ENVY of HP dv7 Notebook PC: graphic switch card in the laptop?

I was wondering if this laptop is capable of changing its graphics with a more advanced right one, now AMD APU A8 - 4500M with Raedon HD graphics card and was hopeing to upgrade to a better AMD with 1 GB of video ram instead of 512 MB video ram (which is what my pc now)
Thanks if you can help!

Hello:

Thanks for providing the details.

Data sheet: http://support.hp.com/in-en/product/HP-ENVY-dv7-Notebook-PC-series/5296050/model/5312230/document/c03482802/

Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03591253

Currently, your laptop has discrete graphics class 1/2 GB.

Through page 1, 2, 3, 26 in the manual, AMD A10 - 4600M is the only processor left for you to upgrade to. Chart is integrated/welded to the processor.

You will get 2 gb graphics discrete class itself with the new processor.

Unfortunately, the GPU is not extensible in these units.  You will need to update the whole motherboard package, which would be costly and cause potential reliability problems in the future.  Your best option would be to upgrade to a laptop more recent with the GPU and the plug, you need.

    Hi @wyndeway,

    Thank you for your request!

I understand that your computer has been constantly icy and very slow. When you have verified the device displays error 31 on a USB controller Manager.  It started after the Windows 8.1 classification.  To help you more effectively, I need the Envy DV7 specific model do you have? Computers laptops HP - how can I find my model number, serial number or product?.

Do you have a rear roll of 10 Windows to Windows or did you reinstall from a retail copy or perform a recovery?  Have you done all your Windows updates, after the downgrade?  You ran the HP Support Assistant?

    Try this for USB:

    • Go to the Device Manager
    • Right click on the USB controller with the error
    • Choose uninstall and remove.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Open the Device Manager and click on Action
    • Click scan for hardware changes.

  • Envy of HP dv7 Notebook: failed to create the recovery disk.

I have a HP ENVY Notebook dv7. When the computer was new, I tried to make a record of retrieving the value. When finished, I would check out (DVD - R) discs, I would get a message saying that disks has not written correctly. I tried three different packs records, always the same. Called HP Support and they went through the process with me, always the same failure. I was told not to worry if I still have the discs because of an accident, they would send them to me for free because they have a record. Now, I'll use this computer mostly on the internet and think I should have just in case records. Called HP and was not said no record, no free drives and it will cost a lot to make them help the discs. Is it possible to make records or put the info on a hard drive? I don't know if the computer thinks that I made a copy or not, because the copies, I thought I was doing were defective.

  • ENVY of HP dv7 Notebook PC: Windows 10 compatibility issues

I want to be the new operating system Windows 10. Apparently, this is going to be a compatibility issue with my laptop. I have the AMD Radeon HD 7640 G graphic card. It seems that Windows 10 do not like it. How can I fix this problem before the release date in July? Thank you.

This is a preliminary read Microsoft and won't say there are problems that can be supported with the official version.  Just be sure that you have the most recent driver for now.

Win 10 drivers will be released by the factory eventually so keep not prevent you to Win 10.

  • ENVY of HP dv7 NOTEBOOK PC: Beats Audio Control Console does not work!

At the beginning I didn't know her and all of a sudden, whether.  Then, after checking the updates, I got a bit her back but Beats Audio (that's why I chose this particular laptop, as I watch a lot of movies and listen to a ton of music) does not work at all!  I can shoot to the top of the control Console Audio Beats, but I does NOT allow me to click on anything whatsoever.  So, I have sound I hear not well at all (my mini netbook has the best sound at this time and it's awful!) and the reason why I chose to pay a lot for this laptop was because she saw the Beats Audio, which it won't allow me to access more!  I need expert help to get this problem because what time this laptop is almost worthless for someone like me who has the bad hearing and need the best sound that beats provided!

Try to download this driver: driver Audio IDT high definition (HD) - sp59654

Uninstall your current audio driver, restart your system and then install it and let me know if that solves the problem.

