to my wireless. Is not connected to any wireless even when even if my settings are set to "automatically connect". About 75% of the time, I hit "solve problems" so that he can reset my wireless adapter and others to connect. I checked all my drivers and they are up to date.

My second question is recently (beginning about 3 days ago), when I close the lid of the laptop, the screen is off, but the laptop continues to operate. The HP on the shell is turned on, power led lights up, the wireless light and fan and player. When I open the screen at this point it does not load and I have to press and hold the power button to turn off, then on again (I really don't know how I should have extinguished, I know its bad but I do it as a last resort).

I am really frustrated with this laptop right now because I'm sick and tired of waiting and constantly my Web just to get some homework done connection/deconnecting. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

It's great to hear! The only way to really know is to shut it down and power on several times.

But according to this link, others say that it worked for them too.

    I'm glad I could help

Ok. Sorry to hear that you did not have serial or usb disk recovery recovery media.

This means that, unfortunately, in your case, than to buy a set of HP or send to drive hard reimage is your less expensive options.

It would be wise to buy a set of recovery disks or to ask if an instant multimedia usb HP rcovery disc is available for your laptop.  At least this way, you would be not dependent on any other repair of your PC. You could do it yourself after reading a tutorial or watch a video on using the recovery media.

    Hi there @infohack

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff.

I can certainly understand your concern about this mix of partitions, and I am happy to help you with this.

As a first step, this page: partitioning and naming of readers (Windows 8)

There is also this post of @Daniel_Potyrala , even if reference is made to windows 7, it is loaded with useful information that applies to windows 8 as well. Its theme is more on the preparation of another drive with partitions, but this part of the update, there is information on the purpose of most of the partitions that you ask the subject.

How to repartition the disk HARD of HP notebook with pre-installed Windows 7

Since some of the partitions you listed are not labeled, it is difficult to tell what some of them are, but in a UEFI environment, it is possible one of those is a part of this environment. The recovery partition would have your plant to install the image. I would recommend you do a CD set of recovery as well via the recovery manager. You can make only one series.

I hope this helps a little.

    Hi, Joe:

You need these drivers to the SMBus and USB3 controllers...

This package contains the driver and Intel Chipset Installation Utility for the notebook models and operating systems. This utility allows the operating system to show the correct name for the Intel hardware that is installed in the Microsoft Windows Device Manager.

    File name: sp56156.exe

This package provides the driver for the Intel USB 3.0 controller host for the notebook models and operating systems. The driver allows USB 3.0 devices.

    File name: sp56164.exe

  • Cannot align the bottom edge of the photo with the top of the taskbar on the H - P dv7-4296 running Windows 7

I have a dv7-4296nr running Windows 7.  I use a slide show for my wallpaper.  But some of the graphics that I use are not among the standard background images and are not size 1600 x 900 pixels.  I resized them so that the vertical dimension is 900 pixels and the horizontal is not more than 1600 pixels.

I want to put a text caption simple (usually only one word) in the lower right corner of the image, as close as possible to the lower edge.  Put the text in the image is easy, but he displayed is not!

The problem is that the taskbar hide the bottom of the image, including the legend.  I can think of two approaches to solve the problem, but have not been able to get either to work.

The preferred approach is to resize and place the photos so that the bottom of the image is almost exactly in line with the top of the to-do bar and the top of the image is at the top of the screen.  That would allow me to display the entire image with the caption placed where I like it.  I was not able to resize the images and place them in the display to achieve this.  Can you tell me how to proceed?

The other answer, which is less satisfactory, is to move the legend to the top, so the base line is just above the top of the taskbar.  How far away from the lower edge of the baseline of the text image will have to be to do this?

    Thanks for your help!

The taskbar are 40 pixels high, so you can see only 860 900 pixels display area.  The simplest solution is to put the pixel text-based line at least 40 of the bottom of the image and use the option Center in the positioning of the image menu.  Unfortunately, this leaves the background pixels 40 obscured by the taskbar.

A more elegant solution is to resize the image in order to make the vertical dimension 860 pixels.  I use Corel Paint Shop Pro, which has a function called 'Size of the canvas', and I don't know there are similar functions in other paint programs.  Canvas size allows you to add a background (a "Web") and specify the size of the canvas as well as the location of the image on the canvas.

I make the white of the canvas, 900 pixels high and the same width as the image.  It gives me a bunch of white 'canvas' 40 pixels up and down.  I add the text, and then store the resulting image in the folder that contains the images on my desk of slides.

It works very well: the taskbar don't obscure than the white stripe, while I can see the entire image with the text placed where I want.

  • No wireless adapter on HP Envy laptop (dv7 - 7398ca) running Windows 7

    Hello

I have a HP Envy laptop (product #: D1A32UA) originally provided with Windows 8.  I put Windows 7 above and now I have all the available wireless features.

Is the only network adapter I have listed in the Device Manager: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller and I can connect to internet just fine with that as a long time that I connect to my router via a network cable.

Aside from that, I have "Other Devices" listed in the device manager that don't seem to have the correct drivers installed:

    -Network controller

    -PCI device

    -SM Bus controller

    -Controller universal Serial Bus (USB)

I also have two of my USB ports that do not work properly (which is probably caused by the lack of proper drivers).

But the main problem is not wireless connectivity to all.  I unplugged the network cable, rebooted, installed all the updates of Windows 7, etc.  Nothing.  System does not appear to know that it has wireless capability (because he certainly with Windows 8).

HP web site says there are no avaiable updates/drivers for my system (I ran a scan of my system on the HP website).

So my only option to put Windows 8 on?  Or y at - it another way to get the wireless feature to wake up?

    Thank you

  • Envy of HP dv7: HP SimplePass on Envy dv7

I use a computer laptop dv7 HP Envy, running Windows 10, 64-bit operating system. The operating system uses the browser of Microsoft Edge and I put this browser as my default. When you use HP SimplePass to connect to a Web site, the AuthenTec software seems to use Internet Explorer to run the applicaation SimplePass. To be fair, he used to use IE when I got my default browser set as Google Chrome.

I want a lot to persuade HP SimplePass use the edge browser, if I can because I think it is more secure than IE. Is this possible with the existing software? ... or what I need to upgrade to a newer version? ... or is - this all simply not possible?

I hope someone can help me with this.

    @JLBH,

Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forums.  You should check your software and drivers page to see if there was an update to the simple go software for Windows 10.  It can cover the new browser.  If no, you will not be able to tell the new browser software will not see because it did not exist when creating simple past.

Just keep an eye the updates.

Thanks again for posting and have a great day.