  • ENVY of HP dv7 Notebook PC: blinking cursor

    Hello

I did the upgrade of Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 - everything was working fine until yesterday

Because of this problem I can't make a selection with a choice of multiple, or even working with the search option, because each character I type is disappaering.

to explain a bit more: when I was this Message that I had to choose the operating system, and I got to work with the arrows to choose the 10 Windows.

I've had this a few weeks already, and that I had put my laptop to 8.1 Windows and redo the upgrade to Windows 10.

    Can you help me please

    Dear Sir

I just put my pc back to factory settings, and I'm busy now to reinstall all my software.

I guess that is the best that I stay in 8.1 and do not do the upgrade of Windows 10.

Thanks for all your time that you dedicate to solve my problem.

I there will come back if I still have problems, but I guess that everything will be resolved once completed.

  • ENVY of HP dv7 Notebook PC: how to resolve low speeds of transfer USB 3 of 20-23 MB/s

    Hello

Ive done a clean install of win 10 on my HP Envydv7 7332ea and now the rate of transfer on a USB 3, use the right cable to a seagate backup disc is sitting at 20-23 MB/s

Ive said that the latest drivers are there for the seagate drive

Ive changed the policy for better performance in Device Manager

    The BIOS is locked.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can come back good USB 3 speed?

    Concerning

    K

    Hello

How fast do you expect? According to the files on your source and target structure. 20-23 MB/s is a good sspeed. If you have hundreds of small files, the speed will drop more. What software do you use for backup? If only purely copy, please try a product called TeraCopy, this will start the speed up to 10% to 20%

    Kind regards.

  • ENVY of HP dv7 Notebook PC: install Windows 8 discs HP

I just ny laptop from HP repair center a week ago and I already had to perform a system reset.  I tried to reset my laptop and the message I got was, ' cannot reset no, because no disk partition detected ".  I called HP and they could not help, they told me that I have to reinstall Windows 8 and they post the discs to me.  HP blamed the problem of the partition on the fact that I had Windows 8 is installed and then I downloaded Windows 8.1 store Windows and it screwed in place the parition.  This answer has any sense at all to me.

As I mentioned earier, HP is mailing me new Windows 8 discs. However, the technical support representative HP told me that the discs do not come with a product key.  How can I perform a clean installation without Windows product key?

Yes at the time the upgrade of the OS is corrupt or delete the recovery partition, especially when it formats the disk.  It is always better to create recovery disks when you get the computer.

The key of Windows 8 is embedded in the BIOS and not need to know the key when you reinstall, the installation will recognize the key.  If you want to know what your key, download Belarc Advisor, and it will give you all kinds of information about your computer: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

It is best to upgrade to 8.1 Windows because it is more stable and with the new Windows 10 to come this year you will be eligible to get the free update if you are running 8.1

  • ENVY of HP dv7 w / Win 8.1 freezes after the closing and re-opening of lid

    Computer: HP dv7 ENVY

Processor: Intel Core i7-3820 QM 2.7 GHz

    OS: Windows 8.1

Graphics Card & Driver: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650 M (worm 331.82)

Since the passage of Win 8.0 to 8.1, my laptop does not respond to the new entry after the closing and reopening of the cover.  As an attempt to circumvent the problem, in Control Panel (Control Panel > hardware and sound > Power Options > System Settings) I selected 'doing nothing' for preferences "when I close the lid.  After having opened the lid, tab browser fail to loa, windows cannot be enabled/disabled and CTRL-ALT-DEL gives no answer (preventing access to even the Task Manager).  The computer must be restarted to continue in force.

This solution seems to have worked, even if I do not know why the four actions that were "resolved" by the resolution of the problems of power would cause the issue.

    Thank you!

Is there another way to use a graphics card?

    Hello

He already has a video chip (card). As mentioned above, no way you can add an external video card in your machine. In fact, there is a way that requires the following steps:

buy a new motherboard that supports an external video card.

    (b) buy a new video card,

    (c) buy a new cooling system,

    (d) you may need new power supply (charger)

And at the end of the day, your machine may NOT work as you dream and the total cost would be more than the price of a new, better computer.

Hope this is what explains a bit more.
